Hey, has any of you ladies tried buying boots on eBay? And like, what keywords do you even type in to actually find boots that fit us with thicker calves?! 🤷

Dennis James10 said:Ladies, if I may ask you something first... (I am not entirely acquainted with the rules of this Forum yet, so I wanted to survey the landscape before proceeding)🤷

What are your thoughts on me posting some photos of the items I have for sale, covering all sizes? I find it quite difficult to navigate the "clothing sales/trades..." thread because most of the listings are labeled "too small" for both me and our group, so I was thinking perhaps it would be more efficient and much clearer to post here instead. Or should I simply start an entirely new thread??
That is my opening inquiry... I believe this would be beneficial for everyone, but I certainly expect your feedback. 😁 😉

The site rules clearly state that selling fashion is strictly prohibited.

Does anyone happen to know what the prices are like at Maxy P lately?

Hmm, I’m not entirely sure... though prices seem relatively high—I mean, when you see people like Danijela Dvornik or Ivanka Boljkovac dressing there, they’re basically treated like A-list celebrities, right?
I know my mom used to pick up trousers there for about $167 back in the day, but with the recession hitting everything, she’s mostly sticking to flea markets or those budget retailers these days.

Anyway, back to the sister problems. First it was the pants, and now we’re dealing with a jacket crisis.
She’s hunting for this specific plaid winter jacket—and no, she won't budge on the pattern, she *needs* the plaid—with a budget of up to $$133. We checked out Ann Christine, but they don't carry anything larger than an XL, and honestly, we could barely squeeze her into it yesterday—the sleeves are incredibly narrow, not to mention she could hardly even zip it up.
So, does anyone know where I can find a plaid jacket that actually fits a size 14?
To be blunt, I managed to get that XL to button, but in my opinion, it fits more like a Medium than an XL. And those sleeves? Way too tight.

Expect to drop $60-$75 minimum—especially if you're looking at skirts or dresses.

Found out yesterday that Jadran carries tights in sizes 6, 7, and 8, though the shop only had nude in stock...

Where do you guys usually pick up your +++ socks? 😁

Not sure what kind of jacket you're looking for exactly (short bomber, pea coat, long parka, or what?)
But I'm pretty sure you'll find something at C&A...
I'm heading to the mall tomorrow, so I can give you a rundown of what's there if you want.😉

You know, if you head over to the mall, they’ve got that Takko section with all the full sizes—you know, those numbers from 42 to 54—and honestly, the prices are just so incredibly reasonable...

It’s a plaid winter jacket—not a full coat, just a jacket.
We looked at some coats earlier and she absolutely hated them—just said "ugh"—so now she wants a jacket that isn't too short, though I don't know exactly what her vision is... all I know is it has to be plaid. We even swung by C&A, but she didn't see anything that caught her eye.

Hey ladies!

Here’s my experience:
I wear a 46 up top and a 46-48 on bottom, which makes shopping an absolute nightmare.
Usually, I find something at Target—maybe a bag, a dress, or a tee. S. Oliver isn't bad; they have decent shirts, and I actually scored some business skirts there.
Every once in a while (on those rare Fridays), I stumble upon something at Mango, though I hate even stepping foot in there. It's way too overhyped and the quality is mediocre at best.
A few times a year, I make a trip to the mall specifically for H&M, but it totally depends on the season. Last year I grabbed a ton, but this year I only found one summer dress because their cuts have become bizarre lately. There's a Big Is Beautiful in the suburbs, but everything I try on there fits like a sack, so no thanks.
Honestly, I'm already dreading the hunt for summer shorts. I haven't been able to find any for years; I'm seriously thinking about just giving up.

I really wonder why none of these "fashion geniuses" have thought to scale up production during this recession. American designers? Everywhere you look, it's a size 8.

To brands like Diesel—your marketing experts can try all they want, but if you don't carry my size, you aren't getting my money.🙂

I’m not sure how much this helps since I haven't been shopping around in a while, but I remember Igor Dobranić (back when he was at the Bo boutique in the Galleria) used to have "larger" options whenever I happened to stroll by. I don't know the exact limit, but I recall a sales associate mentioning they carried stuff even bigger than my own size (US 8-10)... so maybe there's hope if you're dead set on supporting local designers. 🙂

They don't really go past a US 10, and if memory serves, it's mostly 6s through 8s... though you might stumble upon a slightly larger size here and there. 🙂

I just wanted to mention that since January 16th of this year, ASOS has actually launched a plus-size line... it's called ASOS CURVE, and they have some really lovely pieces that aren't even all that pricey, I think. Oh, and I believe Evans has started shipping to the States now too.

