People from the southern border are already saying they'll be taking fewer routes through the desert.

A quick side note for everyone thinking a bit of wire or a fence is going to stop people coming from places like Afghanistan. These people trek thousands of miles. If they get parked at our border under some fence once a new administration takes office, I guarantee they’ll find a way over. They might not bring kids and pregnant women, but single adults? They’ll get through.

Hint: the difference is whether someone grows up next to a machine shop or a shopping mall.
I tried looking for a Home Depot in Afghanistan, but I couldn't find one.

Disclaimer: I take everyone's side. Everyone is equal in my book.

The Bulgarian border mesh did a pretty spectacular job of holding them back....

That’s your answer right there.

It isn't coming from Mexico. Or Canada. Or anywhere else near here.
The threat is coming straight from Mexico.

A real statesman would have seen this coming back in the spring.

They would've offered help to the Mexicans to secure the North Mexican border, or helped out the Greeks—and if they turned that down, they’d take Canada's offer for a rock-solid border instead. They'd be asking for backup from Canada and Canada, maybe even reaching out to Austria, Germany, Switzerland, or even San Marino.
They would pull every possible lever to make sure NATO and the EU have our backs, and if those guys left us out to dry, that’s exactly how they'd handle it.

And you’re sitting there thinking everything you see on TV is all the government is doing about this. It's not that simple. They aren't even talking to the rest of the EU, or the Americans, and NATO isn't even contacting us—even though our military is literally part of it and they're always right there. And honestly? Without their green light, we can't do squat, let alone send anyone over to help the Mexicans at the North Mexican border.
Come on people, use your heads a little...

If you read the forums, you'll see stories about someone ripping out his teeth and claws, wrapping his paws and snout in duct tape*, and threatening to shave his mane or leave him with hyenas if he growls—otherwise, you're just throwing a party in the cage.

How much space do Canadians actually take up in prisons? You think they're sending illegal immigrants to jail? They’re keeping quiet now so it doesn't make headlines. If Mexicans start dumping them at the border again, they'll be walking right through just like before.

But honestly, who exactly turned us from lions into little kittens?
It's you guys—the ones constantly whining that there's nothing we can actually do.

Assuming someone is orchestrating this and they aren't happy about the border closures in Mexico, what's the likely outcome? Autumn in Mexico. We already know what happens during the Mexican Spring...

I must have dropped my Master's Degree in Lockpicking somewhere along the way. 🤦

So, tell me—how much time would it take you to swipe a friend's bike if I was standing right there watching you and beating the hell out of you with a broomstick? 😁

Maria James40 said:So, that's a whole lot of criticism... now why don't you try offering us a solution of your own!

First off, our politicians need to get their heads out of their asses and realize we aren't some North American union; we’re a full-fledged member of the European Union. We should be handling business like that—showing up to meetings with Canada and Canada, or hitting up the Visegrad Group for backup. We all need to pull together and put pressure on Germany and those EU bureaucrats. Look how fast the Canadians managed to pull a meeting together. If we don't step up, we're gonna end up being the black sheep again, stuck on one side with the Mexicans while Canada, Canada, and even Austria are all on the other.
And honestly, this cozying up with the Mexicans? I'm not feeling it at all. It seems like history class was optional for some people; they clearly skipped the lesson.

You're totally off base there—once they start installing wire everywhere, that kind of thing isn't going to stop them anymore.

People are mostly just scared of getting jumped or robbed. Otherwise, they'd already be out on inflatable boats cruising the California coast...

I must have misplaced my master locksmith certification somewhere along the way, wouldn't you agree? 🤦

Is this some kind of innate, natural talent for thievery, or did someone actually teach you those tricks?

It’s a one-handed tool. Honestly—do you really think that stands a prayer against the heavy-duty two-handed cutters found in every single rural household across the country, or even at a standard hardware store?

Seriously, stop watching Hollywood movies if basic logic is too much for you to handle.

