Pike was cutting it less tight, but take a look at this photo—pay close attention to the BMW (Nick Heidfeld), who cuts the chicane with all four wheels before Lewis Hamilton even gets there. 🤣
Also, one should note how many cars Lewis Hamilton had positioned to his right and behind him; he simply couldn't have avoided the cut, because any other move—staying straight, swerving right, or braking hard—would have resulted in damage to his own car and likely at least one other, if not more. Therefore, Lewis Hamilton’s maneuver was entirely justified, just as Nick Heidfeld's would have been, had he not collided with Vettel by cutting the chicane.
But I suppose the important thing is that Lewis Hamilton is nothing but a thorn in your side 🤣
It seems unlikely that you're viewing him as a threat to your favorite in the fight for this year's title based solely on this single win, isn't it?
Just look at the line Lewis Hamilton takes entering the chicane... it would have been ideal if he had stayed strictly on the track, yet he still would have made it through—those drivers behind him aren't blind, nor are they stupid. But no matter, let's just cut the corner and pretend it doesn't matter... 🙄
And in fairness, Nick Heidfeld did go over it, though it's clear he didn't actually gain an advantage from doing so.
YES, Lewis Hamilton is a thorn in my side... though I don't consider him a threat right now; I've always supported the chemistry of the team, following him since his Sauber days—and for a brief period, I followed Button back when Honda was actually producing something worthwhile.
What I mean is, the man is obnoxious to the point of physical discomfort—from that previously mentioned nervous waving at other drivers, to the whining in front of the cameras, down to signing that McLaren contract behind Flavio Briatore's back. It was disgraceful.
I truly cannot fathom what went wrong for him during his time at Ford—a two-time world champion...
And lo and behold, he went right back to Flavio, tail between his legs.
And again... YES, Lewis Hamilton is a thorn in my side.
