It’s not even an issue, really... just how things work. There isn't some medical fix for it, menopause will eventually take care of that for you😁 Until then, just be glad you aren't dealing with the kind of brutal pain some of my friends go through.

Ugh, everyone kept trying to push birth control on me... but honestly, I don't have fibroids or anything, everything came back totally clear.

Just take something mild, or at least some Advil.

Yeah, well, heavy bleeding and those nasty cramps are basically just muscle spasms caused by your hormones being totally out of whack. You might be able to take the edge off with some B vitamins or magnesium—if I remember correctly—right before your cycle hits, or maybe try hormone therapy.
Or, honestly? Just chill out and stop stressing over it.
Lie down, wrap yourself in a cozy blanket, and just binge some TV.
If you're one of those hyperactive types, just throw on a diaper and go for a hike. Staying active actually helps regulate things.

Wait, what even is "Dabroston"? 😬
Is that something a doctor prescribes, or can you just pick it up over the counter at a CVS without a script?😬

No, you need a doctor for that, obviously.
It manages bleeding in a way similar to birth control pills, except it isn't actually used for contraception.

It’s not exactly unusual to see heavy bleeding on day two, especially if you just had a checkup and know everything is fine. Honestly, I deal with a lot of bleeding myself, but good God. I’d much rather deal with this than what one friend of mine goes through—she’s literally collapsing from the pain constantly. That’s an absolute nightmare.

So, what's my plan? Arm myself with some seriously heavy-duty ice packs, a stash of Advil, a thermos of boiling water, and just call in sick so I can hide under the covers all day. 😬

It works on bleeding in a way pretty similar to birth control, except—well, it’s not actually contraception.

Thanks for the heads-up. 🙂

Actually, my issue isn't even really about having heavy periods—it's more that they just drag on forever... I'm talking like 7 or 8 days long. 😠

And as for the cramps... right before my "aunt" arrived😬 I took a couple of Advil (maybe two or three, just one a day) and honestly? I didn't feel a single thing. No pain at all. 😍

I actually just brushed up on this for an exam recently (haha). If you're dealing with heavy bleeding, taking an NSAID—like ibuprofen—preventatively a day before or on the first day can help. It reduces prostaglandin production, which doesn't just handle the pain, but also helps keep the flow from getting too intense. So, grab some Advil or something similar, but don't overdo it; definitely stay away from aspirin. Honestly, it strikes me as weird that you aren't feeling any pain at all. Could be a sign of an anovulatory cycle, so maybe go get checked out? Not saying it is, obviously, just my two cents.

I definitely feel it, though not super bad... sometimes I can power through without anything, other times I gotta grab an Excedrin or whatever....but my second day is always pretty heavy, so that's just my normal.

I've noticed that if I've been under massive stress or pushing myself too hard physically, things can get way worse... about two years ago, I totally panicked because I was having these insane flows with clots, and that happened right after a job that absolutely wrecked me both physically and mentally.

Usually, when I'm chill and everything is pretty much under control, it's more or less manageable.

Wait, what exactly is an anovulatory cycle?

it handles bleeding pretty much the same way birth control does, just isn't actually contraception.

Do you actually know what it is exactly? Like, is it plant-based or something?

No, it’s a hormone supplement.

Michelle Phillips54 said:Why would that be an issue? Mine are heavy too and last about 4 or 5 days. It seems pretty normal to me. I think it would actually be weirder if my period was just a tiny bit of spotting.

I mean, who's saying heavy is better than light anyway???

For me, personally, that was easily the worst experience I've ever had with medication. I took them for maybe two or three weeks just to get my cycle to start, and they absolutely wrecked me. 😢 I felt incredibly bloated—honestly, like a balloon ready to pop—it completely killed my appetite, and I even dealt with some awful facial hair growth😠... so I definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone else.👎

though, of course, everyone reacts differently to things like this...

"Better" is such a huge stretch here—it’s totally subjective, right? Personally, I’m fine with having less, while my roommate prefers more... but honestly? Both ways are totally normal.

I’ve dealt with heavy cycles myself, but I managed to get them under control thanks to the Celestial. It’s been smooth sailing ever since. Honestly, I don't think there was any other way; I tried every other method out there first.

I can't believe I'm actually reading this. So I read it again, and seriously, you're sitting there saying it's "weird" that nothing hurts? I read it once more and I still don't believe it.

Where's the smart bitch when you actually need one?..
