Not much. Honestly, it’s probably more useful for my own peace of mind than anything else.

And people told me it was for bulking... yeah, right. Total waste of time if you're trying to pack on mass.

Yeah, you'll definitely gain weight, but it’s just going to be fat.

So what are you guys actually recommending for mass? Are those Mega Mass ones any good?

That’s essentially just a gainer anyway. Honestly, if I were you, I'd just grab some high-quality, pure Whey and some Glucose.

Look, I'm not saying gainers are some kind of miracle worker, but they aren't exactly trash either...

A ton of pro athletes actually swear by them—either as a quick energy boost right before hitting the gym or as a solid meal replacement once they're done with their sets.

But wait, isn't that basically the same thing as mixing whey and glucose?

It's way easier on the wallet if you just DIY a combo of whey + glucose.
You'll definitely save some cash that way! 🤷

and honestly, I haven't the slightest clue what the prices are looking like these days

all I know for sure is that plenty of strongmen tend to slam down some gainers right before they hit the gym

but hey, fair enough... those guys need to pack in way more calories just to stay in their weight class, so I guess it makes sense for them

Honestly, it’s probably much cheaper to just DIY a combo of Whey and Glucose on your own.
It ends up being way more budget-friendly if you go with 🤷

Not really, though, because there's hardly any actual Whey in there and way too much sugar. If you take a look at the nutritional breakdown on this link that guy posted...

Are you saying they aren't really that different?

Actually, you're right. I just went over the label myself.
If you ask me, it's way better to just grab some plain Whey and some Glucose.
A half-kilo bag of Glucose only runs you about $3.75.

I need some assistance and a few solid recommendations...
I'm 17 years old (156 lbs, 6'1") and just started hitting the gym. I've been at it for two weeks. I did some research on proteins and picked up some Weider "Protein 80 Plus" http://www.building-body.com/shop/pr...0_plus_-_doza/. The recommendation was to use this immediately following training.

Now... I've been reading through the forum, and from what I can gather, everyone seems to be taking glucose along with their protein...

First, I want to know if I should also be consuming glucose alongside the product I purchased ( http://www.building-body.com/shop/pr...0_plus_-_doza/ ), or if there is perhaps something else I should be using instead...

Second... How many grams of protein should I take post-workout, how much milk should I use, and how many grams of glucose are required (if glucose is even necessary).

Third... I train about five times a week. Can I take protein on my rest days? If so, when should I take it and in what quantity.

And fourth... Is this product I bought actually any good, or would you recommend something else?

I’ve got a question for the group... how does Optimum Nutrition stack up as a brand? And has anyone actually tried their Pro 90? I noticed it’s packed with way more vitamins and minerals than the Dymatize stuff I'm currently using, so I’ve been thinking about making the switch. Also—how's the flavor profile for this brand? Is it actually drinkable? 😉

I'm 17 years old (about 156 lbs, 6'1") and I just started hitting the gym. I've only been at it for two weeks. I did a bit of digging regarding proteins and ended up grabbing some "Protein 80 Plus" from Weider http://www.building-body.com/shop/pr...0_plus_-_doza/. People told me this is the best thing to take right after a workout.

So... I was reading through the forums and from what I can gather, everyone seems to be taking glucose along with their protein...

First off, I'm wondering if I should be consuming glucose too with this specific product I bought ( http://www.building-body.com/shop/pr...0_plus_-_doza/ ), or maybe something else instead...

Second... how many grams of protein should I be taking post-workout, how many ounces of milk, and how many grams of glucose (if I even need it).

Yeah, definitely the glucose. Maybe 100g of glucose and about 40g of protein.
Mix it with water after you train. During the day, you can totally do it with milk.

Third... I'm training about 5 days a week on average. I was wondering if I can take protein on my rest days too? And if so, when should I take it and how much?

Whenever you want, I guess. It just depends on your other meals.
Maybe around 30 grams.

And fourth... is this stuff I bought actually any good, or would you recommend something else...?

First of all, kudos to you for getting into training! You're doing a pretty good job gathering info and researching everything. And hey, it's helpful that you linked the products like that. 👍

For now, just go ahead and drink what you bought, even if it wasn't the absolute best choice.

A few tips—try using Whey protein for your post-workout shake. Skip the multi-component blends. The reason is that Whey digests way faster.

Honestly, skip Weider. For the same price (or maybe even less), you can get Inkospor, which is a step up in quality, and you'll actually get more protein per bag than you would with Weider.

The tubs are more expensive than the bags, though it's definitely better to keep your protein in something airtight. Maybe grab one tub and then just pour the bags into it later.

Don't forget that supplements are only one part of the puzzle. If you're looking to put on some serious weight, you're gonna have to pick up a spoon, a fork, and a knife.

They weren't being entirely honest with you because that isn't actually pure Whey; it's more of a blend of different protein sources, including casein, which digests incredibly slowly. Because of that, it functions much better as a meal replacement than as a post-workout shake. For now, just finish what you bought, but next time, stick to a classic Whey.

So, what should I be slamming before a workout to actually get some fuel in the tank?

Just take about half of whatever you're currently tossing into your Protein Weight Management.

Thanks a lot for the help!

Can you give me specific recommendations? Tell me exactly which Whey you consider the best and what you personally use. Also, let me know which Glucose I should get and where to pick it up.

And one more thing... I picked up some Whey for my PWM, but now I'm lost on what to grab for snacks during the day or right before bed. Any advice?

Before you hit the gym, just take about half of whatever you usually throw into your PWM. As for those energy drinks—you know, stuff like NO or Supercharge—I can't really help you there. Honestly, they don't do a damn thing for me, so I don't even bother with them.

During the day, you can easily just have some Whey (mix it with milk) or maybe something involving egg protein. For bedtime, you want casein since it digests slowly—keeps things steady while you sleep. But look, instead of blowing through your cash on expensive powders, if you want something before bed, just eat some low-fat cottage cheese. It’s much simpler.
