I need some help with the LOOKUP function.

try using this formula: =LOOKUP(B5,Sheet2!A1:A241,Sheet2!B1:B241)
By the way, the Lookup function actually uses two types of arguments

Can you send over an example file?
here's my file. Check out the data range (Sheet2)

Basically, the Lookup function takes two main arguments

can you send over an example file?
here's my file. Pay close attention to the data range base (Sheet2)

fixed the issue using
Code:
=LOOKUP(B5,{"200-240";"250-290";"350-390";"400-440"},{"1,152";"1,414";"1,937";"2,199"}))

To clarify my title: I am currently working as a scheduler. 🙂 It concerns the so-called 12/24 to 12/48 shift rotation.
Finally, I add the summation formula to calculate the total hours. Everything is functioning correctly.
If you want to enter the word "Go" and have Excel recognize it as the value 8 so it can be used in hourly calculations, there is a way to handle that. You should look into using a custom lookup table or a specific formula to convert those text entries into numerical values.
I have attached some images to make this easier to understand.

Now, how can I make it so that when I type a word like "Go" (vacation) instead of a number, Excel actually recognizes that word as the value 8 (eight hours) and includes it in the hourly sum?

Maybe this will help you : I usually work with a dummy cell (A1), and since you have a larger dataset, you can just apply the same logic by changing the cell reference... You can set up a formula like =if(A1="go";8;A1). The only downside to this approach is that you have to tuck the formula away somewhere next to your table or on a new Sheet2, sum those results there, and then plug that final number into your main table (specifically where you mentioned: ''And finally, I’m adding a formula to sum everything up for the total hours''). Otherwise, here is what the formula does: if the specified cell (A1) contains the word ''go'', Excel spits out the number 8; if that word isn't there, it just keeps whatever was entered (like 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 hours, or whatever number you need).
Note: The " symbol is just standard quotation marks from your keyboard using shift+2.

Understood. Thank you for the prompt response. I will proceed using that method.

How can I make Excel recognize when I type something like "Go" (for vacation time) as the value 8 (eight hours) instead of just text, so it actually works in my hourly tracker?

Look, you might be able to fix this using a formula like =COUNTIF(C9:AG9,"Go")*8. Basically, the formula counts every instance where the word "Go" shows up and then just multiplies that count by 8. Simple enough, right?

The following formula should work: =COUNTIF(C9:AG9,"Go")*8. This formula counts every instance of the word "Go" and multiplies that count by 8.

Thank you everyone. This is the best solution.

urbanbison8 said:So how do I get Excel to actually recognize "Go" (annual leave) as the value 8 when I type it in my timesheet? I need it to actually count as 8 hours so the math works.

Look, work hours mixed with specific labels—check this link, plus I attached a screenshot. Honestly, just using formulas makes life way 😉
easier.

I need some advice on picking up an Office suite for my business.

I’m looking for Microsoft Office for two computers at the office. I know there are probably a ton of different ways to go about this, but honestly, I just need Word and Excel—that's pretty much it. Just the basics. I want to keep things as cheap as possible, so what are my actual options here? What would you guys recommend? Should I be looking at a one-time purchase or just sticking with those annual subscriptions? And which vendor should I trust to buy from? Give me your best shots.

Microsoft Office Home and Business 2010: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook
It's the retail version, so you get the actual box and the disc. No dealing with any of that PKC nonsense. You get licenses for two machines—one desktop and one laptop—but apparently, you can't run it on two desktops at once. At least, that's how they explain it over at Microsoft USA.
Price: roughly $215
The downside? It's all in American.
Place: For example, right here

Hey there!

I need some help with Excel.

How do I get Excel to automatically calculate dates?

For example:

If I type in 4/26/2012 and then pick an option from a dropdown menu (like a=20 days, b=40 days, or c=70 days), how can I make it automatically spit out the date that is 40 days after 4/26/2012, while accounting for holidays, Saturdays, and Sundays in that count?

Thanks!

Look, if this helps you out at all:

In cell A1, just type in your date. In B1, put the number 40, and then in C1, toss in this formula: =A1+B1.

(Just a heads-up: make sure you format both A1 and C1 as a Date—you know, like 03/14/2012).

Basically, C1 will spit out a date that's exactly 40 days ahead of whatever you typed into A1.

Hey there!
First off, sorry if I'm repeating something—I scoured the first 23 pages and didn't see anything, and honestly, I just didn't have the energy to dig any deeper, but this is pretty important to me...

So, here's the deal... I've got a 64-bit version of Windows 7 running on my laptop along with Microsoft Word 2010. Since I've started getting serious about my writing, I really need an American spell check—it's just way easier than catching typos manually when I'm in the zone, and let's be real, re-reading hundreds of pages from scratch is a total nightmare! Does anyone know where I can find or download that spell check? I checked the Microsoft Office site and they have tons of different languages listed, but I couldn't find American anywhere... maybe I'm just totally overwhelmed or my "Google skills" are failing me miserably, but I would seriously appreciate some help... thanks!!!

Oh, and extra points if there's a way to grab it for free... :P

Can someone please walk me through how I can take a single sheet of A4 paper and split it into four A6 pieces, and then
somehow get all four of those printed onto one single A4 page?

Thanks, appreciate it.

I would be most grateful.

In Microsoft Office 2007: 1. Page Layout -> Page setup -> Size -> A6
2. Microsoft Button -> Print -> Scale to paper size -> A4 -> Pages per sheet -> 4

Alright, look—I’ve got Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2010 running right now, but can I actually get Microsoft Office 2007 installed on top of it? If there's a way, how do I pull it off?

The 2010 version is 🤷
thanks 🙂

So you just uninstall Office 2010 and go back to installing Office 2007 instead... I mean, why wouldn't you?
Have you actually given that a shot yet?

I ran the 2007 installer, but it just hangs halfway through every single time. I've tried it a few times already.🤷
