Last year sales actually kicked off before the new year even started! 🙄

The website still says, "We’ll announce the exact ticket sale start date soon," so honestly, this lack of professionalism is probably more on Ticketmaster's end than the actual festival organizers. If you aren't living here in the States, don't even worry about it—I'LL BUY YOUR TICKETS FOR YOU AS SOON AS THEY GO ON SALE, and I'll snag them at the student discount too! 😉

I really don't get how you guys manage to turn everything into such a huge ordeal 🙏
If we're buying through Eventbrite, then I assume I can just print them out at their physical merch booths... but seriously, isn't it incredibly unprofessional that the tickets aren't even live yet? It’s so frustrating because we were all complaining just a second ago about why they even put them up for sale when they've only announced one (or zero!) headliners. 🙄

quietsailor97 said:but hey, now you're just trying to get a rise out of me!

I'm just trolling everyone who doesn't hang out here much 😁 and honestly, sometimes even them too 😬
But truth be told, I mostly agree with you—it would be way better if they brought in bands that haven't played here before, or at least haven't been here recently. Though, I have to admit, this sudden attempt at being "objective" feels a little weird coming from you, because I'd always just shout, "WHY DIDN'T THEY BRING MORRISSEY?!" Who cares about being objective when you want legends? 😬

and hopefully the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival becomes a massive staple one day.

😠
What are you guys even after?! 🙂
The festival is getting bigger and more organized every single year—you can really feel the difference.

this forum is actually turning into a fun place again 😁

I'd love to see Fleet Foxes, but I highly doubt it... they aren't even close right now. I'd definitely vote for TVOTR, though! 😁

edit: PJ Harvey is on tour and tons of her shows are already sold out... I really hope she extends the tour!

Woo-hoo!! This is it!!
Man, those prices are definitely a bit steep though... :/

Hey, can you strip the .th from those image links? It’ll make them show up much bigger! 🙂

edit: out of all that international stuff, I think I only actually recognize Dimension 5 😳
I’m not even going to bother thinking about this—it’s way easier to just type it out: you have to admit there’s something hilarious about saying, "I don't get people who list all the bands that played," and then immediately following it up with "I can't wait for Cave!" 🤣

I mean, what is actually weird about wanting to see bands that blew your mind the first time around? 🤷
edit: Or maybe they just missed them the first time! 🤷
Poetic freedom, my friend!
😛
😁
I think people have already told you this, but quietsailor97, I’m pretty sure Pearl Jam has a few lyrics just for you!

quietsailor97 said:+ honestly, I just don't get people who go around listing all the bands that have played in Washington, D.C. over the last two years.

And that National band—man, oh man—they were practically just here! And before that, maybe two or three years ago... and even further back... hmm... I don't know, but they've been here like three times now.
I mean, look, it's fine if they come, they're great, but if you're an actual music lover, wouldn't you want to see something new for once?

can't escape from the common rule:
quietsailor97 said:p.s. I still can't quite believe I'm going to be listening to Nick Cave live—so for now, that alone is more than enough reason for me to grab a ticket.

if you hate something, don't you do it too?

🙂
Larry Morales12 said:haha, I totally get you. That other stage really doesn't make any sense—it’s just a bunch of random, boring stuff, exactly like you said!

Right?! I mean, they've had acts like Tricky, New York Dolls, Caribou, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs playing there lately... !!!
🙄

By the way, where did all this sudden interest in Mars Volta come from? They aren't even out on tour right now, are they? 😕
It is pretty funny to hear they're considered "too expensive for a show in the middle of nowhere," though! 😬
edit: oh, wait, my bad—I totally missed the part about them "finishing up an album"...
I was honestly just thinking—maybe they should go ahead and overhaul the ADA first, and then we can see if ☕ 😬
actually show up!
Can you even imagine? Arcade Fire and David Bowie sharing the stage again—now that would be absolutely legendary! 😁
So, word on the street is that rokajfest might be happening again this year... though the big question remains—will they actually host it at Central Park? 🤷
I mean, if Radar was actually able to pull off getting Bob Dylan to Savannah, surely we could catch the Foo Fighters, right? But honestly, I’m a bit in the dark about this whole festival situation—it wasn't even around last year, and isn't it run by some international organization anyway?

What would you even say about the Steve Roach Quote regarding Structures from Silence 😁
?

