Donna Martinez95 said:Laura Bailey3, why not just grab a plain brown box from a local shop and tape it up securely? Or even an old shoebox wrapped in some basic gift wrap from a drugstore would work perfectly fine. Just send it off as a standard package headed to $1.75, and you should find that the USPS will only charge you about $5.00 πŸ™‚

Thanks so much, 😍

I’ll be sending my shoes in a sturdy shipping box from the post office. It costs a little more, but it’s much tougher than those flimsy boxes you find at a local convenience store.
As for other items, a standard cardboard box should do just fine.

Can anyone tell me if they know, like, how much shipping would end up costing me?πŸ˜•

Is it just me, or did shipping rates seriously spike overnight? πŸ€”

You think I didn't notice? Please. How could I miss that?

So, I actually ended up paying for a registered package the other day, weighing in at about 616 grams $7.00 πŸ˜•

Ugh, I just realized I left out half my message🀷... I was actually trying to figure out how much shipping would cost if a package were coming in from a Banjaluka-based areaπŸ˜•if anyone happens to know

Yeah, when you opt for certified mail, the price scales right along with the weight, so don't act surprised when the bill hits πŸ™‚. You probably sent it off as a certified letter.
Your best bet is to just send it as a small parcel under 11 pounds $33, which keeps your cost at $5.00. If you stick with certified mail for something under 9 ounces, you're looking at paying $5.00 instead.πŸ™‚

I’m honestly feeling a bit lost in this sea of shipping information... I need to send off a jersey, and a friend asked if I could just send it via standard mail in a padded envelope. Can I just take one of those larger bubble mailers, tuck the shirt inside, seal it up, and then head down to the USPS to ask them to process it as regular mail? If I do that, will it cost roughly $5.00? This is my first time actually shipping anything, and I have absolutely no clue how the process works. I’d rather ask πŸ™‚
beforehand than get absolutely fleeced by the clerks at the counter like some other people have.

If you just go with the standard option, you're looking at roughly 5-$3.25 πŸ™‚

Honestly, just make sure you specify that you want the basic version and you'll be all set. πŸ™‚

Just make it clear that you want something standard, and leave it at that. πŸ™‚

I really appreciate the help! I was just wondering, thoughβ€”would there be any issues if I specifically requested to send my mail via standard service? I’m mostly concerned about whether the clerks at the post office might push back or give me some kind of hard time, claiming that certain items aren't eligible for standard shipping or something along those lines.

Nah, they don't really have a say in the matter here. πŸ™‚ You can send things however you want, but honestly, it's probably not your smartest move for a dozen different reasons...

Look, vividhawk65, I genuinely can't tellβ€”are you the one receiving the package or the one shipping it out?

I realize it might be a bit risky... but the lady I was sending this to was insistent, so here goes nothing. Now, I can only hope it actually arrives in one piece and looks the way it’s supposed to! πŸ™‚

If I recall correctly, a package coming from the USA or other nearby countries will run you $31 (assuming it stays under 5 lbs; every extra pound adds about $2.75)...I've included the price list below

http://www.usps.com/shipping/international (just select the international shipping option)

I don't know, vividhawk65, are you actually receiving or sending the package?

Why wouldn't it be safe? The worst-case scenario is just some heavy box crushing the envelope, and since nothing in there is fragile, it shouldn't matter, right?🀷

Aside from the fact that I might get it crushedπŸ™„, you say nothing is breakable, but I could also lose itβ€”God forbid...😠
Well, then you won't have any proof you actually sent it...β˜•
It costs a few extra bucks for certified mail, but at least you get a receipt. You can wave that paper in the face of the USPS if they lose it... πŸ™

Well, if you go that route, you won't have any actual proof that you ever sent it...β˜•
It’s worth spending a few extra bucks to get it done right; at least you get a receipt, which gives you some leverage to wave in front of the clerk at the Post Office if things go sideways... πŸ™

If you want a paper trail, you need that receipt they give you at the USPS counter... For instance, I sent a shirt via standard mail just yesterday and it already arrived today... everything went smoothly... and right next to me, there was a little slip clearly stating $2.25 postage paid!!!

Yeah, because God forbid you’d actually find a practical reason to use them.

The girls have had high-value packages vanish into thin air before, and the company only bothers issuing a claim if you send it via certified mail or as a formal package. If you just send a standard shipment and it goes missing, you’re completely out of luck; a regular receipt won't mean a damn thing to them.
On top of that, my mail carrier tends to cram even the largest standard parcels into a tiny little slot, so I end up having to practically wrestle them out. Plus, the girls have dealt with those "nosy" neighbors who can't keep their hands off other people's mail. With certified mail or direct delivery, it either lands right at my door or waits for me at the post office. Because there's an actual paper trail, they actually take some responsibility; if something disappears, they keep better records to prevent it because they know they'll be the ones footing the bill to make it right.
