I honestly can't even begin to describe how incredible his performance was 😵

I keep playing those versions of Overcome, Girls, and Ace of Spades over in my head—it’s such a rush! And man, that "my love for you" line from pasti Mistake just stayed stuck in my brain for the longest time. But wait, does anyone remember how they played Christiansands? It was wild! Also, does anyone recall which song they actually kicked things off with? I mean the one where they were all singing along together. And seriously, why do they perform Black Steel in such a stripped-down, almost broken way? 😕
Ace of Spades' performance wasn't half bad at all—honestly, it’s because of guys like Tricky that he's such a legend. And it isn't just because a woman was singing it, either! 😁

The Men in Editors turned out to be totally fine (maybe a solid 3.5/5?), though once they started, I had this nagging feeling it was going to be a total disaster since the vocals sounded so flat (words spilled from my drunken mouth 😳 ) and they basically just smeared through their new track 🤮—and then probably the rest of them too... yeah, obviously the rest of them 🙄—completely forgetting about the guitars, and people love them specifically for those guitars! 🤷
And hey, @restlessranger30, the crowd actually wasn't crap at all; they really pulled the band along right at the start, and since a good chunk of people knew the choruses, it helped things along 😁. Personally, I had a blast 👍

Art Brut was kind of a bore; I only caught the last few songs (I mean, shouldn't that sound more punk??)
Sergent Garcia drove me absolutely crazy with all that "revolutionary peace and unity" talk—you know, "mister on percussion, it's from France, it's from Cuba, this señor is from Brittany, we are totally international and we play salsa, ska, reggae, whatever you want" nonsense 👎

As for God Dethroned, I don't know... it just wasn't my thing, it felt pretty terrible to me, and I'm not even going to comment on the Smokers.
The weather was beautiful, so I spent some time just chilling on the grass, soaking up the air and the view near Central Park 😁

Overall, I'm super happy with everything I heard and saw—two really great nights out. Oh, and on the second day, I took the shuttle to the festival, which was a smart move on their part 👍. Generally speaking, the organization was pretty solid, except for the scheduling on the second day (I mean, if you have an extra hour to work with, spread the acts out so they don't overlap, right?)
edit: Oh, and I forgot the biggest oversight—the sound system at the Nokia stage was pretty lousy, which was most noticeable during Tricky's set

Oh yeah, @Jesse Sanchez60, how many people were there actually? The morning crowd looked like maybe 20,000, and the evening crowd felt like 15,000, but it's tough to say for sure when we were all scattered around
I'm totally pressed for time because I’ve got a midterm in less than five hours, but I just had to jump on here and set the record straight!
Adam Moore said:The editors🤮

But honestly? It wasn't even that intense—the guy actually seemed to sober up once he hit the stage!😁

edit: Oh, and I should probably mention—I can't even begin to describe my experience at Brooklyn. He played Ace of Spades😕 🙂 and right after that, I heard the news that Michael Jackson had passed away.😕 😕
Lily is honestly kind of a drag (is it just me, or does she look way less pretty than her photos suggest? 😁), I only really vibed with 3 or 4 tracks, so I'm definitely not giving them five stars. Actually, that's a lie—let's call it *1/2

Now, Apple totally blew me away (I had zero expectations going in, but wow, they sounded amazing!) ****

Kraftwerk ♥ I'M GOING TO THE CITY BUT IT'S MORE FUN TO COMPUTER LOVE ****+ extra points for that Robot(er) bit I actually regret that one time I casually mentioned that the Tour de France wasn't all that great
Because of them, I finally checked out one of those YYYs songs, and man, it felt so weird coming from all that minimalism to suddenly hearing so many guitar effects! And seriously, why do they even move around the stage so much?? 😬 Most of the newer stuff I recognized (Skeletons, Soft Shock) is mostly boring (except for Zero and maybe Runaway)—the acoustic version of Maps was a total miss, and the only song that truly hit the spot for me was Y Control. Shoutout to the crowd, though—at least people were jumping around! 🙂 **I'll stick with 1/2 for now, because who knows? Maybe they're great live, but all this production just ruined it for me 🤷

As for Franz Ferdinand, I wasn't expecting much since their new album is such a grind and I've honestly forgotten their first one, but it did bring back memories of Matinee, Take Me Out, and Tell Her Tonight (though today they almost sounded like some Unknown track? 🤷 ). ***

All in all, it was a beautiful day, even if my feet are absolutely killing me. 🙂

Anyway, I better go get some studying done—looks like I actually have some time after all 😳
Jesse Torres4 said:From what I can tell, there are only a handful of bands here, which honestly makes them worth checking out and listening to! So, yeah—this massive and hilarious (even if it’s basically unreadable 😁 ) breakdown of those three days could be super helpful for anyone planning to hit up upcoming festivals. 👍

But for me, it felt like all the music lovers were in this (not so subtle) agreement that this was the best lineup any festival has ever put together—assuming you actually trust 🤷lastefemu

Funny Wrong post and some photos 🙏 🙏 🙏
I’d say it’s probably right around 30 feet
Oh man, you're telling me Tricky 👋 👋
!
I am absolutely stoked about the Yeah Yeah Yeahs 👋 and honestly, I'm just as hyped for the Editors 👋
Why don't you try asking http://www.rokajfest.com/ (July 3rd–5th)?

