Of course we have a first aid kit at work,
but it doesn't contain any hydrogen peroxide, Betadine, or any kind of antibiotic ointment (they used to include Geokorton ointment in the kits once upon a time).
It’s quite interesting—apparently, according to the new regulations, fish oil isn't included anymore because the rules say you shouldn't apply anything to burns, just cover them with sterile gauze. While that makes sense for severe third-degree burns, what about those common first-degree burns chefs deal with all the time? Cold water followed by some fish oil works wonders. I remember burning my entire forearm on a hot sauce I pulled off the gas stove; thankfully, I had cold water right next to the pot, so I soaked my arm for 20 minutes. After applying some fish oil, all that was left was a little redness and stinging.
Isn't it strange? Back when I worked at a hotel undergoing a massive renovation where an Italian company was delivering all the new equipment, they brought over these Italian first aid kits that actually contained hydrogen peroxide and a local version of Betadine.

I visited three different pharmacies today, and not a single one would sell it without a prescription. Even at my local pharmacy, where they actually offered to give me Seretide without a script—saying I could just bring the paperwork in tomorrow—they wouldn't even take a deposit... It's obvious they've really tightened up the oversight lately.

Look, sure, an overdose is possible if you apply it over huge areas and it gets absorbed...
But when we're talking about a tiny cut on my finger, what are the odds of an overdose? None at all—unless I'm dousing myself in Betadine every five minutes, and even then, we aren't exactly living in the tropics.

We have this hand disinfectant, something similar to Plivasept, though I wouldn't dream of putting that on an open wound.

In that case, I might as well overdose on fish ointment (yes, I use it on first-degree burns after cooling them down; sure, they react differently, but if they can survive as many burns as I have, then maybe I should start listening to them!)
Or should I go with Neosporin? Which one is worse? Should I buy it and apply it after work to a wound that got wet and dirty despite the bandage (meaning, exposed to bacteria), or should I just let the wound fester and take sick leave? I can't work with an infection, especially with the risk of spreading something like strep—honestly, why am I even worrying about this after failing to meet the basic hygiene standards today? That’s just another "brilliant" move from the Department of Health—if I learned these things in school, which I did, and in much greater detail, I should always be able to answer these questions without needing extra lectures.

My job description basically includes getting cut a few times a year, plus the occasional burn... And sure enough, I nicked myself on a meat slicer today, right on the knuckle. For stuff like this, I don't bother running to the doctor; I just take care of it myself. Since I'm constantly in and out of water at work, wounds usually heal up within a month (I'm a chef)
Usually, I rely on Neosporin ointment and Betadine solution.
I always keep one tube of Neosporin in my medicine cabinet at home—I won't touch Tirosur because the packaging is too small and it's way overpriced.
I'm planning to pick up some Betadine today, but you can't get it without a prescription.
So now, I have to go see my primary care physician just to get a script—not that it matters much since it's a generic brand and you're paying out of pocket anyway.
Isn't it ridiculous that you need a prescription for something so basic?
I even had to pass a first aid certification just to be qualified to provide help on the job, yet I can't even buy standard Betadine on my own?
Am I really expected to visit a doctor for every little scratch?

Not every single flagged post needs to result in a penalty. If a moderator decides a post doesn't actually violate any rules, then it shouldn't be sanctioned.
I've reported plenty of posts in the politics section that didn't lead to any action. Honestly, if I opened a new thread for every single report that went unpunished, the administration would have to print a massive manual just to document my insignificance! :-)

Of course I don't expect every reported post to be sanctioned.
But isn't it tragic that on the tourism board, it seems perfectly fine for people from the coast to insult residents from other parts of the USA, yet if those locals were to fight back, they'd be the ones punished?
And what about Šatrunčika? She isn't even penalized when she tries to drive other members away from a thread just because they disagree with her. It really feels like she can do whatever she wants on the tourism board.

I just want to know if I’m going to get penalized for saying something offensive about Dalmatians? Is it perfectly fine for a Zagorje girl to insult people with labels like peasant or serf, yet if someone says something similar about Dalmatians, they face punishment?
And where does she get the right to drive users away from the Guest Experiences thread? (Personally, I experienced this last year.) If that's the case, why not just rename the thread to "For Renters Only"?

I never claimed the moderators aren't doing their jobs on the Tourism board, but it’s an undeniable fact that certain things are tolerated when "old-timers" post, while those same actions aren't tolerated for newcomers or anyone who isn't a permanent fixture on the forum.

Happy Easter to you as well. I consider myself relevant because this isn't the first time she has gone unpunished; I actually reported one of her posts once before, and someone higher up finally took action (I believe it was Nica back then).
Just do your jobs, but the truth remains: you allow certain people far too much leeway.

I realize that reporting this post won't change much, as the moderators here on the tourism board never seem to discipline Šatrunčika. It feels as though they've cultivated a specific little circle that calls all the shots.
I don't visit the tourism section very often, but whenever I do, the posts from certain Forum Users leave me feeling completely exhausted.
When will the moderators finally start doing their actual jobs?
I know I'll likely be the one penalized for speaking up, while Šatrunčika escapes without consequence—even when her posts include insults and political talk that has absolutely no place on a tourism board.

It’s honestly heartbreaking to see moderators like the one overseeing the tourism section even holding a position here. In my eyes, a moderator who openly insults forum members has hit rock bottom.
To make matters worse—though I can't provide a specific instance because it happens so systematically—regular users who aren't professional vacation rental owners are denied access to certain threads, as if those discussions are strictly reserved for landlords, much like this one.
Does the supermoderator, or even you, truly look at how these moderators conduct themselves?

I was browsing the tourism thread today regarding guest experiences. In my opinion, the way that magician is insulting Rachel Jones8 is absolutely grounds for being sent to the cardboard box.
But more importantly, even the Tourism moderator, Blue Sky, joined in on the mockery instead of stepping in to stop this blatant disrespect and penalize the behavior already taking place.

Wouldn't it be better to wait for an answer from one of the doctors on this forum? I'm not entirely sure if it's even permitted, though I have personally combined them many times before.
Advil is essentially ibuprofen, while Tylenol is paracetamol. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve taken Tylenol only to find my fever hasn't budged, forcing me to reach for Advil because it works so much more effectively at bringing temperatures down. Is there any better way to tackle a fever?

At that last visit, he told me I could finally take the bandages off on Friday and start soaking my toes in some antiseptic solution a few times a day—they actually had to remove the nails on both my big toes.

My spirometry results come back normal every single time, yet here I am still dealing with asthma... I was coughing just as much as you were, too. Even my bronchoscopy came back totally fine! In the end, they finally diagnosed me with asthma based solely on my IgE test results...
It’s such a shame they didn't perform plethysmography for you—it's essentially like spirometry, but they seal you inside a booth. It actually measures resistance in those tiny airways. For me, the R tot value is always elevated.
