Michael Ortiz68 said:😁 The Great Illusion I haven't watched it yet, even though The Great Escape has been sitting on my hard drive for months. Two and a half hours feels like a massive commitment, and honestly, what am I going to do when I’m already such a lazy slob? 😬
Anyway, first item on my shopping list is... Escape from Sobibor Thanks, briskhound2. I’ve been digging into the actual facts surrounding this event, and I have to say, it's going to be on my watchlist starting tomorrow. 🙂

Edit: Does anyone know of any movies about an escape, or an attempted escape, from the Siberian gulags? The only one that comes to mind is this one: As far as the feet will carry you.Look, a frozen wasteland isn't exactly the ideal setting for an Escape, but I've read that people still managed to pull it off.

Take it from me—every single minute of those two and a half hours is going to keep you hooked.👍

The Great Escape and Life is Beautiful👍

"The Great Escape" and "Life is Beautiful" are the ones I voted for—honestly, they're the best in my book.

@ briskhound2
You've been putting together some killer polls lately, seriously, nice work.
But look, I’ve gotta ask—why didn't you set these things to close automatically after a few days?
It would make it way clearer who actually won, though I guess this way works too, if you don't mind the waiting.

David Price5 said:Has anyone actually sat through all the extended editions?

Me 👍

I’ve got the theatrical cuts for all three movies and the extended versions meant for home viewing.
Between the two versions—watching the extended ones twice and the originals once—that adds up to nine full viewings of the trilogy. Nine times.

Olivia Alvarez said:It’s impossible to pick—at least for me. Every single scene across all three movies is flawless. 👍

I totally get where you're coming from, man. In my book, this is hands down the greatest trilogy ever made in cinematic history. 👍
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy in Movies ·
I went with Return of the King because it’s got the most adrenaline and finally wraps up that massive epic.
Look, it's tough to separate them—I hate picking favorites—but if I'm forced to choose just one, it's definitely part 3. Don't get me wrong, parts 1 and 2 are absolute masterpieces, truly top-tier stuff.
All three movies are flawless; I gave them all a perfect 10/10 on IMDb 👍

The doctors 😁

Hold on, first there's David Price5 🙂 I know, I know—sometimes my mouth moves about three seconds faster than my brain. Honestly, here it was more like my fingers were moving three seconds ahead of my brain because I was so eager to get this poll open. That's how the typos happen.
And hey, don't worry, the typos won't be a constant thing anymore... hopefully. 😂

Now, for Nicholas Walker3 😍
I get it, man—it's one single story split into three parts. But look, just like you have a favorite scene in a movie, you can still have a favorite installment of a trilogy. 👍

Alright, let's settle this once and for all—which one is actually the best movie in The Lord of the Rings trilogy?
Is it The Fellowship of the Ring
, the sequel, or the finale?!

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)

And the winner is... X-Men: The Last Stand 👍

The runner-up was incredibly close—honestly, they missed out by a hair🙂

Thanks to everyone who took part in the vote 👍

goldenhound32 said:I disagree. If we were truly seeing a consensus, I’d expect at least 50 votes within a 12-hour window to call it a success.

Come on, let's stick to the topic. If you don't have anything meaningful to contribute to the discussion, there's no need to just ramble.

I am not rambling; I am providing specific reasons why I believe this poll is fundamentally flawed.

Even 50 is a low bar if we're trying to round up to 100. 👍😂

I'm looking at the trend here... 🤣 Look, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em, I guess—but that's exactly why I'm saying run for the hills, folks. Don't bother voting; this poll is an absolute disaster. 😂

Donna Gray4 said:And the absolute kicker, the funniest part of this whole mess, is that Pearl Harbor is actually leading the pack with 11 votes 🤣🤣

That is spot on.🤣

21 votes in just about 12 hours—which tells me people actually dig this poll. Look, let's cut the off-topic nonsense; if you've got nothing useful to say regarding the actual topic, don't just bark into the void.

What’s eating you, Christian Taylor3? 😕 You not feeling the poll? Then why are you even hanging out here? 🤷 If you think you can do better, go ahead and start a better one, but personally, I think this is great. 21 forum members voted, which means they're fine with it. If you like it, vote. If you don't, just move on. It's not that deep.

Whenever I see a thread I'm not interested in, I just skip it. I don't bother annoying the person who took the time to post it.

We aren't handing out Oscars or some prestigious award here—it's not like the world is going to stage a protest because Full Metal Jacket didn't make the cut. The whole point is just to have a good time. To include every single movie, like Full Metal Jacket, the poll would need to have 100 entries. I narrowed it down to 29 by picking a decent mix of war classics, dramas, and adventures. Obviously, you can't please everyone, but I really don't get the people who show up just to bark like dogs trying to sabotage the fun.