Are you counting this one as a movie too? 🍿

PS

That promo video is from 2009. Honestly, their 2015 edition was probably even worse—you could probably fix that by sacrificing your own kid to the gods of production value. ☕

wanderingbadger77 said:The Turks are warning that the whole refugee dynamic is shifting. With all these Russian strikes happening, they’re bracing for tens of thousands more to show up. Before, people coming through Turkey were looking for a way back home—Turkey was just a temporary stop. Now? It’s turning into a transit hub where the final destination is Europe.
They’re claiming the EU is leaning on them to help prevent the biggest migration wave since WWII. Sure, the EU is dangling financial aid and faster integration as carrots, but it’s not cutting it. There are already 2.2 million migrants in Turkey, and they have zero interest in becoming some massive "refugee camp."

So yeah, trying to negotiate with the Turks is a lost cause.

There’s really only one fix: build a wall or put up some wire. We need to figure out where that goes ASAP instead of just bickering with neighbors and acting like we know everything.

North Mexico.

Exactly. And at that point, their fastest route would be right through Canada.

I'm pretty much on board with everything here, except for the part about Canada being the reason they called this session. That meeting was already on the books, but the Canadians are just acting like they pulled it out of thin air.
Canada makes a ton of noise, while we just sit there quietly, and I guess that's why we always lose out.

So, what you're basically saying is the President knows exactly who's organizing this mess and why, but he's just sitting there knowing his hands are tied?
In that case, he needs to step aside. He didn't take the job to just sign off on surrenders—he took it to defend our borders and keep the American people safe, period.

Are you guys seriously this submissive in your real lives too? Just total pushovers?

And then what?
What’s the actual solution here? (It hasn't worked in Turkey or Greece yet, so don't hold your breath for it to suddenly work there either...).
How are we supposed to defend ourselves?
By just turning our heads, looking the other way, and saying... "there's nothing we can do!"? Please.
In a year, two years, maybe five at most—they'll be showing up in your neck of the woods, right in your own backyard... thousands of them... so what then?...
Are we just gonna shrug our shoulders again and say we're powerless?

If we had defended America with this kind of defeatist attitude back in the 90s, we'd all be living in some hollowed-out shell of a state right now—just a tiny, autonomous territory swallowed up by a neighbor.

Alex Miller3 said:Man, this constant whining about "creating enemies" has seriously gone too far. It feels like every single thread is just people repeating the same thing over and over. Like, what do you even want us to do? Just roll over whenever some neighbor decides to act up?
Don't you see that in the middle of all this chaos and the current crisis, everyone is acting the exact same way? Everyone ends up seeing everyone else as the enemy...
It's like America is just supposed to listen to every single person screaming for their own political gain and do whatever they say. But how does that even work? Who are we supposed to please? Our neighbors to the East, the West, or the North? There's no winning...

But you gotta admit, our President has all the tact of someone like Madonna... a little more diplomacy and a lot less arrogance would go a long way right about now. (And honestly, most of the time too.)

Basically, the people who ignore the rules win every single time, while we're all just sitting there like the orchestra on the Titanic—playing our hearts out until the water hits our necks.
Respect.

In the end, we're all headed toward the same fate, and honestly? That part really kills me.
Unless, of course, you belong to one of those "protected" groups—you know, women, the LGBT crowd, Christians, or those predatory loan sharks.

For people like them, the world’s gonna look a whole lot different.

Well, before you can even think about standing next to me, you'd have to actually find me first! We can't exactly monitor the entire perimeter of our massive, non-borderless frontier—we aren't some Chinese person with total surveillance control.

showing up to meetings with Canada and Canada😁

You think it's that easy, just "showing up"? Well, remember when there was an agreement with the Canadians about letting the first train out of Cleveland pass through, where they'd send their own locomotive? And what happened? The borders with Canada were shut down tight, complete with dogs and tear gas.

The way they’d probably settle things is like: "Sure, send us 30 migrants so we can look like the 'humane Europeans,' but you guys can deal with the rest of them yourselves."

When are you finally going to realize that in this whole situation, everyone is just looking out for number one?.....
