Man, I love these types on forums—people who ask for help and then...
once they fix it themselves, they just ghost everyone. Like, "oh, nobody else needs this info."
Do these people seriously think they're the only ones who'll run into the same issue?div>

I gave it a whirl, but it's only converting one single page and just stalling on the rest... I have no idea why! The PDF is only 3.88 MB, so it shouldn't be too heavy to handle.

It definitely was! Is there any way to strip that protection off?

How do you actually make a chart in Microsoft Word 2010? I try to insert the graph I need, and then it opens up an Excel window for me to enter the data, but I honestly have no clue what I'm supposed to be typing in there...
Does anyone happen to have a good tutorial?

Hey everyone,
I was wondering if someone might be able to help me out with a specific formula I'm trying to put together:
Basically, I need to match the values in column A against those in column D, and whenever there's a hit, I want column B to pull in whatever text is sitting over in column E.
So, the idea is to have a formula in column B that looks at columns A and D, finds the match, and then grabs the corresponding info from E.
I've attached an image here to show you what I mean.

Thanks so much.

So why even bother with the Match function when you can just knock it out with VLOOKUP?

Well, I guess what I’m really asking is, how would the formula actually look for my specific situation?
I’ve been attempting to follow some of the examples on this site, but I can't quite seem to get it to work properly.
Thanks,

You really gotta post what you're trying to do here.
Select the range D2:E10 and give it a name called cities
In B2, type the formula =VLOOKUP(A2;cities;2;FALSE)

Kyle Johnson2 said:Well, I think you probably should have included your actual attempt right here in the thread.
Maybe try selecting the data range from D2 through E10 and give it a specific name called cities.
Then, in cell B2, just pop in the formula =VLOOKUP(A2, cities, 2, FALSE)
It’s just not working... I'm honestly not quite sure why. 😕
The way the formula works is that it looks at whatever is sitting in cell A3,
searches for an exact match within column D (which, in this specific scenario, would be cell D4), and then finally pulls the corresponding value from
column E (so, the text found in E5).
Thanks,

No idea why it’s acting up on your end, but the formula and filter work fine for me. Maybe sit in the chair a little longer and try again. 😉
No problem, peace.
BTW: Looking at your screenshot, set the named range to D3:E10 and put the formula in B3 =VLOOKUP(A3;cities;2;FALSE)

It’s not working because you didn't set up the formula name correctly in the Formulas > Name Manager tab.
So, here is what you do: just highlight the range D3:E10 with your mouse—just like Kyle Johnson2 already suggested—then head over to Formulas > Name Manager, hit NEW, and type in name: cities. In the refers to box, you'll see the range you just selected (though you can always manually expand it later if you need to). Now, just paste Kyle's formula into cell B3 and drag it down. It should run as smooth as a high-end Mercedes.
p.s. Man, it breaks my heart seeing people struggle like this. I guess I have a bit of a saintly streak in me (even if I'm nothing like Kyle Johnson2), though maybe there's a little mischief there too; (MATCH a 😂😂, I totally lost track, and now I see everything clearly))

I've run into a bit of a situation here..

Columns 1 through 5 are where I paste my data—specifically using Paste Values.
Columns 6 and 7 contain formulas that process those values from columns 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.
When the data is pasted into those first five columns, the formula in column 6 updates instantly with the right value.
But the formula in column 7 just sits there at zero. Why does one work while the other stays stuck?
Both formulas are technically correct, but it’s like the second one needs a manual "nudge" to actually trigger.
For instance, if I click into one of the cells—say, column 2—and re-enter the same number, the formula suddenly works. But obviously, that's not a viable workflow.
What am I missing?
The code:
This formula worked fine..
The code:
This one failed to calculate..

So, what exactly do you think that "10" is doing in your formula?
If your actual goal is to multiply 10 by whatever is sitting in cell B4, then you need to stop overcomplicating it and just try entering
10*B4 (instead of using 10;B4

Kyle Johnson2 said:I suppose I can't say for certain why it isn't working on your end, though everything seems to be functioning perfectly fine with the formula and the filter over here. Perhaps you just need to spend a little more time at your desk getting used to it. 😉
No worries at all, take care.
By the way, looking at that screenshot of yours, try setting the named range to cover D3 through E10, and then set the formula in B3 to =VLOOKUP(A3;gradovi;2;FALSE)
It actually worked... thanks!
Anyway, Benjamin Wilson7, I'm glad I could brighten your day a bit.🙂
