Now, unknown would probably just dump a bunch of links on you and tell you to go use Google 😁 but I can't be bothered. 😬

Jesus, seriously—don't bother having sex until you learn the basics about your own body. Start tracking your cycle.

Back in '95, I got pregnant just one day after my period ended. It was the fourth day since my cycle started, and my period only lasts three days. Total shock. No guesswork involved either—my guy was visiting from out of town once a month back then. So much for that "formula" for calculating fertile days.

Karen Rivera71 said:I mean, honestly, how can any sane person even think about having sex during a period? It’s basically the one time a woman is just trying to reset and clear everything out, and you guys just can't seem to hold it together. Plus, it's pretty ridiculous that someone your age doesn't grasp the basics... this feels more like a conversation for teenagers.

😁 🤣

placidpanther12 said:I personally don't have an issue with having sex during my period, but it’s usually around day four or five, right when things are winding down. Everything goes smoothly—I just pop the tampon out right before we get intimate so my partner doesn't even see any blood...

That’s actually how we handle it if it’s really necessary 🤣 Basically, once it's almost over, I'll either take the tampon out right then or we'll just hop in the shower together from the very start...

Honestly though, you should probably try to avoid sex during your period altogether. Like so many people have pointed out, that's the body's "cleansing" phase, and there's also a much higher risk of infections because everything is more sensitive down there—that's what my doctor told me.

And man, I totally feel for these girls who are absolutely terrified that they might be pregnant. Good grief, I spent so much time obsessing over my cycle, wondering when it would show up, if it would come at all... It’s all because sperm can easily survive for up to five days, so you could technically conceive even if he doesn't finish inside you. So that period you're so desperately waiting for? It might arrive even if you're already pregnant... Plus, those "fertile windows" are never 100% certain anyway. Ugh, thank goodness I made it through that anxiety. 🙂
The result? Five years with the same guy and still not pregnant. 🙂
The solution? Birth control pills. They were a total game-changer for us. 😍

During my period, I usually just stick to using a vibrator or I'll give one of my lesbian girlfriends a call to come over for some oral pleasure.😂

Hey!
When it comes to getting pregnant while you're actually on your period, it's pretty much a long shot.
The odds are incredibly slim because of how your hormone levels fluctuate and the way the uterine lining sheds—basically, there's no cozy spot for an egg to settle in if it actually gets fertilized.
Honestly, your best bet is to start tracking your fertile window. You can easily do this right from your computer; just search "fertile days" on Google, and it'll probably pull up a calculator or a site like treasury.gov or something similar where you can plug in your dates and get a precise idea for every month.

Amy Morgan34 said:Please, I need help!

Basically, my period cramps are absolutely brutal!
It’s enough to drive me insane!
It all starts with a low-grade fever, my breasts get sore, this dull pressure in my lower back kicks in, and then—total devastation.😲
My hips feel ice cold, I’m nauseous, my stomach bloats like I’m five months pregnant, and my head feels like it's going to explode! Not to mention I can barely sit still because my blood pressure spikes so hard!
Last night, I woke up in a literal pool of blood—it was up to my knees. I had to toss my pajamas because they were totally ruined. I went to see Ginić, and she just shrugged and said, "That's just how it is, what can we do?" Are you kidding me? I feel like I'm dying every three weeks.😲

If anyone has dealt with this or knows any way out of this nightmare, please help me. You have no idea how painful and miserable this is.😢
Thanks in advance.🙂

I went through the exact same thing, and I ended up on birth control. Honestly, I thought people were exaggerating when my friends told me it helps with the pain, so I decided to run a little experiment. I took them for three months. My period came right on time, hurt just a tiny bit, and that was it... none of that massive bleeding or whatever else.🙂Then after three months, I figured, "Fine, let's see what happens if I stop." Month one? Fine. Then I missed two whole months. When my period finally hit, the pain was unbearable—I would have swallowed anything just to make it stop. I eventually went back on the pill, and now everything is perfect.🙂 So, my advice? Just try birth control.

