Sometimes I just find myself looking back at his whole body of work and how much he shifts depending on which band he’s playing in. It’s wild how much he changes things up.
Take tonight, for example... Mr Bungle - Retrovertigo
"Now I'm finding truth is a ruin... Nauseous end that nobody is pursuing..." 🙂
That’s easily my favorite thing he’s ever done. He just mocks everything... the irony and the metaphors are so heavy. I bet someone over at the CIA wrote a whole report on how surrealists love to mess with your head, and you can totally see that playing out in his recent movies 😁
Honestly, I think it’s all just one big game. You know what they say—it’s not about being the hottest guy in the room, it’s about being the most persistent one! Plus, those persistent types usually have a much better handle on social cues... like knowing exactly how to break the ice or saying the perfect thing at just the right moment.
I might be oversimplifying things here, but in my experience, everything boils down to action and reaction. Like, you throw something out there to her, and if she’s feeling it, she’ll bite... then you build on that momentum and just see where the wind takes you. That's how you really tell if there's chemistry and which way things are heading.
At the end of the day, these little "games" are what actually build a relationship. Depending on who you're dealing with, it can be super easygoing or totally complicated. Sometimes it’s just natural and flows perfectly, and other times you're definitely playing it smart to make a great impression (and keep them hooked!).
So yeah, social compatibility matters way more than just checking boxes on a checklist. Sure, physical attraction is a start—I mean, let's be real, it helps!—but that’s hardly enough. Everyone should just look inward and reflect on how they actually ended up in their own relationships.
Most of the comments in the original post feel way too stuck in old stereotypes to me. They don't really help solve anything, and they certainly aren't a good roadmap for how to actually flirt successfully.
It's a game! It's meant to be fun! Either you know how to read the room and steer the conversation in the right direction, or you just haven't picked up enough patterns yet... you know, reading the body language, spotting the interest, picking up on those subtle subtexts... all the way up to seeing if you actually want the same things in life.
I’m just saying, it feels totally overrated to me. When I look back at other Marvel mid-credit or post-credit scenes, they were usually actually funny or left you hanging with some cool mystery. Usually, those teasers for what's coming next in the sequels were way more subtle... ☕
And honestly, you have to realize I’ve been waiting for them to bring in Carnage since way back during Raimi's Spider-Man movies. Now that it's finally happening, I can't help but feel a little bummed out that it's going down like this 😬
That’s really the issue with these standalone movies. It feels like it should be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but we all know how messy those rights issues can get...
Venom starts out as the bad guy, but he eventually turns into more of a hero. And then you have Carnage, who is basically just a byproduct of Venom, born right there in a prison cell.
But there's this one thing that just feels kind of silly to me. So, these symbiotes all have their own specific names—Venom, Riot, and all that. Then, in the mid-credits scene, they tease what's coming next by having Cletus say that once he gets out, there'll be Carnage... even though he probably doesn't even know these symbiotes exist yet! I get it, it's great for the movie's marketing, so it works, but at the same time, it's such a cliché. 😬
And hey, we’ve got Woody Harrelson back for the sequel, which is honestly enough to get me to buy a ticket. I mean, I’m super curious to see how they pull this one off... even though I already know I'll probably have a hundred different complaints about it ☕
Look, I'm not saying it's garbage—there are definitely some fun bits in there—but compared to how Venom is portrayed in the comics or even his previous appearances in Spider-Man movies, the story just doesn't hit that satisfying sweet spot.
The cast is actually top-tier, but it feels like they were rushed into these roles at the last second, so they couldn't really bring much creative flair to the table. For about half the movie, most of them feel totally unconvincing. Especially Michelle Williams... I mean, she’s incredible in everything I’ve seen her in, but here? It might not even be her fault; the script just writes scenes that feel like they were slapped together without any thought. And then there's the whole Hardy casting situation. Don't get me wrong, Hardy is great, but given his typical macho vibe, he just didn't click for me as this confused, weak guy (though, okay, I did laugh at a few of the goofy moments, mostly when he was interacting with Venom)...
