I've always eaten grapes whenever I felt like it and never had an issue. This is the first time I’m actually hearing that specific foods could mess with how pills work. I mean, it makes sense—you are what you eat, right? I think for me, it's a perfect storm of stress, smoking, and constantly jumping between time zones. It puts a massive strain on my system. Usually, the second I slip into even a slightly unhealthy routine, my skin, stomach, and ovaries pay the price. So, I'm not totally shocked, but this is new. It feels like I've been stuck in a ten-day PMS cycle. Bloating, cramps, spotting... it's awful. Honestly, I feel like five tractors are parked on my abdomen.
I was hoping someone might be able to help me clear up a bit of a dilemma regarding taking pills and Vitamin C supplements. So, I recently started taking Lindynette 20, and since I’ve got that genetic tendency for broken capillaries—which, honestly, have been popping up more often lately—I was thinking about picking up some Twinlab Vitamin C capsules with bioflavonoids. They’re once-a-day things, just 500 mg of ascorbic acid per capsule... But, a few years back, I remember hearing somewhere that you shouldn't take high doses of Vitamin C at the same time as birth control because it can mess with how effective they are. Especially if you're doing it daily as a supplement (I mean, obviously eating citrus is fine, nothing crazy there...), but I never really dug deep into it before since I wasn't on the pill or taking much Vit C back then...
I started digging around online and here on the forums, and I kept running into these older threads where almost everyone insists that Vitamin C doesn't affect the pill at all. Then I checked out some medical forums, like WebMD, where actual doctors answer questions, and I found some seriously contradictory stuff—even from the same gynecologists at different times. In a couple of posts, the same doctor claims that taking daily Vitamin C for something like capillary support has absolutely zero impact on the pill's effectiveness, but then in other threads answering the exact same question, they say daily supplementation totally works against the pill by reducing its efficacy (???) ...it's so confusing.
I'm going to ask my own OB-GYN, of course, but I'd love to hear some "fresh" takes or any firsthand experiences if anyone has them. What’s still tripping me up is that in the old printed instructions for Lindynette 20, it used to say: "Certain medications may weaken liver enzyme activity, which could increase the levels of pill ingredients in the blood. These include drugs like Lipitor, indinavir, fluconazole, and troleandomycin. Similarly, drugs that affect the absorption of the pill in the gut—like ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) and acetaminophen"—can also have this effect. But in the newer versions of the packaging, that whole section seems to have vanished...
Wait, wait—this is my first post and I just started bleeding seven days early. That means I'm still in the middle of my active pills. Until I can get my doctor on the phone, I guess I'm stuck reading random experiences online. I started taking Vitamin C regularly about a month ago and never once connected it to the pill's performance. I can't believe my cycle is messed up again. Everything was perfect for six months, and now I've got spotting right in the middle of my active pills—just brown discharge. Honestly, I'm at my wits' end with this.
stormyharbor2 said:I agree. No offense intended—you’re scared of chemicals but you smoke like a chimney 🤦 look up some scientific papers online, smoking while on the pill is a seriously bad idea, especially if you fall into a high-risk group (over 30, weight issues, etc.). I forgot exactly how much it spikes cancer risk. I actually totally blanked on that once and smoked 5 or 6 cigarettes in one night before my period... I'm not a regular smoker though, so I probably won't drop dead... 🤣
Try being a little patient. I also thought it would never stop, but everything normalized after a few months. It takes the body about six months to adjust to the hormones. It’s exhausting, I know...
When the same thing happened to me, my OBGYN told me to just keep taking them and then do the usual 7-day break after this pack. I don't know why doctors online say you shouldn't take a break after the next pack... 🤷
Anyway, I decided to just stay on the birth control until my next appointment when I'll ask for a checkup and blood work... do they make things difficult for you when you ask for that? Like, acting like it's "not necessary" or whatever...
I don't know, it just doesn't feel worth it to me. I went in to fix one issue and ended up dragging ten more behind me. Today I'm dealing with cramps and some spotting, even though I still have six active pills left to take. So what is that supposed to be? A period? Breakthrough bleeding? Just discharge? Honestly, I don't know. I can always ask my doctor for those Duphaston pills if I need to delay my period—which I've done before, maybe once or twice a year max. If I risk getting pregnant, who cares? It's really not that big of a tragedy for me anymore.
