Ugh, I honestly have no clue why this is happening to me right now. A few years back, I dealt with similar delays while my cycle was still trying to find its rhythm—probably just some hormonal chaos. I’m really crossing my fingers it isn't something more annoying like PCOS, thyroid issues, or something else entirely... 🤷 🤷
I don't know why this keeps happening. A few years back, my cycle was all over the place until things finally leveled out. Probably just hormones, hopefully it's not something like PCOS or a thyroid issue... 🤷 🤷[/QUOTE

Look, mine just showed up after being MIA for two and a half months. Honestly? Just start taking birth control and it'll be on schedule every single month. If you're always dealing with irregular cycles, that's usually the fix. But if it's just a one-time delay? It's probably just stress. Period.☕
Honestly, my period has never been late on me before—well, unless you count that weird stretch about ten years ago when my cycle was just all over the place before finally settling down—so this is a total first for me.
I’ve got a feeling it’s just a perfect storm of stress, the heatwave we're having, some meds I'm taking, and an inflammation going on...

For those who aren't currently looking to start a family, using standard birth control can be a great way to keep your cycles predictable and regular. It’s a bit like keeping a car on a steady maintenance schedule to avoid any unexpected breakdowns. However, if you are actually trying to conceive and find that your periods are being stubborn and inconsistent, a doctor will likely prescribe something like Duphaston to get things back on track. That was certainly the approach my physician took with me to smooth things out. 👍

So, I’ve been falling down this absolute rabbit hole online trying to figure out why my period is acting so weirdly lately, and honestly? It’s terrifying. I found a list of everything that could be causing it—we’re talking anything from hyperthyroidism to even stuff like Turner syndrome... 😱

Seriously though, someone get me some answers before I lose my mind! 🙂

I just don't get one thing... why on earth are people with issues like this seeking advice from amateurs? Since your last checkup (you said six months ago), anything could have happened. It’s honestly foolish and irresponsible to ask "people with similar experiences" to give you a prognosis or suggest medication. If something is wrong, GO TO A DOCTOR!!!!! Don't try to play doctor with yourself. Bleeding every two weeks is NEVER normal, period! Since this started last month, I sincerely hope you actually saw an OB-GYN and that the issue is already sorted out.
We women have this terrible habit of just brushing off our health problems and acting like it doesn't matter. We really need to fix that mindset!!! Especially when it comes to stuff like this.

Seriously, don't try to play doctor with yourself. Bleeding every two weeks is absolutely NOT NORMAL no matter what! Since this started happening last month, I really, truly hope you went to see a specialist and got everything sorted out.
We women have this terrible habit of just waving off our health problems and acting like it doesn't matter, and we seriously need to kick that habit! Especially when it comes to stuff like this.

But hey, what's the rush?😁
Dr. Eluga (not sure if I'm allowed to mention names here, haha) sent me straight home and told me to go check my hormone levels—yeah, great idea, right? Given my totally irregular cycle, she wanted me to get bloodwork done specifically between day 2 and day 3 of my period.🙄
Of course, I didn't actually go, and she didn't even tell me where to go or what the plan was!😢

But then when it happened a second time, I went to see a specialist at a clinic in Chicago, and without even overthinking the hormones, they immediately gave me a prescription to stop the bleeding first, then suggested I take Yasmin to get everything back on track, and *then* go for the bloodwork and hormone tests.

Anyway, ladies, please don't mess around with this, and don't you dare walk out of that doctor's office until they give you some kind of prescription to stop the bleeding! Because by the time you finish all those tests, you could be bleeding yourself into total exhaustion.

Rachel Torres said:Well, apparently—at least according to what doctors tell you—a regular cycle falls somewhere between 25 and 31 days... mine was usually pretty steady, hitting every 28 to 30 days... if it falls outside that window, it’s just considered short or long...🙂

A standard cycle runs from day 21 to something... I can't recall the exact number right now... but anything from 21 days up is technically within the norm. 👍 Mine's a bit on the shorter side, but hey, it's fine... it's normal...

By the way, I deal with endometriosis, and I never actually had those bloody spotting issues in the middle of my cycle... though I did have incredibly heavy periods that lasted 10 to 12 days straight... and then I'd end up getting another massive one just 10 days later...

Seriously lady, just show up already, I’m losing my mind here! 🙂

Did she show up? I'm dealing with the exact same thing—my cycle is exactly 15 days late today. It's the first time it's happened and I'm definitely not pregnant.

Usually, I can track this stuff like clockwork.😲

Now I’m starting to feel like total Jeremiah....

I honestly wouldn't stress too much about a late period right now. From what I can tell lately, it seems like absolutely nobody has had a regular cycle these past few months. I guess a huge part of it might be the weather—just constant shifts, weird temperatures for this time of year, those sudden swings—not to mention the stress factor, which is just off the charts! I don't know exactly what's going on, but everything feels out of sync for everyone, and if you ask me, you can see it manifesting on people's faces... maybe it's even all that processed junk food we eat every day, the preservatives, the GMO stuff, and things like that. I really think it all adds up to a general sense of chaos 🤷

My own cycle was about 10 days late last month, too. And then, a few years back when I was still in college, I completely skipped an entire month, only for the next one to show up exactly on schedule, almost like nothing happened at all 🤷 We all pretty much agreed it was just because of stress 🙂

On top of that, I have a friend who was actually born in Australia. She moved back to the States about five or six years ago, but she basically has nothing to wear during the winter here 😕 It’s just how she is, I suppose; as soon as the weather warms up, she’s back to her usual self 🤷

Yeah, you’ve got a point there. It’s honestly no shocker that our cycles are all over the place lately, but I always figure it's better to just go see a doctor and get some peace of mind.
Mine's been two weeks late, down to the day, so I'm heading to my OB-GYN next week for a full checkup. I'm pretty sure it's nothing major, but still, better safe than sorry, right?

I used to be able to track my cycle down to the hour, you know?😲

Now I feel like I’m slowly turning into Jeremiah....

But hey, as you can see from the previous post, it finally arrived! 🙂
The same thing just happened to me for the first time, too. I totally spiraled (because, well, that's just who I am) and honestly, all that stressing out probably just pushed my cycle back even further. Anyway, I'm planning on hitting up my doctor next week just to be safe and get some peace of mind.

Let me know when your "visitor" finally makes an appearance! 😁

I usually track everything pretty closely by my cycle, so it's throwing me for a loop.😲

So, my period kicked in yesterday, and I haven't taken any hormones or anything to mess with it. Just curious—how many days does yours usually last when you're going totally natural? Like, what's your typical window?

Could we please just consolidate all the threads about delayed periods into one single discussion? 🙂

I was on Varela a couple of months ago and my cycle was totally regular after that. But I haven't even had sex this past month, and now I'm seven days late. My pregnancy test came back negative. Any idea what else could be causing the delay?

It’s likely just some hormonal fluctuations triggered by Varela; everything should settle down soon enough.😉

It’s also worth considering that stress can be a significant factor in causing delays 🙂
