Edward Howard2 said:hard to see Kimi actually doing it...
but since he's basically becoming the lead driver once Felipe Massa takes over, maybe we can actually expect him to fight for the title...

I'll buy him a drink at the Chicago race if he manages to outrun Hamilton 😁

go felipe go 👋

Samuel Baker3 said:And when Kimi ends up being the champ again, I really gotta wonder who Jergović is gonna find to pin the blame on. Since the guy didn't take the title, he’ll be looking for a scapegoat, you know? Alonso isn't even in the garage anymore, so everything's basically just revolving around him now. 😂

Kimi’s only shot at grabbing that championship this season is if he starts playing on a PlayStation... seriously, there’s no other way it's happening.
I mean, looking at his recent runs, there’s just zero sign he's gonna catch someone like Hamilton. Not even a hint.

Look, honestly? After seeing how things went down at the US Grand Prix in Austin today, I really don't think we should be getting ahead of ourselves. It’s easy to get hyped up, but I just don't see this as some big sign that they're actually back in the hunt. Not yet, anyway.🤷

Yeah, you're spot on, Roger Williams3. That’s exactly what Vela said, though in my head, I kind of swapped him out for Balog instead.

then who was it???

Edward Howard2 said:Man, he really messed up such a solid drive with that desperate attempt to overtake Mark Webber. It was just... messy. Typical. 🤣

Man, honestly, it just happens. When you're moving at that kind of speed, things get intense fast and a wreck is always just one split second away.

Man, when you really sit back and think about it... if he’d been just a little bit further ahead, like maybe half a meter, that would’ve been Mark Webber instead.
Man, that penalty sucks. Total bummer, but hey, what can you do? It is what it is. 🙏

I've gotta say, I’m a huge fan of Kovalainen as a driver. The guy is just straight-up cool. 🙏

Man, Heikki Kovalainen was such a beast 👋

Man, forget all that, I’m just ready to see Kimi Räikkönen back on the track this season 🙏

But honestly, I have no clue what kind of aggressive move that was when he squeezed past Felipe Massa 😁

John Bennett4 said:looks like you’re a huge fan of Balog🤣

exactly🤣

but honestly, Balog had his own way of being sarcastic, sort of like watching a bottom-tier college football team try to play smart—just kind of throwing stuff at the wall and seeing what sticks, like petting a dead donkey or something.🤣

fadedfox18 said:Man, they’re total legends. Remember when Robert Kubica got stuck in the pits for 12 seconds while those guys were busy messing around? Once he finally rolled out, the crew was just standing there looking completely lost for like two minutes. 😛

It reminds me of watching some random local news broadcast back in the day where half the commentators thought Schumacher was leading the race, but it was actually Irvine in the front all along. 🙄
That's the real issue right there. I happened to catch the race by accident and... 😁

Angela Brooks51 said:I mean, sure, they made mistakes, but there's no need to go absolutely ballistic over it!
I swear I almost had a heart attack watching that reaction!!!

Personally, though? I live for that adrenaline rush...
thank God for that...

It reminds me of those old battles between Schumacher and Fernando Alonso back at Monza...
Man, I spent half the race standing up, jumping at every little twitch and any tiny chance someone might try an overtake. 🙏

Angela Brooks51 said:Hell yeah!!!
Can we just start a petition to get rid of all the idiots already? Seriously.😠

Oh man, please, stop talking nonsense. Seriously. They aren't exactly some kind of geniuses or anything, but look, I've seen way worse...

Look, I get it, I really do. I want things to be perfect too, but honestly? These guys are sitting in a studio surrounded by mountains of paperwork and enough monitors to run NASA just so they can feed us every single scrap of data we need for the race. They're working their tails off to break it down for us, and here we are, just chilling on the couch, basically cooling our heels, and then getting all worked up because someone tripped over a single wrong stat. It's kind of ridiculous when you think about it.

Just sitting here, thinking about what we were all talking about...

I’d much rather listen to this than that total bore sitting there with Bernie and Slavica. 🙄
That had absolutely zero to do with Formula 1, honestly. At least these guys seem like they're actually putting in some damn effort.

Anthony Nelson12 said:Man, people just don't get it. It's not even about saying Lewis Hamilton isn't a great driver—he is. But honestly, ever since Ayrton Senna, we haven't seen a "normal" driver. You had Michael Schumacher being a total jerk, Alonso was a little menace, and Hamilton? He’s just a straight-up rogue.
The only one who feels fair to me—talking about those absolute legends, obviously—is Kimi Räikkönen.

Most of the time, I pick my favorites based on that kind of thing, you know? Like, the whole package of who they are as a person, not just how fast they can push a car. Most of the younger kids on these forums don't grasp that because nowadays, everyone seems to worship selfishness, ruthlessness, and hypocrisy.

Wait, so you think Senna was "normal"???
I mean, weren't the battles involving Senna some of the nastiest out there? But you have to distinguish between having a massive hunger to win and just how far you're willing to go to get it...

