I mean, I haven't really heard anything yet, except for people saying nothing but good things about Inkospor.

So, I finally pulled the trigger and ordered some Dymatize Super Shake!
I’ve never actually messed with this brand before—honestly, I just got completely fed up with all that Multipower garbage—so I wanted to see if anyone here has actually tried them yet. Specifically, has anyone given this particular shake a go?

Look, Dymatize is a solid, high-quality brand.

I was planning on hitting the gym yesterday, but it turned out to be closed—so I decided to just knock out a few sets at home instead. I followed some advice from a buddy of mine over at State University, mixed in a few old favorites, and added some stuff I picked up from Men's Health. The problem? I was completely out of glucose, which meant I couldn't even get my protein in. I’m currently out in rural California, and the local CVS stores are doing inventory, so they're basically off-limits all week. Since I have nothing to do this week besides studying and training, I need some advice. Besides raisins, what else can I use as a quick carb source to spike my insulin?
I'm trying to put on some mass here, and honestly, it feels a bit pointless to grind through a workout if I can't follow it up with a solid shake.

I did some stuff a buddy from college suggested, plus some old favorites from Men's Health, but man, I totally ran out of glucose, so I couldn't even do my protein shake. Right now I'm hanging out in Napa, and the two CVS locations around here are doing inventory, so they're basically closed all week... which sucks because I have nothing to do except study and train. Does anyone have recommendations for quick carbs besides raisins? Like, what else can I use for fast carbs? I'm really trying to bulk up, and it feels kind of pointless to lift if I can't get a shake in right after the workout.

I'd say just check the nutrition labels for stuff with a high glycemic index. Just pick whatever works best for you.
Maybe some cornflakes—either the frosted ones or just regular—would be your easiest bet.

Man, this whole topic just sparked an idea for an even better workaround.
It’s actually happened to me a few times where I totally ran out of glucose. I remember there was that one big shortage last year, too.
The thing is, my brain just wasn't firing on all cylinders in the morning without it. 😁

If you ever find yourself stuck without any pure glucose, honestly, the best move is just to grab some juice—like any of those fruit juices, maybe a Cappy, a Juicy, a Fis, or whatever else you can find at the store.

About 90% of those drinks have over 10g of pure glucose syrup per 100mL. Plus, you can always just double-check the nutrition label to see the exact amount.
Just grab something like that and you should be good to go.

So, I just mixed it with some protein and called it a day—simple as that. Honestly, sounds good to me. Thanks a ton for the help.

Hey guys, can I get some advice here on how much grape sugar I should be mixing into my protein shake?

I'm thinking about doing 30 grams of protein powder in about a cup of milk + ???? amount of grape sugar?

Thanks!

Lawrence Phillips said:Hey, can I ask here how much grape sugar I should mix into my protein shake for a post-workout boost?

So, like, 30 grams of protein powder in about 8 ounces of milk plus... how many grams of grape sugar? I guess?

Thanks!

Well, honestly, you see all kinds of people—some folks only take about 50 or 60g, while others go as high as 120g.
It really just depends on whether you're trying to bulk up or if you're cutting down for definition.
Most people usually just stick to water for their post-workout shake.

If I had to guess, I'd say aim closer to that higher end; maybe around 100g would be just right for you.

Wait, so you're saying 100ish grams of sugar for every 30g of protein powder? Isn't that, like, a massive amount?🤷

Lawrence Phillips said:Wait, so you're telling me there's like a hundred grams of sugar in just a 30g serving of protein powder? Isn't that a bit much?🤷

Well, if you think that's too much, maybe just go for 40g of protein instead. 😁

Honestly, 100g of carbs isn't even that crazy high. I mean, really.
That's basically just a large glass of fruit juice.

That's basically just a liter of juice or something.

Fair point...

Well, I guess I'll give it a shot that way then.

Thanks!👍

So, what’s this "rule" about doubling the amount of glucose relative to your protein intake? Honestly, even a 1:1 ratio feels like way too much for me—I absolutely can't stand overly sweet stuff🙂 though I'll make an exception for chocolate🙂

I’ve been using MuscleTech protein, but it’s been quite a while... I actually bought them back in June 2008. I used them for about a month, having a serving every couple of days, but then I stopped training altogether. Since then, they've just been sitting in their plastic tub. Is there any chance they've gone bad by now? I can't seem to find an expiration date anywhere.

I've had them a few times before and didn't experience any side effects. 😁 I mix them with water during my workouts. As gross as that sounds, it's all a sacrifice for a better physique.

What kind of side effects would you even be looking for?😕

If you can't find an expiration date, it has to be written somewhere, but honestly, they probably don't even have one listed.

I’m right there with you, I can't stand that taste either.
Just mixing plain protein with water is honestly my absolute favorite compared to all that stuff with 100g of glucose. 😁
But hey, I guess it is what it is.

I just grab the one without the extra glucose and eat some Milka instead.😁

Dennis Lewis6 said:I mean, honestly? I just go with the glucose-free version and grab a Milka bar on the side. It’s kind of my thing, I guess!😁

I mean, let's be real—stuff like Milka and all those other sugary treats? They are honestly loaded with fat. Like, seriously loaded. I guess it's just one of those things you have to watch out for if you're trying to stay on track, you know? Maybe it's worth keeping an eye on if you're snacking!

So, after you wrap up a workout, you’re probably just craving something super straightforward, right? Like, I'm talking simple carbs—just some easy UH—and some basic, uncomplicated protein to get things moving. Nothing fancy, just the essentials!
