Best ways to get rid of a cough? in Health ·
rustypanther39 (local) has shared a recipe that quite a few people I know have tried out, and while it truly does work wonders for many, unfortunately, it didn't seem to do much for my little one.
A more budget-friendly way to get the exact same results is to simply whip up a version using standard pork lard.

It might just be a persistent dry cough that’s lost its connection to that sore throat you recently fought off. There are some reliable over-the-counter options out there to help manage the irritation, like Robitussin or sometimes even a standard sleep aid, which can really help take the edge off so you can actually get through the night. That being said, if this keeps lingering, it would definitely be a smart move to schedule some diagnostic tests to see what's actually going on.
Generally speaking, you’re expected to stick with your provider for at least 12 months, unless you have a pretty solid reason to switch things up—like moving to a different city or being completely unhappy with your current doctor (there’s actually a specific term they use for that kind of dissatisfaction, though the exact wording escapes me at the moment). If you give Medicare a call, they can walk you through all the specifics, and once you figure out your new primary care physician, everything should proceed exactly as Angela Wright described.
I can't stop peeing! in Health ·
I’m dealing with a very similar situation myself, though I can really only offer my empathy since I don't have any profound solutions to suggest at this stage.
If I only have to get up once during the night, I honestly consider that a huge win. During the day, things are mostly normal, though yesterday I actually thought twice about going out for a walk because of how I was feeling. I don't think it's an infection, especially since I just had a urinalysis done a few days ago to check on some sharp pains I was having in my lower left abdomen.
Historically, I've always had a pretty resilient bladder, so I never felt the need to rush to the restroom constantly, even when I was drinking a lot of fluids.
During the daytime, it fluctuates a bit—sometimes it's perfectly fine, and other times I feel like I don't even need to leave my bedroom.
Visiting your primary care doctor in Health ·
It’s a mixed bag in here, for sure. While every physician is ethically bound to provide care to those in need according to the Hippocratic Oath, the reality is that they operate within a system driven by fee-for-service models, which means having an official patient file is a major priority for them.
That being said, you still have the right to medical attention even if you’re just on vacation or traveling far from your primary doctor. If there isn't anyone else available, your best bet is to wait until the evening and head to the ER—they will likely step up and help you out!
Personally, I find the whole situation quite disheartening, though. It feels wrong that someone in a moment of crisis should have to scramble just to secure basic medical assistance.
It is both tragic and frankly embarrassing.

Shasava, it really is such a pleasure to read how calmly you are handling all of these issues!
Of course, this might just be something temporary that doctors never even find a reason for, but I truly think you should follow the advice you were given and, just as you concluded in your last post, go see the doctor to get those referrals and run the necessary tests.
It is always better to visit the doctors "for no reason" than to leave a potential illness undiscovered.
I am wishing you nothing but the very best, and please do keep us updated on how everything turns out!

I would also suggest that you definitely go see a doctor as soon as possible! Based on how you described everything, it sounds like it could be bronchitis or even pneumonia, and those are certainly things you shouldn't take lightly.
Relief options in Health ·
The general rule used to be that if you find yourself stuck on a waiting list for more than a month, you could just head over to a private provider and file for a reimbursement through Medicare.
I’m fairly certain that policy still stands, though I haven't double-checked lately, so it would probably be a smart move to verify that first.
As for your tax returns—those medical bills can definitely be used as a deduction, provided they include all the necessary details like your full name and... well, I assume your Social Security number now too (I'm not entirely sure on the specifics, but the clerks handling the paperwork usually know the drill). The only real catch is that the tax laws regarding deductions are being updated, so there will likely be a cap on the total amount you can claim $2000.
Doc... help... it hurts! in Health ·
Every single day you're out on sick leave really needs to be officially accounted for with a doctor's note. Now, I know that in certain companies, there’s a bit more flexibility where you can just request a day off—like how I might ask for a day to handle some things and then just make up the hours later—but that’s really just a matter of what you and your manager agree upon rather than anything dictated by federal labor laws.
In a situation like this, it would honestly be a great idea to get the Department of Social Services involved, especially since we're talking about someone who is ill and sleeping right out on the street!
They might be able to offer some really solid advice on what steps can actually be taken to help.

