Stress can totally mess with your cycle. Was your period actually normal though? Like, was the flow consistent with what you usually get, and did you have the typical shedding of the uterine lining?

It lasted the usual amount of time... five days, just like always... but man, I have never felt pain quite like this before.

If everything felt normal, then don't sweat it. For instance, my periods always hurt like crazy—I'm talking brutal—but then, maybe two or three times a year, I’ll have one where I barely feel anything at all. Cycles aren't consistent, so the symptoms aren't always going to be the same.

But if you aren't trying to get pregnant, make sure you're using protection. You just got lucky this time. 🙂

So, my last two cycles have been pretty short, lasting about 21 days.😕 And then this time, it just hit me out of nowhere right at day 21—no warning signs or anything, which is weird because I usually get those classic PMS symptoms before my period actually starts.
I guess I'm just sitting here wondering what to make of all this.😢

I’ve been on Duphaston for 7 days now. My period started about 5 days ago, though it actually kicked in the day before yesterday just like my usual cycle.

The weird part is that everything feels totally off.🙂 It doesn't look like my regular period at all—it’s darker and there are way more clots, which is honestly stressing me out. Plus, it feels more like mucus than actual blood. Sorry if that's too much TMI... 😢 And I have zero clue when this is going to wrap up. Usually, I get a heavy flow for 3 or 4 days and then it tapers off in a day or two. Is this thing gonna drag on as long as I'm taking these pills?

What am I looking at for next month? Should I expect my next period to show up in the usual 29-32 day window? And when do I actually start counting Day 1 of my cycle—is it when this light spotting started or when this "normal" one hit?😕

I’m heading to the beach next Wednesday and I'm really hoping I can actually swim without worrying about this...

I just wanted to jump in and say that stress is seriously no joke. I used to have such a predictable cycle—usually right around 28 days—but ever since things got intense and stressful, my period has been all over the place. One month it’s 34 days, then 36, and then suddenly it drops to 25, which is just awful. On top of that, I deal with pretty painful cramps, and honestly, stress hasn't done a thing to help with the pain either. 🤣

So, I deal with pretty regular and really painful periods. On average, I’m sidelined by pain for about a month or two every year.
But lately, over the last few months, I’ve been getting these bruises on my legs right before my period starts. As far as I can tell, I haven't been bumping into anything. It’s usually around five or six bruises at a time, and they seem to be increasing. They just fade away on their own after a couple of days. My blood work came back totally normal.
Has anyone else dealt with something similar? I'm not exactly panicking, I'm just curious why these keep popping up right before my cycle hits. 🤷

A friend of mine says she’s getting so worn out she ends up on an IV drip just to recover. Is there actually a fix for this? Maybe some pills or specific exercises? She claims medication doesn't even touch the problem...

So, here’s the situation. Yesterday, I noticed less than half an inch of clear discharge when I wiped with toilet paper. Today, there was a bit more—which actually got me thinking—could my first period be right around the corner? Earlier, I just wiped after using the bathroom (not even after a full trip to the restroom), and there was a tiny bit of brownish fluid 🤷. Just for context, I’ll be starting 7th grade this fall, and I’ll be turning 13 in October. My mom actually started her period back in 7th grade. I’m about 5 feet tall and weigh around 88 pounds, if that matters at all. My breasts are developing, and I’ve started seeing some pubic hair too. It’s not like I’m rushing to get my period or anything—I haven't really been dwelling on it—but I figured I should stay informed. 🙂 Please share your own experiences! Thanks in advance, and please, let's keep things respectful and avoid any rude or inappropriate comments.

Pardon me—that previous post was actually written by a friend using my account, but she has her own login now, so there won't be any more mix-ups like that. Anyway, please don't even bother responding to it; I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't write anything at all. If you reply, I'll get a notification in my inbox, and then my brother might see it—he'll end up thinking I was the one who wrote it! So, if you could just pretend you never saw it, that would be wonderful. 🙂

Hey everyone, I’m 23 and dealing with something a bit confusing... My last period started on July 24th and lasted five days, which is when I started taking Loette birth control pills. Around day 20 of my cycle—August 11th—I noticed this brown discharge. It’s really thick, dark, and heavy, and it just hasn't let up yet. On top of that, I’ve been feeling all those typical pre-menstrual symptoms. I've been pretty consistent with my protection, so I'm mostly wondering if this is just my next period starting early, or if it's just my body reacting to starting the pill. I'm stuck because I'm not sure when to start my next pack, and I can't help but worry if this is dangerous. I did go see my gynecologist about two months ago for an ultrasound and everything checked out perfectly fine at the time.
Thanks in advance, cheers!

Hi there... I was wondering about something... During the winter, my cycle tends to stretch out quite a bit, sometimes lasting up to 30 days... but lately, things have shifted; last month it arrived on day 23, and this month it came on day 20. It seems to happen right alongside these bouts of illness—this time it felt more like a heavy flu, with sneezing, dizziness, nausea, fatigue, and even aching in my bones and muscles... My period is also extremely heavy, and I’ve been dealing with nosebleeds as well... Honestly, my periods take such a toll on me every single time... I suppose I'm wondering what the best course of action might be—should I look into specific medical tests, focus on boosting my immune system, or something else entirely? I guess I'd love to hear if anyone else has had similar experiences.

