Charles Ross3 said:We treated them so poorly that, honestly, it’s a miracle they didn't burn everything to the ground.

As soon as they arrived in the supposedly refined parts of Europe, those people—who were being beckoned by the lights of helicopters—just set fire to the entire refugee camp and then had the nerve to complain that nobody had even offered them a sip of water.

Hold up—slow down. This is just the appetizer. The real wave hasn't even hit yet.☕

Nearly 50,000 refugees from Greece are heading toward Western Europe—and America

DO WE HAVE A PLAN? Because of the offensive in Aleppo, 100,000 people are heading toward Europe, and Canadians are already thinking about building a fence!

Christian Anderson6 said:So, here we are—as members of the European Union, we’re basically complicit in this whole migrant smuggling operation, essentially illegally shipping people right back into the very same European Union we belong to.
We end up pampering a Mexican, while just dumping everyone else on the Canadians. 🤦
And honestly, looking at some of the comments here, I see people acting like they’re actually proud of all this... 🙂

The European Union just isn't built to handle an emergency like this right now.

The EU only really gives a damn about the economic interests of its "heavy hitters"—I mean, just look at how fast Zoran Milanović had to unblock those border crossings.

America is way too small and too weak to be the one getting crushed under the weight of this chaos.

Besides, for hundreds of years, we were out there defending Germany from Islam, basically serving as a military buffer zone while they sat back and lived it up.

Look, I'm not even talking about World War II or the Cold War here.

northerncyclist2 said:I mean, we’re just sending them back to where they originally came from (and Greece is part of the EU, ☕after all). Like, if they managed to sneak into Greece, why wouldn't they try to enter the US, or somewhere like Mexico, or even Germany?

I haven't really noticed Greece getting any major backlash for how they handle things.

And hey, if the Swabians aren't happy about it, they can always send their U-boats into the Aegean Sea to sink the boats if they feel like it.

Oh sure, because we definitely need more role models like the Greeks or the Mexicans. 🤦
Honestly, who actually cares if Greece is taking heat or not? Greece is just trying to host everyone because they want to live off the rest of Europe—basically wanting to borrow instead of contribute—which is exactly what the European Union won't let them do. Now, suddenly, they're acting tough. So, what, are we supposed to look at Greece as some kind of shining example and start acting exactly like them?

It’s like Little Merkel physically can't bring herself to say, "We can't take any more refugees," or even "You aren't welcome anymore"...
it’s like that scene in Liar Liar with Jim Carrey where he tries to tell a lie and his tongue just gets all tangled up...

but as time goes on, she’s probably going to have to bite her tongue and actually say it...

this woman has never shown any ability to learn or change her mind—look at what happened with Greece—so she'll end up learning it the hard way.

One individual—a single person—can snap... but what kind of political system are they running in Germany that they haven't forced this stubborn individual to resign months ago?!?

It appears she holds onto that Chancellor position even tighter than Otto von Bismarck did—and he was someone who frequently held back from various moves once he realized certain influential circles would deem them controversial. In the end, they actually managed to force him out...

And how exactly did they "break" Greece, when it seems she isn't even allowed to go there to try and negotiate anything?!? Even though she makes trips to Turkey.

Honestly, I’m a little slow on the uptake here, but I just don't get how you can call it a "success" to negotiate with someone who's basically just jerking you around instead of actually moving forward. Like, what's even the point? It's kind of like that old joke—"Let's get organized!" "Okay, I'll grab my cigarettes," says the guy who thinks he's a total player.

Setting up some kind of camp on some frozen wasteland while one guy just sits there maximizing nothing. We're talking power, restrooms, surveillance, parking... you could take over the space under the bleachers, the track, or just clear out everything around the stadium if you felt like it. The migrants would get a little downtime to relax, and the LA Rams would finally have some actual people in the stands. A total win-win... ☕

So, I’ve got this little project going on indoors—trying to tinker with some old-school tech, building a transistor radio or a tristate thingy, but whatever, that’s not even the point. Since this topic clearly gets people fired up, I’ll just put it on the nightly news at 10 PM on ABC. What I mean is, every single—and I mean *every* single—news story about refugees has that exact same segment... you know, the one about Abdulah studying medicine or Muharem being some IT genius. It’s been days, literally days, of the exact same template. I'm not saying those people don't exist, obviously, but a decent news outlet can't just hammer the same repetitive trope into our heads every single day. It's like North Korea in there. Personally, I gave up on the 10 PM news; I’d rather just flip to an independent station or something grassroots. But hey, if you have the patience for it, feel free to check it out yourself. It’s just the same thing over and over...

