blueheron46 said:That was hands down the worst thing I’ve ever had to take. I popped them for maybe two or three weeks just to get my period started, and they absolutely wrecked me. 😢 I felt bloated like some kind of parade balloon, food sounded disgusting, and I ended up getting super hairy (like, actual facial hair😠) so I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.👎

not that everyone reacts the exact same way, obviously...

I highly doubt you suddenly became hairy from that. That was probably just your natural state, and the birth control just messed with your cycle.
The thing is, as long as you're on the pill, you aren't going to bleed. Once you quit, that's when the bleeding starts.

I'm just about ready to drink myself into a stupor just to get my period to start.

I was taking it just to keep the bleeding down.
Some women take it to help stay pregnant.

Basically, it balances out your hormones.

DABROSTON tablets are used for things like:

1. Hormone Replacement Therapy
To counteract estrogen effects on the uterine lining during HRT for women going through natural or surgical menopause who still have their uterus.

2. Progesterone Deficiency
Treating conditions where there isn't enough progesterone, such as:
- painful periods
- endometriosis
- secondary amenorrhea
- irregular cycles
- dysfunctional uterine bleeding
- PMS
- threatened or recurrent miscarriage linked to proven progesterone deficiency
- infertility caused by corpus luteum insufficiency.

Honestly, I probably could use some again right about now.

It’s incredibly rare to find a woman who doesn't feel a thing during—or even leading up to—her period. If you're dealing with anovulatory cycles, it’s pretty much a given. So, what else do you want to know?

My doctor actually told me it’s "weird" that I don't get painful periods. Seriously? If my cramps were actually that bad, I’d be looking for a new physician in a heartbeat.

An anovulatory cycle means ovulation just doesn't happen—no egg ever matures. It’s incredibly common during those first couple of years after a girl gets her period, but it’s also tied to PCOS. Beyond that? Stress, extreme dieting, pituitary tumors, thyroid issues, diabetes, and plenty of other stuff can trigger it too.

Look, I wasn't talking about agonizing pain or intense tension here. A little cramping right before or during the first 24 hours of your period? That's just standard procedure. Honestly, having a cycle that's completely painless or totally symptom-free is pretty rare once you hit reproductive age.

Hey everyone! So, I’m still pretty young and there’s a whole world of stuff I’m sure you all have figured out by now, but I’m just starting to navigate it myself...
I’ve recently started getting my period, and honestly, I don't really have anyone else to turn to for advice on this kind of thing. I'm just looking for some clarity on a few things...

When exactly are we most fertile?
Are we fertile right after our period ends?
And could someone explain what ovulation actually is?

Also, if there's anything important I totally missed or forgot to ask, please feel free to jump in and let me know! 🙂 😘

Thanks so much!

But what if you don't actually have someone stepping into that motherly role in your life?

There’s a very specific reason why I was asking all of you...

Look, she’s family. It’s always just easier to talk things through with a real person standing right in front of you. I wasn't trying to be unkind or anything. These pages I sent over seem pretty thorough to me, and everything is laid out quite clearly.

I don't get why she's saying there isn't anyone playing the mother figure role... it's pretty obvious. 🙄

So, look, periods happen—it's what women do—usually every 27 or 28 days, though it varies wildly from person to person. For me, ever since I started at twelve, it’s been super regular, never missed a beat, but that’s not a universal rule. Some of my girlfriends had totally erratic cycles when they were younger until things settled down. And then you have people whose cycles are never steady... but that’s a whole different conversation.

Then there's ovulation, which is basically your fertile window. In theory, it’s the midpoint of the cycle—like day 12 or 13 after your period starts (counting the first day of bleeding as day one). This window lasts about 48 hours, and that's when conception happens. But again, that's just the textbook theory. I know women who got pregnant around day seven, and others who conceived right at the end of their cycle. If you're having sex, just make sure you're protected. Always.

If there’s anything else you want to know—just ask. If you feel weird posting it publicly, you can always shoot me a private message.

And honestly, the internet is right there if you need it. You can find explanations everywhere.

Hmm...
I deal with painful, heavy periods too...
But here’s my thing:
Mine happen CONSTANTLY. It’s not even a standard 28-day cycle—it’s more like every 10 to 20 days. Some months, I only get about three days of actual "off" time between cycles! At most, I get 15.
I went to my OB-GYN and everything looked fine on the ultrasound—she couldn't find anything wrong—so she just prescribed some birth control to regulate things...
It isn't doing a damn thing for me—it's like I'm not even taking it. Total disaster. I've been bleeding non-stop for 20 days now and I am seriously losing my mind... 🙂
Now I need to schedule another appointment, but of course, I have to wait because the next available opening isn't for another two weeks... 🙄
Has anyone else dealt with this kind of "joy"? Any advice on how to actually fix this??🙂

Ever since I started taking birth control, my periods have been super light and honestly, they almost never hurt. Like, zero issues at all! It’s such a huge difference because before I was on the pill, I used to deal with that really uncomfortable aching, though even back then, I never actually found myself needing to reach for an Advil or anything to manage the cramps.🙂

Well, I guess I’m just one of those lucky people who can’t even touch birth control! 😠
Once, back when my period decided to stage a full-blown protest right in the middle of the day—while I was wearing light blue jeans and sitting through an American history lecture—I ended up having to rush to the ER... My doctor gave me some contraceptive pills to try and stop the bleeding... and let me tell you, I spent the entire day stuck in bed—nausea, sweating, vomiting, stomach cramps... all from just ONE SINGLE pill! Never again.
Maybe I'm just cursed. 😲

I remember this one time, my period just decided to go absolutely wild right in the middle of the day while I was wearing light blue jeans, and I ended up having to rush straight to the ER... my wife had given me some kind of hormonal pill to try and stop the bleeding, and let me tell you, I spent the entire rest of the day stuck in bed with nausea, sweating, vomiting, and stomach cramps... all because of just ONE SINGLE PILL! Never again.
Maybe I'm just cursed.😲

Are you absolutely certain it was definitely the pill that made you feel that awful? Look, you lost a ton of blood, so have you considered that maybe the physical toll from all that bleeding was what actually wiped you out? I'm not saying it couldn't be the pill, but I find that hard to believe. Besides, there are so many different types out there, and maybe a different brand would actually work for your body. Either way, any of them should technically make your periods lighter and less painful!👍

I’ve got a quick question about vaginal health, but it’s not related to periods...
Basically, a friend opened up to me and mentioned she’s dealing with a strange odor down there, even though she’s super diligent about her hygiene...
The thing is, she’s totally avoiding seeing a doctor...
Could this actually be something serious?

Ugh, tell me about it—my periods are absolutely massive, and day two is hands down the absolute worst... I can go through an entire pack of Always Overnight pads in what feels like seconds. Honestly, if you’ve already checked in with your OB-GYN, there’s probably zero reason to stress out... everyone is different, right? Some people have lighter cycles, some have heavy ones, some are done in four days while others are stuck dealing with it for seven... I don't really get why people make such a big deal out of it...
And for the record, I don't even get cramps or any of that painful stuff...
If I had to pick one thing that actually helps, it’s definitely chugging as much water as possible. It makes me feel way better, keeps the bloating down, and honestly, I just feel "cleaner" since I'm hitting the restroom more often to pee. 😁
