Genetics.

So, this week I bumped my training up to four days a week plus three cardio sessions. I actually toyed with the idea of hitting the junk food hard, but honestly, Iโ€™d rather just graze on carbs throughout the dayโ€”even right before bed if I had a heavy lifting session.
Most of my fuel comes from whole grain bread while I'm at work paired with chicken or turkey deli meat; I usually toss in about five or six ounces of salami per meal if I'm going the turkey route.

The problem is, the junk always seems to settle right on my gut, even though my weight stays pretty steady.

Man, I wish I had that problem. For me, nothing sticksโ€”no fat, and my muscle gains are moving at a snail's pace. Without any "junk" in my diet, I stay shredded.๐Ÿคฃ

Lately, I've swapped out the turkey for bologna, and I haven't touched vegan substitutes in forever. Instead, I just go for hard cheese.

Try eating some carbs during every single meal, just in small doses.
Even in your last meal if youโ€™ve been super active throughout the day.

It's all about experimenting, really. If you're hitting the weights at least three times a week and tossing in maybe three cardio sessions, it's going to be pretty tough for you to actually put on weight.
I'm not exactly sure what your current routine looks like, but my advice is don't go overboard by cramming all your carbs into one sitting; instead, spread them out across your meals in smaller amounts.

Just make sure you aren't pairing them up with heavy fats, obviously.

Linda Martinez60, I eat my eggs wholeโ€”no tossing the yolks for me. ๐Ÿ˜

When I'm on a bulking phase, I usually smash through about five whole eggs for breakfast.
Once I switch to cutting, Iโ€™ll toss out two or three yolks and maybe throw in an extra egg white or two.
(Unless I'm dealing with those Omega-3 enriched ones like I am right nowโ€”those aren't going anywhere ๐Ÿ˜.)

I don't know your exact routine, but don't just go overboard with a massive carb load all at once. Spread them out through your meals insteadโ€”think smaller portions more frequently.

Just don't go mixing them up with heavy fats, obviously.

I hit the weights four times a week, no cardio.
Uh, I eat carbs at every meal. I make sure to get protein three times a day specifically to ensure those meals are loaded with it, though I still pick up protein in my other meals too, just not intentionally. Like, I'll grab a fruit yogurt that's got maybe 3g of protein and stuff...

So, how do you guys usually tackle an egg? Are we talking raw, hard-boiled, sunny-side up, or maybe just a classic scramble?
Whatโ€™s actually the best way to do it, in your opinion?

Stick to cooked eggs. You really don't want to be messing around with raw onesโ€”it's just not worth the risk of picking up some nasty bug.

Man, if only you knew how many times I've downed raw ones, old school Rocky style. ๐Ÿ˜

stormylynx96 said:Well, I have certainly indulged in raw protein quite a few times, much like how Rocky might approach his training. ๐Ÿ˜

It isn't just a bad investment because of the potential health risks; itโ€™s also incredibly difficult to digest. You end up looking at about a 50% drop in protein absorption, which essentially means you would need to consume twice the amount just to hit your target levels.

Man, seriously? I was honestly convinced that was the most efficient way to get protein into your system.

Itโ€™s a no-brainer: boiled eggs are the way to go. Forget just the health stuffโ€”cooking them denatures the proteins, basically breaking those long chains down into smaller pieces so your body can actually digest and process them way easier.

Can someone hook me up with some protein recommendations for building muscle? Iโ€™ve been grinding at home and I'm looking to finally bulk up a bit...
Also, can anyone tell me if this stuff is actually any good:
PROTEIN 95 / 500 g / bag / 16 servings | $14.00 | 95% 4-component protein blend, vitamins and minerals, 1% fat, 0.5% carbs / protein meal, unflavored
Thanks!

Which one of these two is better..?

(I don't know all that much about this stuffโ€”I'm pretty cluelessโ€”but I could really use some outside opinions..)
Thanks a ton!

Go do a little digging online about the differences between Whey, casein, Mass Gainer, and all those other supplements. These two things aren't even in the same league, so you should probably figure that out first.

And whatโ€™s the point if he just grabs it now? Itโ€™s obvious he has no clue. Heโ€™d be better off actually learning how this stuff works first, rather than just picking it up and hoping for some miracle.

Thanks a million!

That is precisely why I kept my previous response so concise and direct...๐Ÿ™„
Based on the options he mentioned, his first choice is significantly better.

Finally, someone said it. Everything else is just selling snake oil. ๐Ÿ‘
L-carnitine does basically nothing for fat metabolism... it's negligible, especially if your diet is trash.
Thereโ€™s no magic pill that melts away the fat youโ€™ve already stored or the stuff you keep piling on because you eat like crap. The only things that actually do anything are supplements that bind to fatty acids during digestion, but even then... if you don't watch what you eat, it's a total waste of money... ๐Ÿ™‚