They've got Sergent Garcia playing at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival! I've actually never heard of them—has anyone else here caught one of their shows? 🤣
The Gaslight Anthem 🙂
I honestly can't even bring myself to write this—it's just so hard to stay optimistic after what happened at the Scena stage... 😢

I guess I could go for Editors too, but as for the rest? Either I haven't given them a fair shake or they just aren't really my vibe. Maybe I'd give Blood Red Shoes a listen though...

Is anyone actually negotiating with any of these artists, or am I just daydreaming here? 🤔

🍿

Those are just my absolute dream wishes!
So, yeah—it’s pretty safe to say there's no actual negotiation happening

Seriously though, stop trying to tempt me with Massive Attack...

Imagine listening to Enya 👋
Christmas carols at the start of summer?! 👋
I'm totally on board with the indie selection! 👍

I mean—Les Savy Fav, The Shins, Ted Leo, M83, Belle & Sebastian, Wilco, and TV on the Radio...
plus I’d also throw in
Arcade Fire, Broken Social Scene, My Morning Jacket, Kings of Convenience, and The Decemberists

Honestly, if even just one of those bands shows up, the lineup is already going to beat last year's, right? 😁

Oh, one more thing—if I'm a college student and have a T-Mobile plan, am I eligible for a discount on tickets for $67? 😁
Kraftwerk 👋 👋

Honestly, instead of calling it Lollapalooza, they should just rename it "The Total Disaster Fest" 🙏
Dragonforce in Music ·
I just finished listening to their latest album—it actually snagged something like a 4.5 out of 5 on AllMusic, which is why I decided to dive in 😬—and honestly? They aren't half bad at all!
I'm totally with gentlepuma20 on this one.
Not really. 😁

I feel like I listen to music just as much as I used to—maybe even more? It’s just that nowadays I spend way more time glued to my computer, so I tend to use music as this constant background soundtrack more often than I did back in the day..
Like gentlepuma20 was saying, the whole "democratization" of bands happened because of the internet. Plus, there's a massive difference between how much you love owning a physical CD versus how much you actually love the music on it.
Honestly, I bet if we were still living in the era of cassettes and vinyl, I would've gone to way fewer concerts than I do now.

I think all of this is a good thing (or at least, definitely not a bad thing!). 🤷

Wait, hasn't a similar topic come up here before?
Shingles (Southern United States) in Music ·
They’re playing at the freshman orientation party over at the Liberal Arts building on December 13th (Boogaloo)—just thought I'd mention it in case anyone is looking for something fun to do!
Guns N' Roses in Music ·
It’s true (as stated on the factory website), but the ticket price is $67. :/ I see they’re charging 27 bucks over in Austin too, which ends up being almost the exact same thing...
Doors Down in Music ·
In October, they’re actually pretty close together—think somewhere near Switzerland or Germany—check this out.

I’m guessing you’ve got this thread linked to another one? If you look at the post dates, they definitely weren't replying to you!

And the topic
well, the topic
hmm
has a few decent tracks—maybe something like Duck and Run or Be Like That
. Kryptonite was such a massive hit, totally perfect for those teen dramas back in the day😁
.
uglavnom, their debut album felt really promising, but this later stuff? It just kind of misses the mark.

Anthony Bailey said:they translated it in the movie as a "replica" instead of a dæmon
😳

let's define this: a dæmon
A dæmon in the Philip Pullman trilogy His Dark Materials is basically the physical manifestation of a conscious person's soul. It's pretty wild how many traits of a dæmon actually line up with psychological concepts or ideas from all sorts of different cultures!

Yeah, honestly, that’s just the absolute worst translation ever... calling it a "replica." 🙄 I mean, seriously, could they not have just opened the book? 🙄

And look, I haven't even trashed the movie yet... though it was unbelievable, way too rushed, and felt totally childish. They messed with the sequence of events—and don't even get me started on why they changed the name from Iofur to Ragnar (I mean, it's not like that matters more than the actual reason Iorek gets exiled, right?)—plus they chopped off the ending, which is a massive mistake because the end of the first book is absolutely terrifying! Some scenes feel like they were only included just to get Nicole Kidman on screen...
I really hope they don't go making sequels and that someday someone finally makes an honest film that actually uses the right title 😁
Ugh, I feel absolutely terrible—I totally slept through my last 3 or 4 hours of sleep, and I have to be up at 6:30 tomorrow morning to charge my stuff and all that nonsense...
when I read this

gentlepuma20 said:Honestly, who cares about greed, dishonesty, or some nasty exploitative system when Thurston belts out "hey hey hey, you're my old friend of mine"? That guy just has a fundamental issue with the world and life itself!🙂

😍

What really worries me is whether there’s going to be more scheduling conflicts with the acts I actually want to see and hear. Since they started doing this, it's been a mess, right?😁

Seriously guys, these posts are totally out of line.