Oh, and I almost forgot—I should probably add battles from Mexico, and I totally missed checking out movies from Russia, Turkey, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, the US, Canada, Spain, and every other country on the planet. Since they probably all have great war movies too, maybe I'll just throw them all in and make the poll 500 movies long. Ha ha ha! 👍

Donna Gray4 said:It’s a little surprising, honestly, but I guess it is what it is.

Maybe we could throw in some other polls that haven't been posted yet?

I already have, but thanks for the suggestion! 👍

The X-Men poll is running from November 8th through November 12th—so if you haven't cast your vote yet, go ahead and get it done. Also, I just opened a new poll for war movies, which will stay live for seven days, specifically until November 17th, 2009.

Here’s what I voted for:

A Bridge Too Far (1977)
Platoon (1986)
Life is Beautiful (1997)
The Thin Red Line (1998)
Saving Private Ryan (1998)
Behind Enemy Lines (2001) — actually, I clicked this one by mistake—I meant to go with Schindler's List or Saving Private Ryan instead.
Spielberg's The Pianist (2002)
The Rise of Evil (2003)
Downfall (2004)

In my book, these are the absolute favorites when it comes to war movies, which makes them the best, period.

War Movies - picking the absolute best from the greatest hits

- It would be great if you could leave a quick comment about the flicks you voted for—or at least tell us which ones made your cut-

The whole point here is war movies, or anything else that touches on conflict in any way. Naturally, I’ve put together a poll filled with tons of war films—most of them legendary titles that basically defined cinematic history
.
War cinema covers a lot of ground: we've got the all-time classics, intense dramas, action-packed adventures, stories about POWs... you name it. I went through all those different angles to grab the heavy hitters, and even some gems that might not always top everyone's list but definitely hold their own. Basically, if it involves combat or the chaos of war, it’s probably in this poll
.
You can select multiple options here—meaning you don't have to just pick one. Since there are so many different sub-genres, I figured it makes sense to let you vote for several.

image image image image image image

I did my best to pull in all the heavyweight titles by cross-referencing Wikipedia and IMDb so I wouldn't miss any essentials. If I did happen to leave something massive out, don't go too hard on me—just vote for what's on the list, because I'm certain there's plenty of greatness to choose from
. Thanks for understanding beforehand

Kate Harris4 said:It looks like everything is settled here, and by all accounts, Extinction is taking the win.

I actually voted for Degeneration, but I was honestly expecting the first installment to come out on top. So, seeing the third one holding such a massive lead is a bit of a shock—but hey, I guess that’s exactly what polls are for, right? To see what the community actually gravitates toward.

It’s pretty telling, though—in a different poll, X-Men pulled in 25 votes in just a single day, while this one has only managed 24 votes after three full days. It just goes to show how much better and more popular the X-Men series really is compared to this.

And honestly, I wouldn't be surprised—it was pretty much expected and a total landslide. 🙂

The community voted, and the winner is Resident Evil: Extinction as the best entry in the Resident Evil series!

Big thanks to everyone who cast a vote 👍

Harold Kelly said:I’d definitely go with the first X-Men movie. Personally, I wasn't a huge fan of Wolverine.

Look, I think all four movies in the X-Men series are pretty much on the same level—like I’ve said before—but I’m curious about one thing: do you think Wolverine is just the weakest link in the X-Men series, or do you actually think it's just a bad movie in general?
The X-Men series (2000-2019) in Movies ·
X-Men Origins: Wolverine 👍

Honestly, all four movies are solid, and picking just one is a total headache—but if you’re forcing my hand, I’m going with >.

Or maybe 100 women and 200 boobs😂

Laura Booth6 said:I didn't really like it😢—probably because I was expecting something completely different..

I was looking for a legit horror movie, not some kid stuff—and yeah, even Freddy Krueger is technically "kid stuff," but at least he has actual value and quality. That’s why he works. This garbage they're hyping up to the heavens? Just... ugh. Not again.

I know I was more excited than I've ever been when I bought the gameplay footage, but instead, I just got a full-on review of the Resident Evil movie 😍
At first, I thought they were great and all, but now I'm just completely let down by all the sequels (I don't even count Degeneration among those starring Milla) because they don't follow the game's plot at all.
With a storyline like that, the movie could have easily had a different name entirely. Romero should have taken the Resident Evil title like he originally intended, and the first film should have featured the S.T.A.R.S. team, Wesker, Birkin, and the rest of the crew.
Raccoon City should have been the main setting, with the S.T.A.R.S. members as the core characters. 🤷 Simple as that.
I've been a massive fan of the game since '96 when the PlayStation first came out, so it's just such a shame we never got a high-quality adaptation that actually does justice to the game.

I feel the exact same way.

It sucks, but what can you do when they just wanted to cash in on the hype surrounding video games without putting even an ounce of actual effort into the movies themselves?