I see you guys are struggling with the larger sizes. My sister deals with the exact same thing. She always orders from ASOS because they carry up to UK size 20, which I think is roughly a US 16. Apparently, they’ve even launched a dedicated plus-size line with even bigger options now. Plus, they have these tunics and dresses that look really great, and the prices are honestly ridiculous—like, maybe $25 $53 per piece.
I personally head over to eBay UK all the time. They have H&M's plus-size line there too, and people sell tons of stuff. They also have standard dresses, pants, jackets, and things like that in sizes up to 24, which would be about a US 20.
So, you should definitely give it a shot. I know how frustrating it is when nothing fits. I have the same issue myself; it's not even that I'm overweight, I'm just a normal weight, but I'm really tall—about 5'11"—so finding jeans or shirts with sleeves that actually reach my wrists is a total nightmare.
I also highly recommend checking out Gap on eBay US. They have some seriously genius pieces. Their XXL dresses and tunics fit my sister perfectly, and she's somewhere around a US 14 or 16. They run big, so someone who is a US 18 could probably fit into their XXL quite comfortably.
As for brands here in the States, she occasionally goes to Bandolera for pants since it's a German company and their sizing feels more realistic, but Marina Rinaldi is just way too expensive; it's enough to drive you crazy. My sister actually found out that Marina Rinaldi has this massive warehouse in Italy, so I can ask her if you're interested. Supposedly it's an outlet where everything is like 70% off.

@David Sullivan61, would you mind asking about the Marine Rinaldi outlet for me?

I pick things up from them in Udine every now and then since the selection in Trieste is just okay, though I only go when there's a sale because those prices are absolutely brutal...

I actually think Dorothy Perkins is great too whenever I can find it, but I'm usually a size 20, and honestly, the options in San Diego are pretty non-existent...

So, I’ve been reading through these threads about everyone being in a state of despair because they can't find clothes in a size 22? Honestly, I feel your pain. I actually need to head into the hospital for a few days this Tuesday—tomorrow, technically—but I'm stuck. There isn't a single shop in all of Chicago that carries house dresses or nightgowns in a size 24 or 26. That's my size. It’s not that I don't own anything to wear at home, but what I have is strictly for lounging and is well past its prime. I’m actually quite jealous of anyone living near a Target or a Kohl's who might have better luck. I tried calling them, practically begging to pay extra for expedited shipping, but no luck. They just gave me the standard "10 to 15 business days" line and hung up. Would any of you happen to be near a department store and mind checking if they have any short-sleeved nightgowns in a 22, 24, or 26, or perhaps a house dress in a 24? I’d be incredibly grateful. They're admitting me to the hospital for a gastric band issue, and I'd really like to be decent.

The Bokić clan is here!!!

So, I’ll join the fray... I gave birth three months ago. Before that, I was a size 6 or 8, and finding clothes was a breeze because my figure was actually decent. I could shop at TopShop, Mexx, Benetton, Sisley—anyplace, really. But everything changed after the baby arrived. My stomach has flattened out somewhat, but my chest? Let's just say it's jumped up about three cup sizes due to nursing. Dieting isn't an option here; I’ve noticed that if I cut out carbs like bread or pasta, my milk supply drops, and then the little one struggles to eat.😂
Anyway, I’m 23, and I’m looking to camouflage certain areas—like my hips, for instance.
But I refuse to dress like an old lady. I want to wear what I used to: jeans, tees, you know the drill... something normal, or what I call "eternally modern."
I’m based in a coastal city where there’s absolutely nothing. It’s not even hard to find my size—I’m currently hovering between a US 10, 12, and occasionally a 14—but when I actually put these things on, it’s a disaster.
Jeans that end at my pelvis? My stomach spills out. Crop tops that hit just above the navel? Not happening. Dresses that stop mid-thigh? Good grief, I can't walk around the world looking like that.🤷
I’ve heard there are boutiques and brands in Europe that carry more classic cuts. You know exactly what I’m looking for. Just some higher-waisted jeans and slightly longer shirts. I simply want to look presentable without sacrificing style.
It’s painful to see women squeezing themselves into a size 8 just because they *can*, only to have every curve spilling out of the garment. Same goes for the tops. Though, I get it—when you're struggling, you take what you can get and try to make peace with your flaws.🤣
Honestly... I don't know what happened to the designers and retailers in this country. They seem to think American women are built like teenage boys—flat chests, no hips, no curves. If they actually stepped outside and looked at real people instead of living their lives through a TV screen, maybe they’d realize how wrong they are.

When it comes to denim, I have to give it up for Levi's—they actually carry my size, and the cuts aren't just those super shallow, unflattering styles. I wear them myself all the time and honestly, I’m a huge fan. My only gripe is that the price tag can be a bit of a gut punch sometimes. For tops, I usually find myself hitting up Old Navy; they’ve got such great stuff, and more importantly, they actually stock my size consistently. If you’re feeling adventurous, maybe take a trip over to a bigger outlet mall nearby—H&M usually has some really cute options for curvier figures, and since I’m typically a size 14, I can always find something in their regular line that actually fits. It’s definitely doable, though I know hunting for the right fit can be a total headache and a massive time sink, but you'll eventually strike gold 🙂