My periods really do knock me sideways every time... To give some context, about 8 or 9 years ago, I was carrying about 30 to 35 pounds more than I am now... so while I did lose weight, it wasn't all at once... but these recent changes are starting to make me feel a little worried.

Got a quick question—if anyone's dealt with this, hit me up... not even sure if I'm in the right place here...
Has anyone actually tried those evening primrose oil capsules mixed with Vitamin E and B? You know, the ones from CVS...
My OB-GYN suggested them for my PMS symptoms, so I'm just wondering if anyone's actually using them and if they actually work...

I'm running a few days late this month, probably just stress catching up with me. I’ve got all the symptoms lined up, but nothing is actually happening and the waiting is driving me absolutely insane 🙂 Is there any way to jumpstart things so it finally shows up?

Drink three cups of hot peppermint tea and you should see results within a day. 🙂
(I only resort to this method when I'm significantly overdue and truly out of options.)

Warning: Peppermint can stimulate uterine contractions, which means your period might be heavier or more painful. Use this method only as a last resort. 😉

Word of warning: peppermint can trigger uterine contractions, which means your period might end up being heavier or more painful. Only use this method if you’re truly out of options. 😉

Thanks 🙂. Usually, it shows up right on day 30, but today is day 32 and still nothing. I guess I'll wait until the end of the day... if nothing happens by then, it's peppermint time. 🙂
PS: I read somewhere that chasteberry tea works for this too... have you ever tried that?

I’m 45 years old, and frankly, I am at my wits' end trying to make sense of what is happening with my cycle. I have been to the gynecologist five separate times over the last six months—five!—and every single time, the verdict is exactly the same: everything is perfectly fine. No cysts, no signs of menopause, ovaries are functioning normally, the uterus looks great, and my Pap smear came back flawless. Everything is "perfect" according to the doctors, yet my body feels like it’s in total chaos. Is it possible that stress could be the culprit here? Especially since I am currently navigating the diagnosis process for an entirely different medical condition? I feel like I’m losing my mind because of this unpredictable cycle. Sometimes it lasts for three weeks straight, then it disappears completely, then it returns to normal, only to flare up again just a week later. How am I even supposed to track this? My doctor insists I don't need any hormone therapy or medication—he just brushes it off as these "isolated episodes" that happen occasionally. Well, excuse me, but this is the fifth such "episode" in just nine months! If all my tests are coming back perfect, why is my cycle behaving so wildly? Can a prolonged period of intense stress really throw everything this far out of whack?

Elizabeth King84 said:Thanks. 🙂 So, I usually get my period right on the 30th. It’s the 32nd now and, well, nothing. Silence. I guess I'll just wait until the end of the day and see what happens... if it doesn't show up by tonight, I might just lose it. 🙂
P.S. I was reading somewhere that even lemon balm tea can help with that kind of thing... have you ever tried it?

So, did it actually work? I mean, I guess we'll find out.😁
I have to admit, that sounds pretty unbelievable to me. I guess I’m just having a hard time wrapping my head around it.

I've seen my gynecologist five times over the last six months, and everything comes back perfect—no cysts, no signs of menopause, ovaries look fine, uterus looks normal, and my Pap smear was flawless. Everything is technically "healthy," yet my cycle is a complete mess. Could this be related to stress, since I'm currently going through the diagnostic process for another health issue? Honestly, I think I'm losing my mind because of it; sometimes it lasts for three weeks, then disappears, then comes back normally, and now it's acting up again in just a week. I can't even track it anymore. My doctor keeps telling me I don't need any hormone therapy or anything, just that these are isolated episodes that happen occasionally, but this is the fifth time in nine months. Even though all my tests are clear, my cycle is totally wild. Is it possible for such a long period of stress to throw everything out of whack?

I mean, it definitely could. I guess our bodies pick up on even the smallest bit of tension, especially if that stress just lingers for a long time. Maybe try to find a way to handle or ease whatever is causing the stress if you're able to at all.

In my own experience, my ovaries actually became polycystic because of a long stretch of intense stress, and that lasted for about a year—roughly as long as the stress itself. It wasn't until things started settling down that everything finally returned to normal, and I've been okay since then.

I wouldn't worry too much about it right now. I suppose that stress just has to go somewhere. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that you can get through this stressful patch soon.🙂

It’s clearly just the stress—I can't seem to shake it off at the moment. Honestly, there's this other health issue weighing on my mind, something completely unrelated to gynecology, and it's honestly starting to worry me quite a bit. I'm dealing with all those classic menopause symptoms—insomnia, night sweats, you name it—but then again, could it all just be the stress? Who knows? In any case, thank you; I'm just hoping things finally settle down soon.