I know what I wrote sounds a bit half-baked, but hey, it gives us a chance to see that most of the greatest drivers in history were actually just arrogant bastards....

Yeah, you've got Senna, Schumacher, Alonso, Hamilton.... 🙏

Edward Howard2 said:if the stewards dig in 🙄
Lewis Hamilton might end up with the win 😂😂😂

Honestly? I wouldn't even be mad if that happened...
because that move was just dirty, and you gotta penalize stuff like that. But first things first, they actually need to read the rulebook
🤷

Samuel Baker3 said:I remember reading somewhere once that Massa was the heir to Ayrton Senna and I just laughed my head off. Now? Today actually made me want to cry. Before the rain hit, he was only about three seconds behind Lewis Hamilton, then suddenly he’s finished 20th—even though that old guy was basically driving like he was heading to retirement

Kimi Räikkönen 🙏🙏

It’s pure luck, honestly. Even Ayrton Senna couldn't have fixed this one. If any of those three had taken the win, people would just call it a fluke. Let's be real: Massa didn't even spin once today, while those other two were all over the track...

And I gotta wonder, did Massa just let up at the end because he saw how much he stood to lose versus what he could actually gain? Like, what's the point?

You really have to ask yourself if it's worth dropping 8 points just to chase 2 points against Lewis Hamilton, especially since Kimi Räikkönen is falling out of the title hunt anyway.

Arthur Doyle70 said:There just wasn't enough room—not that he could've avoided it entirely, really. He pulled out of the pits, Kimi slammed on the brakes out of nowhere, then Hamilton swerved left at the absolute last second. One tiny little tap and boom, front end is toast...🤷

And on top of that, they slap him with a 🤷 10-position penalty for the next race.

Yeah, I'm with you on that....

Maybe from where we're sitting it looks weird, but an F1 car doesn't have the same steering angle as a regular car on the street, and the braking isn't quite the same either. If you actually watch closely, even though it was late, he did turn the wheel all the way and hit the brakes, it's just that timing was off. 🤷

Honestly, I think this 10-spot penalty is just totally ridiculous...

Because if we’re being real here, look at someone like DC—he causes crashes two times in a row and nobody says a word. 🤷

Bradley Nelson2 said:nah, there's a massive difference... getting screwed over during a pit stop and actually losing control of your car are two totally different beasts.

okay, I get what you're saying, but man, if we're going down that road, they might as well penalize Nico Rosberg too.🤷

I mean, come on, he still had to stay sharp, right? If we're being super strict about everything being black or white, then yeah, whatever.🤷

Look, drivers mess up, they make stupid mistakes all the time, but punishing them for this feels dumb. Plus, I really don't want to see anyone's championship hopes trashed this season just because someone higher up in the officials messed up. Like, imagine if Lewis Hamilton loses his shot at the title just because of some technical screw-up from the crew. That would be brutal.🤷
Trip Report: Canada (Montreal) - June 8, 2008 in Formula 1 ·
Bradley Nelson2 said:The penalty makes sense because it’s not really about whether he did it on purpose (if he had, the punishment would be way worse), it's just that he messed up through pure carelessness and basically snatched a potential win right out from under another driver. When a driver makes a mistake that obvious, you gotta penalize it.

Man, I don't know, we could sit here all day playing philosopher trying to draw parallels...
I mean, I'll say it again, Kimi didn't mean to, but he still totally screwed Sutil over...

It’s the same deal with Alonso in Monaco—he wrecked Heidfeld's race and nobody even blinked...

Honestly, let's just stop worrying about whether he ruined the leader's race or the guy in tenth. In F1, everyone's essentially in the same boat when it comes to the grind.🤷

And I bet Hamilton's already over it since he knocked himself out of the race anyway.🤷
Trip Report: Canada (Montreal) - June 8, 2008 in Formula 1 ·
Bradley Nelson2 said:you’re right, he really did mess that one up.

And honestly, just look at the timing... what if the light wasn't actually red for 20 seconds, but it had only just turned? Like, it was a split second thing...

I think we’re on the same page here—it's not like I'm playing favorites with Hamilton or anything, but I just don't see how he did that on purpose. This penalty? It's totally nonsensical.🤷

Maybe this sounds like total BS to some people, but if someone isn't out there trying to wreck another driver, then giving them a penalty like this just feels completely wrong to me.
Trip Report: Canada (Montreal) - June 8, 2008 in Formula 1 ·
Edward Howard2 said:you can't really compare this to what happened with Raikkonen. Back then, he just lost control of the car—it was one of those freak accidents that could happen to any driver, honestly.

I don't know, man, I'm still drawing that parallel. If we're being real, Raikkonen showed a lack of control there, just like Hamilton did here, and obviously, someone ended up getting hurt—Raikkonen in that case, and Sutil in this one.🤷
Trip Report: Canada (Montreal) - June 8, 2008 in Formula 1 ·
Bradley Nelson2 said:from what I could see, the steering wheel didn't even turn all the way.

What do you mean it didn't? Like, he cranked that thing all the way to the limit, and when he realized he was stuck, he just yanked it straight back...