Our President would turn America into a total hotspot!
I really think we need to get our act together regarding border security. It feels like we're just letting things slide when we should be tightening things up...
What kind of talk is that about Frontex? Honestly, woman...
What she’s describing is the textbook definition of a hotspot...
The hotspot strategy...
The European Asylum Support Office (EASO) and the EU Border agency...
The agency (Frontex) and the European Union Police Cooperation Agency (Europol)...
And Eurojust, along with the rest of the European Union's judicial framework, is going to get to work.
Currently on the ground working alongside officials from the frontline Member state...
The state should provide assistance... ...meet their legal requirements as mandated by European Union law and...
We need to move fast on identifying, registering, and fingerprinting all incoming migrants immediately.
.

We absolutely have to prevent this at all costs! We can't allow foreign agencies to take their sweet time identifying and registering migrants, only to dump them back on us whenever they feel like it, all while massive groups continue to pile up at our borders...
This is just absolutely terrifying...

That wouldn't be terrifying at all. If they want them back, let them have them. And honestly, can't we just send them right back to where they came from too?

What's actually terrifying is what we're doing right now.

Dana Kern5 said:If you could finally provide us with a rational, logical explanation after your 495 posts explaining why, at the end of the day, any European nation is obligated to accept any immigrants, then you wouldn't need to drink those endless hectoliters of coffee, and we’d all be spared from your trolling.

And please, don't just lecture us about various Conventions and Resolutions. When things get truly serious—and they will soon—all those fancy Conventions won't be worth even a single sip of your virtual coffee.

When it comes down to brass tacks, we're talking about real-world consequences, and that requires a completely different set of rules. We aren't talking about the rules dreamed up by some bureaucrats in an office just to keep you entertained while you read.

Officially, yes, they are obligated because they signed paperwork legally committing them to accept a specific number of immigrants, specifically asylum seekers and refugees. ☕

The issue, again, is that the agreement was never finalized, thanks to the sheer irresponsibility of certain European Union nations who couldn't be bothered for reasons unknown to us. ☕ That’s why every country is now making up its own rules while simultaneously ignoring its neighbors. ☕

The Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz (Austrian People's Party) told radio station Ö1 today that fences are actually doing their job just fine.

Hardly a turning point. Honestly, I’m seeing zero change here. Maybe they tweaked the tone of the news reports slightly, but that’s about it. No real shift happening. 🐔

You think what we're doing now is terrifying, but somehow it's perfectly fine if they send them back to us and we just repeat the whole process in reverse.

Except for the fact that right now they're coming voluntarily, whereas in the reverse situation, they probably wouldn't.

I guess I have to ask: what kind of logic is that? Where is the consistency?

So becoming a hotspot wouldn't be "that bad"? Isn't that exactly what we are trying to avoid at all costs?
Are you suggesting we just call in Frontex—exactly like our President suggests—to help us patrol our borders and register migrants? Just a casual, thorough process handling maybe ten people a day? While everyone else waits patiently to enter America or sits in some camp somewhere within the States? And you say this after I gave you a definition of a hotspot that clearly shows this is leading us straight toward one. I honestly don't know what to say to that. Other than the fact that your opinion (and the President's, for that matter) runs completely contrary to AMERICAN NATIONAL INTERESTS. Unless, of course, you think the American national interest is to become a massive collection center for migrants.

Seehofer has already squeezed her in one way or another.

Maybe Merkel is being heavily blackmailed by something—everyone forgot about that NSA scandal—or maybe she's just doing this for ideological reasons. There really isn't a third option.

There’s this whole old story, right? Like, back when we were under the Austro-Canadian Empire, we actually respected the government, whereas those folks from the mountains always saw the state as the enemy. Well, once they decided to actually become a country themselves, there was a bit of a little confusion, I guess. Personally, I feel like I'm smarter than like 60% of the people in this beautiful country, so obviously, I'm not gonna starve. If this situation is what I basically spent my whole life fighting for... yeah, it definitely isn't. And hey, the kids look pretty great for traveling abroad... they really do. All in all, it's a super cool situation that's unfolding, but honestly, it doesn't matter much to anyone. Just the ideal consumer for GMOs... I mean, if a guy like me was raised in some lab, I'd have to give the lab props!

I’ve been thinking... instead of relying on trains, why not just rent out bicycles near the Monastery? It would be a massive boost for Limex, too. There might even be some wealthy kids from families like the Ferraris looking for a way to get around... or perhaps some local entrepreneurs could turn it into a real business venture...

She’s definitely being played, honestly. You just can't hold onto those kinds of ideologies when they actually run headfirst into the messy reality of how things work.