My cycle is naturally regular and my hormones are perfect, so I'm terrified these pills are going to wreck everything.
I’m reading some posts here saying some of you dealt with spotting for an entire year. Honestly? I’m done with the pill after just three months. I tried Yaz and Loestrin. Total disaster. It’s either constant spotting or this brownish discharge, and it is driving me insane. I’m a dermatologist, by the way, and I’ve already noticed my nerve-based skin breakouts starting up again. I can’t even tell if I’m on my period anymore, when it's actually happening, or what part of this bleeding even counts as a period... I'm losing my mind here. I might give Loestrin one more cycle, but if this spotting doesn't stop, I'm out.
I started taking these mainly to regulate my cycle because I travel a lot and don't always want to deal with brutal cramps. Before this, I used to just delay my period with pills, so after talking to my OB-GYN, I decided to give birth control a shot. The only upside so far is that my breasts have gotten bigger. Everything else? 👎
How do you guys even have sex constantly with all this spotting and discharge? For real, you must go through a mountain of towels and sheets every single day because there's just some constant leak coming out of me. Gross.
Andrew Gomez40 said:Not necessarily. Florence was supposed to play on Tuesday. Besides, there's a headliner every single day. It was probably just a mix of Placebo, great weather, and the fact that today is a holiday.
For sure. I doubt she would've played if the next day wasn't a holiday anyway. I danced my heart out, got home at 3 AM, and slept until 11 the next day. 😁milina 😁
Andrew Gomez40 said:It’s funny how the crowd always peaks on the very last day. Yesterday was a complete disaster. The cell service even cut out at one point. You can't even send a simple text if your life depends on it. And the ER? Packed with people throwing up. It looked like the trenches in World War I.
Everything else was actually good though. 😁 Seriously. 👍
The headliners usually play the last day, so why would anyone be surprised by the massive crowds? Personally, I only cared about Placebo and Florence, but she canceled at the end. I didn't have any intention of seeing anything else. I would've shown up any day they were playing.
The mud was fine. They fixed up the area near the food stands and stuff, which worked. But the chaos in front of the stages? What did they expect? If they had "fixed" that spot too, the crowd would've just destroyed it all by jumping around.
Ashley Grant66 said:Placebo... look, I was a massive fan back in high school (long time ago). When the show started, it felt kind of lukewarm. Molko spent half the time fixing his hair, and honestly, the sound wasn't even that great. But then, as they got closer to the end, things picked up. It turned into this total emotional explosion for me during Special K and The Bitter End. And then the encore! Another one! Infrared was definitely the peak of my night. 🙏 It sounded amazing and they blended it perfectly with the shoutout.
.
My lovely Molko, always the prettiest guy in town 😍 You gotta fix your hair, right? Olsdal looked great to me, and since they swap drummers out like socks, I wasn't even surprised. They were awesome. It’s actually really cool seeing younger crowds know the old classics. Special K was the highlight for me, and obviously The Bitter End. I love how professional they still are—always introducing themselves at the start, everyone bowing at the end... just classy.
The mud was manageable, but thank God I wore my rain boots. 😁
Hey, what’s the mud situation looking like out there? 😬 On a scale from basic sneakers to heavy-duty muck boots, what am I actually going to need on my feet? If I show up and find a muddy Armageddon worthy of a Metallica concert, I’m turning right back around and heading home. 😁
amberskipper3 said:Lately, the media and even medical journals are starting to claim that the whole "eight glasses a day" rule is total nonsense. Personally, I could never chug that much water in a single day. I just stick to drinking whenever I actually feel thirsty. My skin looks great, I’m fit, and I don't deal with dryness... What do you guys think?
It's all just marketing gimmicks. You get hydration from plenty of different sources, not just by slamming down John or Evian or whatever else.
Chloe Gomez6 said:I’m constantly scrolling through ZZ, reading every single thread on gynecologists—I follow them religiously...🙄. But I haven't looked at anything regarding dentists or general practitioners. Maybe we should just ask, "why are we women so obsessed with gynecologists?" 🤣.
Well, it's because those doctors are digging around in your most intimate spots. The real question is how much discomfort each person can actually stomach. Yesterday, for instance, some girl at the gym locker room pulled her panties halfway down and spread her legs just to check if she started her period. 😲😲😲 I bet gynecologists don't exactly blow her mind. 🤣
And regarding those female OB-GYNs—I was actually asking about male specialists.