In many cultures, enjoying a glass of wine—especially once you've finished your meal—is actually encouraged and viewed as quite beneficial rather than something to worry about.
As for the idea of a baby becoming intoxicated through breast milk, I don't think there is even any point in discussing it because that simply isn't a thing that can happen.
How can I help her? in Health ·
Yedwy provided a great rundown of useful information, though it feels like they might be holding onto a few lingering doubts of their own.
I honestly can’t blame anyone for getting worked up over someone else's struggles. To be truthful, I’d be much more surprised by someone witnessing something like this and remaining completely indifferent!
I had briefly considered whether this could be bulimia, but the sores on my leg don't really align with that diagnosis. Of course, we aren't doctors trying to pin down a specific label, but my main concern is whether there's a risk that this could be contagious or dangerous.
Joseph Morris5, you mentioned earlier that she’s currently training for something. Do you think her coach is actually aware of these ongoing health issues?
It might be worth having a conversation with them. Most serious coaches in the US wouldn't dream of letting an athlete train if there was an unexplained medical issue hanging over their head.
You really are facing a difficult situation here.
A few months back, I went through something remarkably similar while sitting in the waiting room for my primary care physician. She sent me straight to a cardiologist without much hesitation. After they ran an EKG and did a quick checkup, they basically told me my heart was perfectly fine and... goodbye! Even though I was visibly shaking, barely able to stand, dealing with high blood pressure, and feeling my heart racing, they just brushed it off by suggesting it might be the onset of a heart attack and then—once again—sent me on my way!
During that period, I was experiencing those tremors and feeling generally unwell quite frequently, but that particular instance was truly awful.
The doctors never actually bothered to offer an explanation for what was happening, nor did they seem particularly interested in investigating the cause.
Now that those symptoms have subsided, I suspect they might have been side effects from the dexamethasone injections I was taking to manage some heavy coughing and shortness of breath.
It is worth mentioning that I have dealt with thyroid issues for years now—an autoimmune condition where my hormone levels stay steady—but I am fairly certain that isn't the culprit here since my regular checkups show everything is within the normal range.
I suppose I haven't been much help, have I?!
I really just wanted to reassure you not to worry too much, but definitely pay close attention to how your body reacts, do your own research, and if these issues persist, try to figure out for yourself which specific tests would be most beneficial to request.
I truly believe the people on this forum can offer a wealth of great advice. Since doctors sometimes treat these kinds of concerns a bit too lightly, you really have to take charge of your own health!

If you're looking for a single remedy that addresses both iron deficiency and low blood pressure, red wine is truly your best friend!
Being a new mom and breastfeeding definitely doesn't have to be an obstacle to feeling better. If you make it a daily habit—and consistency is absolutely key here—by having about one small glass after lunch and another after dinner, you will likely see a wonderful improvement in both your iron levels and your blood pressure readings.
Just to clear up any potential confusion, I’m not just making this up; I actually received this exact advice from my doctor many, many years ago. Back when I was struggling with that specific combination of low blood pressure and low iron, it was actually serious enough to cause some changes in my heart function, which is why I ended up needing a stent.
It really did work wonders for me, and I am sincerely wishing the very same results for you!

wanderingcobra76 explained everything perfectly. If I were to add my own experience, I did feel a little bit of discomfort during the air insufflation, but the medical team looking after me was incredibly kind and made sure to tell me that if anything felt off, I should just speak up so we could take a brief pause. And that’s exactly how it went. The restroom was right there, so I managed to empty my system as much as possible without having to sit there for half a day. I felt completely fine afterward, so on my way home from the hospital, I decided to stop by a grocery store. That turned out to be a mistake! All that walking actually stimulated my digestive tract, causing some of that "chalky" residue from further up to start making its way toward the exit. So, my best advice is to arrange for a ride home and make sure you're near a WC!
They really ought to walk you through the entire procedure once you arrive, but if they don't, please don't hesitate to ask them to explain everything clearly to you!

To be honest, compared to my colonoscopy, the barium enema felt like nothing at all. I couldn't stop smiling from ear to ear after I finally got discharged from the hospital.
The only real struggle was that I decided to walk home since I live right near the medical center, and I could barely make it back to the WC.
Autism awareness and support in Health ·
Personally, I’m of a different mind than the rest of you because I truly believe this warrants a deeper investigation! I have a lot of faith in a mother's intuition, and I'm certain she can sense when something just isn't right with her little one.
Beyond that, getting to the bottom of the situation early on means we can provide much more effective support for the child once we actually know what we're dealing with.
I am sending all my best wishes your way, and please do keep us posted on whatever the specialists at the Mayo Clinic have to say!

How can you be sure it isn't psoriasis?
I happen to know about a really effective ointment that has provided relief for quite a few people (it has even worked for certain types of psoriasis), though I’ll refrain from mentioning the specific brand here just so nobody accuses me of trying to push some random product on you. If you're interested, I would be more than happy to send over all the details via private message.
Intestinal parasites in Health ·
It typically happens when someone accidentally ingests their eggs, perhaps because they didn't wash their hands thoroughly enough after contact. It's also worth noting that there are actually several different types of intestinal parasites out there.
Those tiny white worms generally cause intense itching around the anal area since they migrate out of the digestive tract to lay their eggs. Besides that specific symptom, you might also experience some abdominal cramping or other issues, though I can't quite recall the rest of them at the moment.
If a person is eating quite a lot but still losing weight, it could point toward a tapeworm infection, assuming the weight loss is due to parasites rather than something else entirely, like thyroid issues or diabetes.
I would definitely recommend checking in with a doctor. There are some really effective medications available nowadays where you just take a pill and everything gets sorted out!
