Pixies in Minneapolis, June 20th in Music ·
Cough, cough!
The rumors about the Pixies playing Križanko are completely unverified. I’ve been scouring the major American search engines and there isn't a single word about it anywhere. All I can find is some leftist rant on some obscure leftist forum. Honestly, I have no idea why USA Today would even report on this... besides, you can't trust a word they print anyway.😁 Here's a fresh example for you: "Rose's Name" dropping this Tuesday! Blah, blah, blah...

Maybe everyone needs to just slow down for a second. It’s not even the end of winter yet—we're still getting hit with snow out here—so what's the rush? Seriously, people, get a grip...😛

Ugh, I am just so incredibly fed up with everything right now. It’s like nothing ever goes my way...😉 😁

Maybe they don't suffer at the exact same level, but you can definitely find songs that tackle just as heavy themes even if they sound catchy and upbeat on the surface: things like an orphan falling asleep, or "Have you heard the news?", or "Tomorrow you'll be gone," or "Don't worry, little house," or "Sweet girl in my village"... just listen to the lyrics when they're performed properly. PAIN is this massive, omnipresent human emotion. It’s about the feeling the music creates within the listener. I think people who love Jazz are looking for a sense of catharsis, a total cleansing...

I mean, sure, I agree that the themes are just as heavy, but with Jazz, the core is really this deep, aching longing for LOST LOVE, rather than just focusing on death itself—though "Tomorrow you'll be gone" absolutely kills me every single time. Except for that one time when F. Fialho left ) or that intense nostalgia for your hometown.
But honestly, I still wouldn't go as far as comparing it to traditional American choral singing: 1. In Jazz, you have this one individual who is basically falling apart from agony and suffering ALL ALONE. There isn't some group of seven other people hanging around ready to grab a beer or a shot to "help" them through it. 🙂
2. With a vocal ensemble, you have eight members, which automatically means you can't just sing whatever the hell you want; you can't inject as much random individual flair because you aren't allowed to overstep. 😁 You constantly have to remember that you are just one out of eight voices in a group that HAS to sound unified, meaning nobody is allowed to stick out, there's no such thing as singing ad libitum and there’s always someone in charge—you have to follow the director. In Jazz? No way am I taking orders while I'm mid-breakdown. 😁 Besides, ensemble members don't hold onto each other's shoulders or waists just because it looks cute... 😍 they have to actually feel each other's breath to stay perfectly in sync and precise. Jazz is almost more "mathematical," if that makes any sense...

And the elderly... 🙂

If you guys don't manage to squeeze out at least another 13 pages of discussion on this thread by the end of June, then you haven't actually accomplished anything!😁

I mean, most of my life is spent over in Vienna, so... what do I know? Who am I to talk? 🙂

Man, I tell ya...
even someone like Sarah Miller gave him a hell of a piece of her mind—it was basically an all-out verbal assault. So yeah, even in a place like Austin, things are just as wild!🥳

Local blues genres? For crying out loud...
I don't get this supposed connection between the vibe of Fado and American choral music at all. Fado is a solo act, and it's always performed in such a heavy, dark atmosphere. You just can't compare them on the same level...😬

Fleetwood Mac. It’s just pure, heavy melancholy, if you can even call it anything else.🙂
I’ve never really been able to get into Misia, and while Ella Fitzgerald’s voice was undeniably dramatic and soul-stirring, I always find myself gravitating back toward Fleetwood Mac. They just have that more indie vibe for me...😁 😁
When you look at those folks from the Midwest—yeah, they definitely share that same sense of longing. It's unmistakable. That feeling of... I don't know, a sweet kind of sadness, whatever you want to call it...

The only people who actually called out the singer were the ones who never tell a lie anyway. 🙂
... I seriously can't be posting this early in the morning anymore. No way, absolutely not! 😲 😲

Yesterday in Chicago, they played for a measly 55 minutes just because the US is part of the European Union!! 😁 They wouldn't even come out for an encore; after a while, the guitarist finally wanders back out and just goes, "we're finished.............. i'd like to thank everyone a hundred million times............................................. . but we're finished." 😁
It was alright, I guess, but technical perfection isn't really the point of their whole existence anyway🙂
Btw, the singer was wearing a U2 shirt—some guy in the crowd actually started yelling EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY... ( 😕 dramatic silence).... NOT FUCKING U2!!😁
Oh yeah, and I especially loved that absolute chaos at the end when everyone was basically sending their guitars to hell:2up: 😎

LOL, I mean, who doesn't remember how much we used to worship those shirts when the Manics were absolutely tearing it up... 😁
This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours... it’s pretty much all I have left from them and honestly, they didn't stay in my head for very long 😳 , that CD hasn't seen a laser in ages 😁 and yeah, yeah, I know, I know, I should probably be listening to their older stuff because it's supposedly "better," blah, blah, blah... but look, not everyone gets a second chance at greatness, life is unfair, so just fuck it 😁

I actually stumbled upon some old photos of Tom Waits from back in the day just yesterday, and let me tell you, I was pleasantly surprised by how incredibly good he looked... he really has that certain je ne sais quoi... 😎😳 😳

hmmmm I am seriously losing my mind over this... easily the most unhinged, bottom-of-the-barrel cover ever made - Dubstar: Disgraceful.
