Good grief, I feel like a whole new woman since I discovered KIK—it’s my absolute go-to over in Ormeau! The prices are a joke. Seriously, just ridiculous.
Tunics, blouses, and tees are going for $3 on sale, when they usually run about $10. Pants are down to $5, normally priced between $10 and $15. I won't even get started on the rest; they have everything!
The sizing is huge, too. I wear a 22 or 24!

Oh gosh, girls, please don't laugh at me, but reading through a few pages of this thread actually brought me to tears, even though the topic itself isn't necessarily meant to be tragic. I am honestly so glad this discussion exists because I know firsthand how incredibly frustrating it is when you're carrying extra weight and trying to find clothes that actually look modern and stylish instead of just "functional." It’s genuinely heartbreaking sometimes to see something absolutely stunning in a shop window and realize you can't even try it on because it simply won't fit. I know, I know—it’s not all about the clothes, shoes, and accessories, but let's be real, we're women, and those things matter to us. But maybe what matters even more is learning how to actually feel comfortable in our own skin. Back when I was over 220 pounds, my self-confidence was pretty much non-existent, and I used to think I could compensate for that by buying really expensive designer labels and high-end shoes, thinking it would somehow prove something to everyone else. It took me a long time to realize that a price tag doesn't fix how you feel inside. Now, even after losing about 65 pounds and fitting into a US size 8 or 10, I still have those moments where I find the most perfect pair of skinny jeans only to realize they still don't fit quite right, and it truly stings. In other countries, finding plus sizes seems a bit easier, but hey, at least here in the States, we are finally starting to see some improvements in sizing. Ugh, I guess I went on a bit of a tangent there...
*big girls, you are beautiful!👍

There's a KIK highway in Canada, and you'll find one in Austria too!

That shop is honestly trash. I walked into one in Des Moines 🤔 and just turned right back around. Anyone actually finding stuff there clearly has zero standards. I’d much rather hit up a flea market.

darkmaker94, don't be so high and mighty about it.
That little shop actually has some great stuff for kids. I mean, unless you think toddlers—who basically grow like weeds—should only be wearing designer labels (not to mention they're constantly rolling in mud, sand, and food stains, but whatever 😁).
If/when you actually deal with that, you'll get what I'm saying.

This thread is definitely for the "fuller" crowd—assuming we're talking adults here, so that’s my angle. 🙂

Yeah, my bad. I totally messed up and thought I was posting in the "Shopping in Canada" section...😛

I happened to stumble upon this thread quite by chance; I wasn’t entirely sure if any of you had come across this particular blog before.

You can find some truly exceptional combinations there, and for the most part, they lay out exactly where everything originates.

If you think the stuff from Dollar General is that terrible, then your standards are seriously through the roof!!!!

Of course, that's easy to say when you're buying Replay and other high-end brands.
Some people simply don't have the budget for those labels. Regardless of the topic, you're constantly bragging about what you picked up at Replay or wherever else.
I know you're a moderator, but give us a break. 😠

A farmers market is also a terrible place, isn't it? Shame on you.

So, I accidentally wandered into this boutique in town and found a massive pile of pants—tons of different styles, but they only went up to size 46. That said, depending on how you're built, you could probably rock a 46 if you're a bit slimmer than me, since I'm usually in a 48. Anyway, I ended up grabbing two pairs, one beige and one black. Paid $58 for each, which honestly feels pretty reasonable.

But man, looking at S. Oliver, those pants are insanely overpriced! Like, $167 for just linen and cotton blends? NO WAY!!!

If I could ask just one question: how on earth do you all manage to keep your pants from wearing thin between the thighs? I’ve got particularly heavy thighs, and my trousers just give up the ghost incredibly fast—especially my khakis.
Is there any actual, decent advice out there for preserving them a bit longer before they inevitably rip?

🤣 🤣 🤣

Well, if it's such a terrible place... 😬 I mean, goodness knows about the quality of stuff you find at those stalls, but let’s be honest—clothing styles intended for larger sizes usually don't sit nearly as well on a body, and frankly, they often don't even look particularly appealing when they're just hanging on a rack. 🤷

Personally, I don't have this obsession with Replay—nor do I have money to burn, for that matter—so I wasn't even looking to spend anything at that Kik store; the items I spotted right in front of the entrance were more than enough for me. 🤦 😢

As far as clothing goes, I actually quite like Gerry Weber—especially their jeans—even if the price tags aren't exactly friendly unless you catch them during a clearance sale.
At Peek & Cloppenburg, you can actually find some decent pieces if you're a size 16, maybe a 18 if you're lucky (brands like Gerry, Christian Berg, Jake's... oh, and there's that one brand, Marco Pecci, or Mario Pecci, whatever it is... it's nothing spectacular, really. And one more thing... gosh, I remember trying on these absolutely stunning jeans there, but I can't for the life of me recall the brand—I've never even heard of them before!).

When you're a big guy wearing a size 52 or 54, you can have all the love in the world and shop at the most expensive designer boutiques, but it doesn’t mean a damn thing because they never carry your size!!!!!!!!

Sorry, but you really shouldn't be coming at them like that. If they have the budget to shop at Replay, that’s their business and it has zero impact on you. For example, I don't have the extra cash to dress in Diesel or Replay all day, but even if I went to a place like Walmart, I wouldn't wear anything from there even if they handed it to me for free. There are plenty of amazing, stylish pieces out there for those of us on a budget—you just have to know where to look. And since we have threads specifically for "What did you buy today?", please explain to me why someone isn't allowed to be excited about their new purchase?

Seriously girls, there’s really no need to get worked up. I mean, who even is she? She’s only made five posts on this forum, and four of them were just spent attacking other people.

What I’m trying to say is you can find way better stuff out there that won't break the bank. Personally, I think H&M has much nicer selection than something like Walmart, and it's still cheap. 🙂
Some ladies on this board shop at Target and look amazing—sure, they might not be "curvier," but I bet they carry larger sizes there too.
I'm not sure about the price points at the Marina Rinaldi store, but from what I can see, they stock sizes 10 to 24, and the clothes actually look pretty cute. 🙂

I honestly can't stand it when people start throwing shade at someone else over stuff that has absolutely nothing to do with them😠

It’s stupid to get offended and argue over what someone else is wearing. Everyone has different tastes and different budgets.
All I’m trying to say is that I CANNOT buy designer brands because they don't carry my size, and that's the whole damn problem!
