quick question xD
you guys have probably heard this a million times—please don't hit me with the "check five pages back" line—but I'm too lazy to dig through old threads so just help a guy out...
I need to pack on about 20 pounds of muscle. What kind of protein should I be hitting, and where can I actually find the good stuff? 🙂

You’ve probably heard questions like this a hundred times already—and look, please don't hit me with that "check five pages back" line—but I'm feeling too lazy to dig through the archives myself. If anyone's willing to help, I'd appreciate it...
I need to pack on about 20 pounds of muscle. What kind of protein am I looking at here? And where can I actually find some decent stuff? 🙂

I used to stick to One Whey protein—but there are plenty of other options out there, I guess. My routine was pretty basic: 3 scoops of protein, 2 scoops of glucose, and just enough water to make it drinkable. Honestly, looking back at where I was a year ago—I was skin and bones—I’m actually pretty happy with how things turned out.

You can grab protein at most gyms—I actually picked mine up at my local one—or just hit up a sports shop. As for the price... I guess it really just depends. I ended up getting some glucose at CVS.

At the end of the day, your diet matters more—I guess. You can probably find more info about that at your local gym.

First off, are you even aware that gaining 20 pounds of pure muscle takes years, assuming you ever actually pull it off?☕

Regarding supplements, follow this order: whey, glutamine, creatine... then eventually steroids.😳

Just search GNC on Google and call it a day.👍

Can someone break down what proteins actually are versus creatine? Like, what's the actual difference...

Protein is just for recovery and building tissue. Go online and find a proper bulking meal plan. www.bodybuilding.com Don't go rushing into buying supplements before you understand the basics. Read up first.

So, here’s what I’m curious about regarding protein intake—a buddy of mine over in Canada handed me some vanilla whey powder... he suggested I mix two big scoops with milk every time I finish a solid workout. Is that actually the right way to do it, or should I be looking at a different routine? For context, I'm about 143 lbs at 5'7"... nothing much going on in terms of body fat.

I’m curious—is it actually possible to hit the gym and get serious about bodybuilding without relying on protein supplements? Can you still see real muscle growth? To be perfectly blunt, I don’t have the cash to waste on that overpriced junk, and frankly, I have zero interest in wasting my time on supplements anyway.
I plan on eating a massive variety of whole foods—though, if I’m being honest, I'll be leaning heavily on cottage cheese and canned tuna, since those are easy enough to grab in bulk whenever I need them.

Of course. In fact, it's better.👍

Thanks for the response!
Someone tells me that eating tuna too often is a bad idea—is there actually any weight to that argument, or is it just some playground myth designed to scare people off?

Could that cause weight gain?

It's possible.

A friend of mine looks a bit bloated.

And I was being quite honest with him...

I mentioned he actually looked better before.

He hasn't quite forgiven me yet.

The absolute worst are those bloated egoists who honestly believe they’re tough just because they’ve got some air in them 🙄

Someone told me eating tuna too often isn't great. Is there any truth to that, or is it just nonsense?

LI-LA tuna has higher mercury levels than some other foods... but in big cities, you barely leave the house anymore, so who cares about mercury.👍

Honestly, you’re better off just picking up some chicken at the grocery store.

I guess I don't really get that obsession with looking puffed up just to seem tough?

What on earth?

Maybe it's just some deep-seated insecurity from childhood or something?

Anyway, yeah.

I’d probably suggest the whole group just cut back on those protein supplements.

🙄🙄🙄

I honestly can't stand people who are all puffed up with muscle but have zero actual strength or stamina underneath it all.
That’s why I have so much respect for those leaner guys—like the breakdancers you see out on the street—where you can actually see every single vein and muscle fiber working under the skin.

Most of these gym rats are just chasing a temporary high, driven by nothing more than a desperate urge to impress some girl or look tough for an audience.
