I still remember 1993, using dial-up modems (back before any decent Bulletin Board Systems existed) and those few hundred university access points scattered across major cities like New York, Chicago, or LA. By 2000, things had shifted massively. Around 2004, we saw this new generation arrive—the "I need internet right now" crowd... and the web definitely wasn't the same anymore. Now, in 2011, nothing is what it used to be. Not the internet, not this forum, not the climate, not even our values. Fighting it all feels like tilting at windmills.

Exactly. There aren't really any boundaries when you listen to pretty much everything. My 1 TB hard drive (with only about 83 GB left) is broken down into these folders:

The 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s... all those decades of Brown Sugar songs about heroin. 😬 Chill-out, Christmas, country, disco, domestic stuff, electronic, funk, Goa / psychedelic trance, hits, Movie Soundtracks, folk, Nazi, others, serious, pop, Psychedelic rock, punk & HC, Punk-HC-Folk, rap, rock (there's a bit of everything).

Plus an external 500GB hard drive.

Since I'm a total trash lover, I actually enjoy listening to the absolute worst pop garbage out there. Honestly, some of these total flops even make it onto my top lists—like Luka Nižetić's Premiere. 🙏 🙏 🙏 So, it’s basically limitless. No boundaries at all.

I’ve been chewing on this for a bit and figured this out: when I’m listening to stuff I know is good and fits my mood, it totally recharges my batteries and soul. But when I'm hunting for new bands? I rarely get that same spark unless I stumble onto something killer. 🙂 Though, since that doesn't happen constantly, maybe I've just lost my touch.

You can add friends, leave messages on their walls, check out their listening habits, see which shows they're hitting up, join groups based on specific genres or artists, listen to tracks, read up on performers, see where people are playing, find similar acts, like songs, tag genres... honestly, it's basically just a massive database. It's a great tool, highly recommend. 👍

Since everything relies on those MP3 tags, you get these detailed breakdowns showing exactly what percentage of your listening is dedicated to specific genres. You can dig into similar artists, hunt down concert dates, and all that good stuff. Honestly, if you’re a total music geek, it’s an essential tool.

I’ve been hooked on music since I was a kid. It’s just part of who I am at this point—collecting tracks and hunting down new sounds is basically baked into my DNA. There’s no expiration date on this obsession, either.

Since most of what I listen to isn't exactly mainstream, I don't usually expect to love it on the first spin. Honestly, if I *do* like something immediately, I usually assume it’s garbage—and more often than not, I'm right. When I actually stumble onto something high-quality (you know, stuff that's genuinely new to my ears), I have to sit down, close my eyes, and do absolutely nothing else. I just focus on the sound. I can't stand music you just leave rattling around in the background while you're busy doing something else. That's how you listen to commercial pop, and that's just not my scene.

Music is basically my lifeblood from the second I wake up until I finally crash. I usually just toss about an hour's worth of tracks into my player, set a sleep timer on my computer, and let it ride. It’s pretty much constant—from sunrise to lights out, there's always something playing. 😁