And don't even get me started on the plot holes. The whole villain subplot is basically just a CGI spectacle, and honestly, not in a good way. The build-up to the climax felt rushed, like they just took a basic idea and cranked it up to eleven without any actual pacing.
Plus, the way Venom actually comes to be just didn't sit right with me. Everything feels so black-and-white character-wise, paired with those cringey dialogues and jokes that are clearly aimed at kids (you know, that younger demographic the marketing targets), but it's nowhere near the level of humor you usually expect from Marvel movies.
The one bright spot is that they're finally bringing in Carnage, which I feel is long overdue. Isn't the whole Avengers crew practically geared up for him anyway? My only gripe is that they're introducing him into a story that's being handled like this. This could have been something truly legendary in the MCU, but instead, they kind of let it down. Still, I guess my final takeaway isn't terrible. It's just a shame, because it could have been amazing...
Watching *Women in Revolt* is honestly such a vibe. The themes all bleed into one another, but that surrealist backdrop is just perfect for this kind of story.
Now, *Satyricon*... that was a slightly less pleasant ride. In my opinion, it’s just way too over the top. At least for me... 😬 The only part that really grabbed me was the depiction of decadence in Rome, which is a theme he explores in plenty of his other movies anyway. Some parts of the film felt a bit dull, while others were just straight-up "too much."
Just my two cents! 🙂 I don't think I have anything else lined up from Fellini left to watch.
Dolac Vita is solid. Even if it drags in certain spots, the core idea hits home. You’ve got this tabloid journalist wandering through a hollow, high-glamour Rome, surrounded by all that heavy symbolism... it really leaves an impression, especially with those iconic shots and how the whole thing is structured. And man, that soundtrack? Totally spot on.
I actually vibed with Proba Orchestra a lot more. The way it’s shot reminds me so much of those Bunuelian films from that era. Honestly, it might even be my favorite Fellini flick. For now, at least! I still have so much more to discover...🙂
Anyone else here obsessed with post-rock, post-metal, or sludge? I’m talking those heavy, atmospheric vibes... Rosetta is hitting up The Fillmore on November 17th! Tickets are available $30, or you can grab them at the door for $110.
Hey there! I've actually been thinking about something pretty similar lately. I'm looking to toss another 4 gigs of RAM into my rig—maybe two 2GB sticks to keep things balanced—and it's gotta be DDR3. I've already got all the other technical specs jotted down in my notes... but honestly, the big question is: where's the best spot to actually pull the trigger? I’d much rather grab it from an official retailer like Best Buy or something reliable, though I haven't totally ruled out hunting through some random local marketplace listings... any tips on where to shop safely?
I mean, nothing seems too crazy on my end. Honestly, I actually think my testosterone might be running a bit high. I was chatting with this med student the other day and he actually gave me a little bit of a scare when he said: Look, sure, hormone levels fluctuate all the time. But if one of them is spiked, you have to ask yourself... WHY is it high? 🤔
Because, obviously, any weird reading could be a red flag for some underlying health issue—it might just be a symptom of something else. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not a hypochondriac and I don't feel like anything is wrong, but if there's a way to get a quick checkup for free just to stay on top of things, why wouldn't I 😬
So, how exactly do you go about checking your testosterone levels? Like, where do you even start? I’m assuming it’s just through standard blood work, right? Just wondering if anyone here has actually gone to a doctor and requested a referral specifically for that, or if there's some other way to get it done... 😬
I think the concept here is pretty solid! I’ve always been a huge fan of Stone's takes on the American political machine—he really knows how to call it out, though he doesn't exactly pull any punches or surprise us with his perspective... you know how he is! The casting? Absolutely spot on. But honestly, my biggest gripe this time around is the script. It felt a little too diluted for my taste. I wish they had just stuck to a few core themes instead of trying to cover everything under the sun... it ended up feeling a bit scattered in places, which definitely killed the momentum. Because of that, it didn't quite reach greatness for me, just a decent enough watch.
