Johnny Depp and Jeff Beck just dropped their new album on the 18th. You’ve gotta check it out, especially this specific cover...
People absolutely tore it to shreds right from the jump. I haven't sat down to listen to the whole thing yet, but honestly? This Velvet The Beatles cover doesn't actually sound half bad to my ears...
Time for another round of the absolute favorite game on this awesome subforum!
The Rules: For anyone who needs a quick refresher (or just a friendly reminder):
Everyone jumps in by adding a song to the existing list based on the current theme. Once someone hits the 10th song in a row, they get to kick off a brand new thread by picking the next theme and dropping the first track.
Just like all our other games, make sure to include a YouTube link or something similar so we can actually listen!
The possibilities for themes are basically endless... We could go with something super simple based on random associations (which is how we're starting), dive into technical stuff like music theory (think epic guitar solos, killer horn sections, or heavy drum intros/outros), or even go totally abstract and weird based on whatever you feel like.
It’s also fun to pick themes tied to history or maybe even religious vibes—like the Seven mortal sins.
One quick thing: when you add your song, please copy and paste the previous tracks in the list. It keeps everything organized so we can see the full sequence at a glance!
And hey, if a lot of people want to join in, let everyone else get their ten songs in before you start jumping between multiple different threads... stay fair!
Dennis Hall41 said:I find this whole thing hilarious! Honestly, why don't we just start a dedicated Comedy Movie subforum? I mean, seriously... does anyone actually think Top Gun belongs in the same category as The Seventh Seal? It's just not adding up...
Pop music just hits differently when you're talking communication styles compared to rock... It’s not even about the music itself, really. You probably could have picked up on that back when people weren't even biting on your trolling about bands...
Charles Ramos4 said:Look, if you guys don't think we should keep pushing the Album of the Week thing, then let's just lock this thread and move on to something else! The Song of the Day didn't really take off, but hey, no harm in trying something different... right? Let's shake things up!
So, I'm putting this thread on hold for now... just gonna park it here with a note that we might pick things back up down the road. It’s not like we aren't still thinking about it! I just haven't hit on any better ideas lately... honestly, my brain is a bit fried... Anyway, I've dropped the links to the albums right here too, just in case anyone wants to dive in, give them a listen, or drop a comment if they're feeling inspired... enjoy!
It’s not even about being too busy... it's more about how the folks who vote for certain albums eventually just stop showing up to the thread, while everyone else just treats it like a suggestion box. Sure, we could easily fix the format or tighten up the rules—like, say, if you don't comment, your suggestions don't count until you actually engage and listen to the Album of the Week instead of just popping in once a week like a robot...
And leave Jessica Morris6 alone! She still hasn't quite grasped the massive difference between catchy pop tunes and actual roots music. 😛
There might be a bit too many of them, honestly. They're playing at this year's Rocklive again, and hey, I guess people will show up regardless... They usually pack out indoor venues pretty well during their solo gigs, though. I'm not sure if that recent social media blunder by Boris had anything to do with it, but it feels like they don't really have much new to offer lately...
The plot is kind of a mess, even if the ideas behind it are actually pretty cool. There’s just something about that weird, surreal theater vibe that keeps you hooked enough to finish it, plus the way Shyamalan shot the whole thing... but honestly? I still think this is easily one of his worst movies yet.
I’m shouting your name into the void But all I get back is the sound of a heavy downpour Then you finally step into the light And it hits me... it's just not you anymore...
I wasn't even looking for it! I was actually focused on something else entirely when I just stumbled right onto this... Honestly, regarding those root tweaks, I'm totally with you—they're a headache and really shouldn't be there in the first place, but we've already managed to get that sorted out in the meantime.
I went ahead and cleared out all those posts bunched up right before that one long-standing one. Honestly, looking at how you've rated things in the past, this whole thing about me being biased doesn't even matter...
I’m not even going to get into your excuses for why you post or don't post on certain boards. I stumbled upon some of your old stuff ages ago where you were just tearing into the mods for no reason on the same subforum, so I’m definitely not taking this personally!
brightwolf48 said:If you actually had any mod authority and an ego to match, you would've told that boring-as-hell moderator a long time ago to quit it with the "extremists" nonsense. But I guess that's just "funny," isn't it? Just like every single Fass post filled with that weird attitude and all those passive-aggressive comments.
Who, limun? Well, why don't you tell him yourself? Let him give you his own answer.
brightwolf48 said:The main thing is you're just protecting your "funny" little jokes.
Just so we're clear, I am not playing favorites. Fass also announced they're done posting on Music because of me—all because I didn't delete a single post where this "innocent victim" who wrote the original thread decided to attack Fass's post instead of actually engaging... just so they could come here and start drama.
If you want to play it that way, fine. But don't act shocked when the next minor hiccup results in a massive penalty that makes people crawl out from under their rocks. At that point, back-and-forth arguing won't be allowed for anyone, period.
Honestly, I’m just over dealing with people who have nothing better going on in their lives, so they use online spaces to dump all their frustrations since they clearly lack any other productive way to express themselves... seriously...
Look, you've read the messages, you've had your say, and let's just agree we aren't going to keep dragging this tone along, even if it is just a chat room... As for the deleting stuff, I wasn't trying to shut anyone out, but honestly, I'm just not about wiping out half the conversation just so everyone can feel all soft and protected after someone talks trash.
Nicholas Watson said:well, that’s just how you see it but honestly, some people really love reading stuff like that! Especially when it's about a movie based on a book or a comic book... it just adds so much magic to the whole experience...
And what's wrong with having a chat? Or we could even start a special mega-thread just for that, you know, specifically for Marvel fans and all that... I'm totally down for whatever!
Nicholas Watson said:So, does that mean we can't speculate on the project, talk about rumors, or dissect the trailer anymore?
Look, once the movie actually hits theaters, you’ll be scrolling through endless pages just to find actual reviews—you know, the stuff a random forum browser would actually care about. Everything before that point is basically just noise... honestly, it's better suited for a quick chat room.
Just look at this thread for The Dark Knight right now. Thirty whole pages of people guessing what might happen or arguing over the trailer. In short? Thirty pages of absolutely nothing.