Hey there. I’ve never dealt with periods that were quite that painful or dragged on that long, though I have had some absolutely brutal cramps from time to time (thankfully, they aren't a regular thing). I’d definitely suggest trying some sage tea, though honestly, I'm sure most of those other herbal teas people recommend would do the trick too.
Everything really turned around for me once I started practicing yoga. To be fair, I originally picked it up just to drop a few pounds, but my overall health ended up getting a massive boost. If yoga isn't really your scene, just find some kind of physical activity you actually enjoy. Trust me, I know it sounds cliché and almost too simple, but staying active makes a difference. It’s not going to be a magic cure-all, but it certainly won't hurt. It’s much easier for Ginić to just hand out a prescription for pills than to actually deal with the root of the problem.
Good luck.

I don't know... I'm probably overthinking this... my cycle has always been incredibly consistent... exactly 28 days... and now I'm already 7 days late. We had sex about a week ago... 8 days ago, actually... without protection, though I'm sure it couldn't have been anything... but I can't stop worrying about it. This whole month has just been such a mess for me... so much changing in my life lately... and whenever my period is coming, I usually get these breast pains and stomach cramps... which I've definitely felt over the last two days, even if nothing has happened yet. I really hope it's just the stress... I need to go pick up a test...😢

I’ve been hearing this from so many women lately. It feels like we’re all dealing with these shifts—maybe it's just nature acting up again, or spring arriving a little later than expected, throwing our internal clocks off.
There are actually several reasons why things might be delayed.😛First off, you could be pregnant (so just grab a test and settle your mind one way or the other), second, it could be a hormonal imbalance, or third, you might be hitting menopause earlier than anticipated.
To figure out if it’s menopause or pregnancy, you really need to get your prolactin levels checked.😁>
That third option hits a little too close to home for me.😁I was even prescribed some pills to help jumpstart my cycle, but they simply aren't working!! (I've been taking them drop by drop every third day).
The medication is called Dabroston. Honestly, I am right on the edge of a total nervous breakdown!! At first, I thought, "Hey, if I don't take them, maybe my period will just stay away forever," but then reality set in. You can't just ignore your health when you're young; you need your bone density, your calcium, and all that. Eventually, I started having these emotional outbursts that were just completely irrational. So, I decided to take the medication after all. While the mood swings finally subsided, my period still hasn't shown up (as if I should write a poem about it or something)😍. 🙂And no, I am definitely not pregnant. 🙂My doctor told me it’s probably not genetic and that I shouldn't overthink it.
But in my case, it really does seem to run in the family. I inherited this from both my mother and my grandmother.

Still, I can't stop overthinking it, especially since this entire month has been such a whirlwind of life changes and massive stress. It happened to me too. My cycle used to be clockwork, down to the minute, until one day it just wasn't anymore... right when you least expect it.

Prompted by everything happening tonight, I decided to spend some time browsing online—but I couldn't find anything specific that actually helps. So, I’m turning to this community in hopes that someone here has dealt with something similar and knows how to fix it.

So...
In my family, at least three generations have struggled with debilitating menstrual cramps—as far as I know. My grandmother had them, my mother has them, and now I do too.
I managed to solve the issue for myself using contraceptive patches; before that, I just fought through it with Ketorolac Forte.

The problem is my mother.
She developed thrombosis following a pregnancy, which means any kind of hormonal birth control is strictly off the table.
To make matters worse, she was diagnosed with uterine fibroids within the last year, and they're making the pain significantly more intense. It’s gotten to the point where standard painkillers don't even touch it.
Neither Ketorolac, Voltaren, Ibuprofen, nor Advil—nothing, nothing, nothing works.

She saw her OB-GYN a few days ago, and the doctor said the fibroids are still under control, so he isn't recommending surgical removal just yet.

What can be done? How can I ease her discomfort—how can we reduce the pain (if it can even be fully eliminated)?
I am honestly losing my mind; I feel helpless. She’s twisting in bed from the agony—moaning and crying. I’ve tried herbal teas, hot and cold compresses, different positions to help with the cramping...

She’ll have to endure this cycle as is, but I want to be prepared for the next one so I actually know how to help her.
If anyone has any insight or experience regarding this, please share what you know.

Maybe go ahead and look into Mirena? I've heard people say it can actually help clear up fibroids, kind of like how an IUD works, but honestly, do a little digging online first. There are probably some deep threads on health forums about it too, though you should definitely get a real opinion from your gynecologist before deciding.

The Mirena releases hormones too... and hormones are absolutely out of the question for me.

Hey there. I’ve run into a bit of a situation here. My period has started coming every two months instead of once a month like it normally does. I've never been part of any high-risk group and I've never had unprotected sex. What could be causing this?
