silentharbor88 said:I can't wait for Gnn-ov's take. Conan the Barbarian is honestly one of the most badass movies I've ever seen. Plus, it's just top-tier.

...🙂

...same here...since he lost his Conan edge today, I feel like his review could be 🙏 spot on in every way. I've watched it about ten times already, so maybe his post will make me feel like I'm seeing it for the first time again 😁

Does that mean I actually have a shot with Audrey Hepburn? What do you guys think? 😁

..man, you were basically made for her...😁

...honestly one of the happiest movies I've ever seen... even if a literal bomb went off right next to me after watching it, nothing could touch the vibe I was feeling...👍

Ed Wood said:I just hope he’s mostly listing the absolute worst movies out there and telling us what to skip.

You guys just don't get how brilliant these movies actually are. They’re really about growing up—all the struggles, the setbacks, and the messiness that today's youth deal with. It's about first loves, those first kisses, finding friends you'll keep for life, and even the stuff Kozz was talking about in his post:
Kozz said:Now that they're finally adults, you're free to get handsy while watching their movies. Feel like it?
You aren't going to end up in jail. 😁

Yeah, exactly—they even dive into those first sexual experiences, whether you're figuring things out solo or with someone else. These movies really shape generations of kids. They’re woven together with this deep belief in yourself, your country, parental love, and most importantly, your friends—whether they're people or animals. It's just a pure ode to youth.

Nicole Baker said:I just don't get why everything is being dubbed lately. Sure, it makes things easier for kids who can't read yet, but couldn't they at least show the original audio once in a while? 🙄

...that's why I don't bother watching stuff like that in theaters. I just wait for the DVD so I can watch the original version. If I'm feeling really adventurous, maybe I'll catch the American dub version...
Garfield in Movies ·
...honestly... I’m skipping this one at the theater... heard a few radio spots and man, having Philip Seymour Hoffman voicing Garfield is just wrong 👎 ...BRING BACK DUDEK!!!111one...

I still remember how much of a shock it was seeing Steve Buscemi pop up in Ghost World. I mean, sure, I knew he usually plays losers and outcasts, but when he walked into that dive bar looking all hunched over in a baggy sweater... 😲

...at least the guy went and hit on an eighteen-year-old. 😁

...what would you give to be in his shoes...😁

...maybe you'd even give up being a moderator... 😛

...Boško Buha...and then there's that salt at the end 🙂 🙂 ....he finally gets his salt, only to be betrayed and killed by those local traitors...😢
HIV transmission via blood transfusion in Health ·
...just heard on the news that it actually happened here too—two patients ended up catching HIV through a blood transfusion. You'll probably see all the details in the papers later this week
. It’s just another case eating away at the trust people already have in our healthcare system.
driftingpilot54 said:Honestly, this is exactly why I started doing movie reviews—because I get the chance to help out. You could call me a sympathetic jerk, but I think that since times are tough for so many people right now, if they're going to scrape together whatever little cash they have left for entertainment, they should at least spend it on something actually good.
That's my goal, and I hope most people feel the same way.

...I get that, but let's be real: most people are still gonna pick "Beauty and the Beast" by Segal over something like "Jerusalem"... That's just life. I have clients—architects, professors, intellectuals—who technically should prefer something like "Dogville," but they'll grab a Segal flick instead if you give them a quick, logical reason: "I just want to shut my brain off and relax for ninety minutes."
At the end of the day, Jackie Chan is always going to be a bigger hit at the local video store than, I don't know, a Coen brothers movie.
driftingpilot54 said:Hey, neonfalcon6.
When I talk about calling certain movies "hits," I’m not talking about actual box office numbers. It's just a gimmick rental shops use. They grab a new release and slap a "hit" label on it just to jack up the rental price. You know what I mean? $4.00 Hey. $5.00 Distributors aren't any better, honestly. They can be pretty sneaky about it. I was just thinking how the plot summary on the back of the box rarely tells you what the movie is actually about.

It’s the same old story... I could make a top ten list for my local Blockbuster where 90% of it is actual data, but then I throw in a few personal favorites in that last 10% and suddenly those rental numbers skyrocket. It works the same way with a movie like *Beauty and the Beast*—if we get three or four copies in stock, people immediately assume it’s some massive blockbuster or a masterpiece and start renting it like crazy. At the end of the day, distributors can manufacture a hit, but honestly? So can the video store owners.
So, on that Blitz or Duplicata post, they list like five movies that are supposedly "blockbuster tier"—massive hits, at least—but I honestly haven't heard much about three of them until now. 👎
...if I remember right, they've had Mulan on the shelves at Blockbuster for ages...😕 ...

...BTW..driftingpilot54, you gotta be kidding me with that review of vanishing II: Temptation...seriously, there's less propaganda in the Bible than in that movie...
Top Gun in Movies ·
...I've seen it—and I'm not even kidding—at least a hundred times. It's a total blast, but man, do I love it....😁