I don't know. So what, everyone who's an OB-GYN is only doing it because there's nowhere else left for them to go?
Generalizing is basically my favorite hobby.🙄 Some people just lump everyone together like that, yeah! They end up filling slots just because their first choice is full. It's a shame, but it's the truth.
And you’d probably go choke on some garbage too, wouldn't you? 🙄 People are way too quick to think every plant is edible, even though most of them are straight-up POISONOUS!
Yeah, I’ve got something similar going on under my left ribs too. She needs to run a biopsy to figure out what we're dealing with. The scan is pretty uncomfortable since they have to slide the needle between the ribs, but honestly, I don't get why my doctor didn't just suggest this from the start. Most likely, it's nothing—just a cluster of fat cells or maybe a fibroma or fibroadenoma, which isn't exactly life-threatening anyway. It hurts me quite a bit and gets in the way, but nobody wants to touch it. They're actually scared to remove them because mine is sitting right against the bone, and they don't want to risk poking the rib.
The doctor who did the biopsy told me that some people are just genetically predisposed to growing these kinds of benign lumps all over their bodies.
David Stewart23 said:Oh man....if this is the stomach flu, which sounds exactly like what you're dealing with, I've actually gone through it twice myself. It’s weird, it hit me two years in a row right at the start of September.😕 Anyway, for me, it was a total nightmare—all I could handle was plain toast and some tea that tasted pretty nasty, I lost a few pounds I definitely didn't want to lose, and I was just writhing on the floor from the pain since there isn't really a magic pill for it. But the silver lining is that it usually clears up after a few days, which is exactly how it went for me. Hang in there.👍
Stomach bugs and digestive issues always seem to flare up in the fall, around September and October. I don't know why, but I can practically feel my gut acting up every single autumn.😢
gentlemaker18 said:Yeah. No issue there. There’s zero smell because garlic doesn't break down like that until it hits deeper into your digestive tract. You might get some quick gas after about 24 hours and then you're basically cleared out. At least, that's how it works for me. Once that passes, nothing. If someone was slamming this stuff daily, they’d probably stink of garlic constantly, but doing it occasionally? No scent at all.
So, what kind of side effects am I actually looking at here? I haven't felt a single thing so far.
Props to you. Personally, I can't stand garlic or cinnamon... not even a trace!
gentlemaker18 said:If I swallow two or three cloves of garlic in a day, I get wind and end up hitting the bathroom pretty hard. Is this actually a good way to detox my gut? What are the pros and cons here? I've been reading that garlic acts as a natural antibiotic, so I’m wondering if it wipes out the "good" bacteria in my gut too, or if it just targets the bad stuff.
You're swallowing two or three cloves of garlic at once??? 😲😲😲 🤮
Look, I’m pretty much dead set against hormone therapy. I think messing with your hormones is a dangerous game you shouldn't play just to fix things like birth control, body hair, or acne. My cousin was barely sixteen when she started taking hormones just to deal with breakouts. 😱 I mean, the kid could barely even get her period started properly.
Don't get me wrong, I get people dealing with actual medical issues—like when your glands are malfunctioning or your blood hormone levels are legitimately off. But that's different. Dealing with a few extra hairs on your leg, some acne, or deciding on birth control? That’s just normal life. It doesn't require playing chemist with your entire system.
I’m honestly dreading going to the gynecologist because my past experiences have been absolutely TRASH. The clinic I first went to in small-town Ohio was a total DISASTER!!!!!!! From nurses who were rude and straight-up disrespectful, to having three or four different doctors rotate through in just a few years. And don't even get me started on my experience at Mayo Clinic—it was a joke. That doctor didn't even have half the equipment I actually needed. Now I need an urgent appointment, but I have no idea where to go. I've developed a massive phobia of gynecologists and I feel sick just thinking about it. It isn't even the exams themselves; it's the way they literally rob you blind and the complete lack of communication. It's disgusting. Mayo Clinic charged me a fortune for $167 and didn't even do anything useful.☕
😂😂😂😂 Hahahaha! Look, this woman just exposed the whole truth about America.
That’s exactly what they told me when I ended up in the ER with stomach pains. They claimed I had some "internal inflammation," and I was just like, 🙄🙄 Are you kidding me? 🙄 ☕