Well, at least he’s got a sense of humor! 😁

I mean, track titles are usually pretty terrible anyway, right? 👍

Ugh, I seriously CANNOT stand it when people pull that "trust me, I know better than you, but I’m just not going to tell you why" routine! 🙂
🙂

Both are absolute legends, but personally, I’m leaning more toward The Earth is not a Cold Dead Place 🙂
When I just have them playing in the background, everything starts to sound pretty similar—kind of melancholic, maybe even a little cold at times—but honestly, they make for such an incredible backdrop for whatever I'm doing! But man, when you actually sit down and really *listen*? They absolutely floor you. It's just this massive wave of raw emotion and pure catharsis... they're stunning 😍 those slow guitar crescendos of theirs feel like the very definition of post-rock, at least the modern kind. I mean, most bands aren't even technically classified as post-rock anymore, but you know what I mean 🤷

feraltrucker5 said:Why hasn't there been any action on this thread since 2004? 😲 🤔

Because they haven't been around since then, 😢 apparently because they're "too big" now 🙄 or signed to some evil major label or something...

They're out on tour this year, but the closest they'll be getting to us is Cincinnati...
Honestly, they just feel so intense when you see them live—it’s not even about how they sound, it’s just that they get so incredibly swept up in the performance that it actually feels a little awkward to watch them 😳
I think you might have been a little too early on that System of a Down prediction a couple days ago—scary thought! But hey, you know what they say: never say never! 😁
And honestly? I think you're missing the mark here; Portishead would draw a massive crowd. It’s actually the only thing that makes sense—imagine seeing Seattle vibes right in the middle of Central Park:
2009: Tricky
2010: Massive Attack
2011: Portishead
😁

🙂

Brogan said:People really can't see the forest for the trees sometimes, constantly nitpicking over every tiny detail.

Okay, maybe not everything I listed was strictly positive, but that's the general vibe I'm going for...
But seriously, it's just you and a few others constantly riding Arcade Fire hard—once a few more bands get announced, reading this thread is going to be such an exhausting chore... though maybe I should just spend a little less time lurking around here! 😳
Yeah, honestly, you’ve got a point there—I was thinking the exact same thing! Both of those bands sound pretty much identical to me, don't you think?
Oh, don't you worry—I've got your back!
Daft Punk 👎 Daft Punk 👎 The Killers 👎 Franz Ferdinand 👎 Moby 👎 Editors 👎 Tracy Chapman 👎
silentdriver12, I don't necessarily think they're actually reading it, but maybe there's some algorithm tracking how many times certain bands get mentioned or whatever? Anyway, feel free to drop any info you have! I heard a rumor that Florence + The Machine might show up, but honestly, that doesn't mean much to me—I don't want to get my hopes up too high without knowing if it's legit... 😬

Henry Mitchell29 said:I really wish M.I.A. would perform...

I haven't exactly been following /\/\ /\ Y |_| 😁 but this is a way more coherent and decent post... well, until that last paragraph, anyway! I can see what you're trying to do there, but trust me—you aren't going to successfully push "slop" as a legitimate term!!! 🙂

The Shins aren't even touring right now, and who knows when we'll hear anything from them 🤷 since Mercer is busy with other projects 🙄 else...

Zachary Ward4 said:You've got to be kidding me... 😕

I REFUSE TO CHAT WITH YOU WHEN YOU'RE MIXING LANGUAGES SO TACKILY!!

😬

No, I'm not teasing you—that's just my take on it! But I was hoping you'd realize it's pretty nonsensical to compare those bands... I mean, both Arcade Fire and The White Stripes are incredible, influential acts, but they have totally different sounds! And even if comparing them made sense, this definitely isn't the place for it.
Look, The Dead Weather is a decent enough band—don't get me wrong—but honestly, nothing Jack White has done since then even comes close to the magic of Funeral. 😛
Man, though, wouldn't it be absolutely legendary if The White Stripes did a reunion tour and hit up Washington, D.C.? I was just a kid when they first blew up...

But seriously, is anyone actually happy with this lineup? It feels like everyone is just finding something to complain about, whether it's the bands already on the roster or the ones they haven't even announced yet! ☕
@Robin Booth, honestly both bands were incredible, but I’ve gotta stir the pot a little with Henry Mitchell29 just a bit 😳 he can be such a handful 😠
(I mean, are Massive Attack really that consistent and sincere when it comes to their political messages? 🙄)
Anyway, I won't 😁 further
But seriously, alongside Sonic Youth, they’re easily my favorite bands to ever play at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival so far 🙂

Kenneth Collins8 said:...and now someone is claiming I'm coming out with the wrong info...

You're only a quarter of the way through! Plus, Foo Fighters have shows scheduled across Scandinavia during both of those days, so you already dropped at least one mistake 😛

Arcade Fire are indie by default just because they're on Merge Records 🙂

The Shins aren't even touring right now, and I'm not sure if the Pixies are in Europe... but man, it wouldn't be bad if they were—especially The Shins, since they've never actually played a show in America.
