No bars in Miami? 😕

Well, unfortunately, there aren't any real ones in the movies. 😁😁So now I have to trek all the way to New York just to catch a movie... what a joke.😕

I am seriously done with these Miami movie theaters...🙂 🙂😠 😠 ....
...is there anywhere else decent to catch a flick in the States? 🙂...

northernfalcon30 said:You've got a point, the movie just does some 'la-la-ing'😁 for perfectly good reasons, but I was actually thinking about the soundtrack, the actual CD 😉
By the way, I forgot to mention The Terminator—totally unfair of me to leave it out. It’s more than just a techno-robot apocalypse; the atmosphere is spot on... I love it (and Linda Hamilton).🙂
Since we're talking about books that inspired sci-fi films, I remember reading a short novel back in the day (at the local Barnes & Noble😕) called The Fly, and it isn't just better than the movie—it's incomparably better. A movie is just a movie; you can't kill it by calling it "standalone."😉

...see...truth is, I didn't listen to the soundtrack, but even that 'la-la-ing' in the film felt pretty well done...😁
....both Terminators are alright... man, the second one was a total revolution in special effects back in the day... Arnie, Linda Hamilton, the guns... haha, those were the days...😁😁
Haven't seen the third one... and probably won't...😁😁

...yeah, but it's basically just "la la la," then an orchestra kicks in, then more "la la la"... hardly any actual lyrics...😁

Reminds me of:
All that crying, really?
It isn't even raining.
I think I heard that music from Lord ??? somewhere once.

Honestly, I have no clue... I didn't even notice anyone singing during the GP.😁

🙂 😁😁😁

sometimes I just close my eyes and picture that rain falling over dying memories... ("I've seen things you people wouldn't believe... attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion, C-beams glittering in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate... all those moments will be lost in time, like tears in the rain...") - at least, that's how I remember it..

...I'm digging this...😢

But
but
that means we get two Gilliam movies in one year. I'm not sure the world can handle that much. 😲 ???

...honestly, at this rate, he'll probably just retire before then... :-( 😁

As long as they actually start filming, I'm in 🙏 !!!!!!!!!

...but I was just poking around online and apparently that movie is already finished too...😲..

I recently rewatched Adventures of Baron Munchausen.
Does this even count as sci-fi? I'm sure there are plenty of arguments on both sides.

Yeah, I haven't seen that one in forever...

If this movie doesn't show up ASAP, my theater is going to turn into the House of Flying Daggers...🙂

www.imdb.com should clear things up for you.

Hehe, obviously he hasn't seen anything besides Jurassic Park, so he's too embarrassed to admit it... every single post is just "I think I saw that one once... was it that thing in space? With the... uh... I can't remember..."—it's pathetic.🤣....
...honestly, I don't get why it's such a big deal to just be honest. Just recommend a movie and move on. -> Seriously, why are these kids' egos so fragile? 😁

Guess we've got more Gilliam fans in the room 😍...

No particular order here...

Alien – even if the others were decent (not counting that Deep Space Nine-esque fourth one), the original is a straight-up masterpiece...

2001: A Space Odyssey – a cinematic rhapsody with probably the most unique editing in history. Nothing else comes close.

Blade Runner – a classic in every sense of the word... hard to explain if you haven't seen it....

Dark City – even though The Matrix eventually grabbed all the glory, this sci-fi noir is superior in every way...

12 Monkeys – what can I even say? Terry Gilliam... I still remember feeling totally lost and stunned when I walked out of the theater. Subjectively, it might be my favorite.

There's my five, since we're at five...
Personally, I think the whole concept of remakes is just painful... I can't stand the copying and tinkering with someone else's work—it feels like theft, or just taking the easy way out. It’s like saying, "Hey, this guy had a great idea, but I can do it better." A film is someone's creation, their core concept, so seeing it recycled like this just rubs me the wrong way. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind if a movie serves as inspiration or a spark for something new, but blatant carbon copies? Not my thing. I've seen plenty of remakes, mostly because there wasn't much else playing at the time, but it still feels off. It's the same vibe you get with music or literature; there's just something inherently unappealing about it.

here's a little more...
..
The movie drops in France on 13 May 2005, following its showing at Cannes. Honestly, these are the ones that should probably be there too:

Woody Allen's "Match Point"
Lars von Trier's "Manderlay"
Jim Jarmush's "Broken Flowers"
David Cronenberg's "A History of Violence"
Michael Haneke's "Cache'"
Wim Wenders's "Don't Come Knockin'"

...
Also, here's the official movie site...so you might want to brush up on your French...
...
Oh yeah, Kim Gordon is in it too 😍....

Looks like the movie is finally done...🙂
Just like you can see from the photos I attached, it turns out that...
The movie isn't about Kurt Cobain....😁😁
...
Now we just have to see what kind of mess van Sant has cooked up for us... :-)
Round 2 in Movies ·
So, Vol. 2 is about half as exciting, tense, or actually interesting as the first one... plus, I feel like the whole point of the story just evaporated somewhere along the way. Still, it holds its own against the other horror releases coming out lately.
