Windows 7 is definitely snappier than Windows Vista, but I guess Windows XP still reigns supreme in most benchmarks—you know, file writing, reading, data compression, audio and video processing, all that stuff.

They should be comparing it to Windows XP, like how fast applications actually run and all. Honestly, Windows 7 feels more like just a decent service pack for Windows Vista. 😁

Yeah, everything you listed there carries an 80 Plus certification. Basically, the 80+ program is just a way to push power supplies that hit at least 80% efficiency across different workloads.
So, they’re basically marketing units where the energy loss—the stuff wasted as heat when converting AC to DC for your components—is kept to 20% or less.
There’s even an 80+ Silver standard that sits somewhere between 85 and 88% efficiency.
It’s all fine and well, I guess, but those certified units can end up being up to 40% more expensive than those "generic" ones...😁 that I call the "budget basement dweller" specials.😁
I mean, props to you for putting in the work, but maybe you could've tested some of those average, cheap power supplies that actually get the job done for people with more modest needs. 😛

Look, I’ve been running one 350W unit for four full years now, and I've had a 550W Corsair for three.
They run perfectly fine and they're quiet. In the smaller build, I've got an 8800 GT, and in the bigger one, I went from two 8800 GTs in SLI to two Radeon 4890s in Crossfire.
I haven't had any issues at all—voltage doesn't really dip under load or anything—and I honestly don't see why I should drop a ton of money on overpriced Corsair, Tagpower, or EVGA units when brands like Corsair and Fortron are totally fine... you know, for us regular folks.
And as for those foreign tech sites? Half of those reviews are probably paid for just to hype up products and move inventory.
Windows 7 is pretty, sure, and maybe even "smart," but honestly, if I'm being real with you guys, Windows XP just feels faster across the board when I'm running apps.
A few days ago, I ran some tests—compressing files with WinRAR and WinZip, processing AVI files with ConvertX, and moving stuff from one partition to another—and Windows 7 consistently lags behind XP by about 10% to 15% in terms of write speeds and file copying.
As far as I can tell from my testing, this version isn't even 1% faster than Windows Vista.
I've got 4 GB of RAM (effectively 3.25 GB) and an overclocked Core 2 Duo at 3.4 GHz.
Can someone please just drop a quick tutorial on how to install this thing?

Well, look, for example, I do music production on Cubase SX. I've got a ton of VST plugins that just don't work on Windows 7, so I’d basically use Windows 7 for web browsing and gaming (DirectX 11).
So, I guess it's just easier to run a virtual Windows XP on top of Windows 7 than dealing with a dual boot setup with Windows 7 and XP.
As for the other perks of Windows 7, I won't go there. It's pretty much been said already.
None of those optional programs actually burn subtitles correctly for me. Every single time I don't use Nero, my subtitles just show up as question marks ?? on my home DVD player, and then they won't even load.
It seems like Nero is the only one that burns them right, you know? Like, at least with Nero, an SRT file actually works.

Honestly, they don't need identical names to work. I think that's just this old myth floating around from back in the day when we were using primitive tools to burn subtitles directly into the video, like those ancient versions of ConvertXtoDVD or old-school Windows avi converters.
Nowadays, all these modern programs handle subtitle embedding perfectly fine, even if you name the AVI "Peter" and the SRT "SubRip." It doesn't matter.
Plus, DivX players pick up subtitles just fine regardless of whether the filename matches the video file or not. It's not that deep, I guess.

Well, it's not ridiculous to me.
Maybe set aside some actual time and dig through mod cp properly. That's how we did it on our old forum, and it worked just fine back then.

But honestly, it wasn't like that. On Saturday night, there were maybe 450 users active and a few hundred people just reading, and I noticed only about five moderators had their status lights on. That means there are probably another five who aren't even showing up. 😁
And regardless, those 503 errors kept popping up non-stop. I suspect the real issue for most of the staff is that they don't actually get how mod Cp works. They end up wandering around aimlessly for twenty minutes when they should have just stayed in the control room. Training matters, you know? Not just the tech side. What good is a jet if you don't know how to fly it?
