There is a massive distinction between genuine folk music and cheap, commercialized radio hits. We are talking about the latter here—that's the crux of what people are trying to tell you.
You can critique something without being a fan of it. But I suppose that concept might be a bit too nuanced for your pea-sized brain to grasp.
