Is the customer always right? in Economy ·
Robert Chavez92 said:Honestly, it's time we retired that cliché.

Since when did everything become acceptable just in the name of world profit? Since when do we tolerate behavior that's straight-up subhuman just because someone's spending money?
Store owners basically force their employees to swallow insults and play nice even when some jerk is screaming in their face or acting completely unhinged.
Because of people like that, the rest of us end up stuck watching these awkward, miserable scenes—overworked cashiers breaking down or getting humiliated in the middle of an aisle. It sucks for everyone involved.

If you ask me, basic human decency should come before the bottom line.

The saying doesn't need changing. Words themselves aren't the problem; they don't hurt anyone. It's the people who need to change. Besides, why frame it as a choice between manners and money? You should strive for both.
Borat, Brüno, or Ali G: Who's the best? in Movies ·
I don't think you guys actually "get" Bruno Mars. This film isn't some slapstick comedy; it’s a biting critique of modern society, democracy, gender equality, religion, sexual orientation, and capitalism. As such, it’s not meant to be funny. It mocks consumerism and targets people like yourselves who walked in expecting a lighthearted romp where he just acts like a fool, much like he did in Borat. By the end of the movie, you should be moved to tears by the realization of the world we live in and the Neanderthals we're surrounded by.
Is the customer always right? in Economy ·
The idea that "the customer is always right" isn't about truth; it’s about avoiding unnecessary arguments. In this instance, the retailer handled it perfectly by offering an apology, a replacement, or a full refund. Those are the standard protocols used to maintain brand loyalty. However, that's a separate issue from the fact that, in this specific case, the buyer was acting like a complete moron who likely hoped the seller would just hand over $6.75 so they could turn a little profit on top of it.
How to lose 55 lbs in a month? in Health ·

I'm going to try to drop 33 pounds by September...
just so I can hit at least 220 🙏

33 pounds by September??? Are we talking about this year or next?
Do yourself a favor and Google "rapid weight loss" and click any of those links. You'll find they all tell you the exact same thing.

Walter Williams33 said:So, I’ve let things slide quite a bit lately—I've actually put on about 55 pounds over the last year.
I am standing at 6 feet tall and weighing in at 253 pounds right now.
What is the most efficient way to drop this weight in a short amount of time? 🤷

You didn't "let yourself go a bit"; you let yourself go completely. Realizing that distinction is your first step toward progress.
Losing 55 pounds in a month is only possible if you undergo major surgery or lose a limb.
Eat less and move more—anything works. Walk, run, ride a bike; just start moving. That will be plenty for now. Once you’ve dropped the first 10 to 20 pounds, come back and we can discuss more intense training regimens.
Good luck.
Car loans in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
Brian Robinson8 said:I’ve been hunting for a car for months now, but I keep putting it off... Finally, I found something that actually checks all my boxes, both in terms of features and price.

Unless I hit the jackpot, buying a car in cash just isn't happening. My only real options are a loan or leasing. I'm young, I don't have any other debt hanging over me, and the monthly payment would only be about one-fifth of my paycheck. No kids, and my housing situation is already sorted out.

So, should I take out the loan or pass?

The Federal Reserve keeps raising rates, and even though JPMorgan Chase was looking to hike theirs, I noticed on the Ford website that they're offering a fixed-rate loan through JPMorgan Chase at 8%. 🤷

Of course you can take the loan. Generally speaking, leasing is a worse deal for individuals than a standard auto loan. All this talk about "tightening belts" is mostly just noise meant to spook people—don't let it get to you. In fact, it might actually be smarter to aim for a payment closer to 1/3 of your paycheck rather than 1/5, just so you can shorten the term. With interest rates being as volatile as they are right now, reducing your exposure to time is key.
That Ford offer seems decent, but check which specific models qualify, because the deals aren't universal. Link Also, shop around other manufacturers; they’re clearing out older inventory at significant discounts, like this Mazda for instance.
The Omen in Movies ·
Personally, I wasn't particularly impressed by Rosemary's Baby. I spent the entire runtime waiting for a payoff that never seemed to arrive; I kept anticipating a climax that just wouldn't materialize. It feels more like a psychological thriller than a true horror film to me.

As for The Omen franchise, you can find them all on torrent sites quite easily—I actually just downloaded them recently. The movie is 👍

What are you mixing the oats with? Personally, I’ve been crushing about 80g of oats with 30g of protein powder every single morning for two years now. Sometimes I use milk, lately I've switched to water. For the last month, I've even been tossing in some diced watermelon or peaches. To me, it’s a top-tier breakfast. Truly. Plus, the best part is that you’re hungry again in two hours, so you can just eat again.

brightcanyon7 said:This might sound like a rookie question, but I need to know... regarding protein powders—whether it's whey or whatever else—do they contain artificial sweeteners? I’m hoping it isn't just straight sugar😕, though I'm also not sure if aspartame and those types of additives are actually good for you...🤷 Is there an option that doesn't have any of that stuff at all?😕😕

Labrada makes aspartame-free protein. Incospor Unlimited is also free of artificial sweeteners and keeps sugar levels extremely low (I believe it's about 0.5g per 100g). The catch is that the "unlimited" version is unflavored, so it tastes pretty bland. If you try to add flavor back in, you're essentially adding sugars again. It's a bit of a Catch-22.
Is professional sports actually healthy? in Health ·
In my view, professional sports aren't healthy at all. At its core, it’s just another job like any other. People enter the industry for the paycheck and the fame, not to lead a healthier lifestyle. The moment you sign a professional contract, the link between athletics and wellness is severed. It becomes strictly about revenue and securing a financial future.
And as some might argue, true sport died the very day broadcasting—whether on TV or radio—was interrupted by a commercial break.

How to get started with agtech and farming investments? in Business, Accounting & Taxes ·
gentlecanyon65 said:..... I've been doing some thinking and reading ....

Agricultural land prices are relatively low right now. Since I have some liquid capital and I’m not exactly lazy, I’ve been weighing the idea of investing in farming.
..... For instance, establishing a permanent walnut orchard.... the setup doesn't demand an excessive amount of manual labor, which means it doesn't necessarily need to be my primary income stream, yet it should yield a profit after a few years.... My plan was to pick up roughly 12 to 25 acres and plant WALNUTS ....

Now .... I’m not a professional farmer, but I know how to handle a shovel, and with a bit of reading and some decent advice, I think I could manage .... However, I can't quite make the math work in my head ....

I heard that government subsidies for walnut orchards are around $13333 per acre ....

Please share your thoughts on this! ☕ 🙄

As someone else already pointed out, you have to account for the number of years it takes before those walnuts actually start producing. Your grandkids will probably build you a monument if you plant 12 to 25 acres of walnuts, because they’ll be the ones reaping the real rewards—assuming market trends, USA policy, and similar variables remain favorable.
I personally have two walnut trees; half the harvest goes into my pantry and the other half gets sold. Just imagining that scale over 25 acres is significant. 👍

Have you considered hazelnut groves? I know two guys who specialize in that, and they expand their acreage every single year. It’s a thriving business for them.
