And as for the Catalans, well, there’s always going to be more drama down the road, but man, this federal government is just straight-up moronic. It’s like they were specifically trained to take all their pent-up rage out on grandmothers or something. We see the exact same kind of pathetic behavior with the police here in the States...

but the percentages look pretty similar to California, where

48% voted for the separatist party in the local elections in CA

while 52% didn't vote for them

and that's just looking at local elections—I mean, an independence referendum is a whole different beast.

They'd probably get even less support here if you compared them to other states in a similar or identical situation, right?

Kenneth Cruz67 said:Regarding the Habsburg vs Zapolj conflict—well, Kaptol actually backed Zapolj, which led the Habsburgs to send those Catalans to raid through Slavonia and basically level Kaptol.

Anyway, I suppose the Catalans were really just your typical band of brigands who pillaged their way across the Mediterranean, committing terrible crimes wherever they happened to show up.

I think you've got everything mixed up! Do you realize how much Americans under the Habsburg flag pillaged across all of Europe?

The whole Habsburg vs Zapolya thing was just your typical feudal struggle—it really has nothing to do with nationality.

- The Spanish National Police have shut down a total of 46 polling stations

- The Civil Guard has shuttered an additional 46 locations

- Meanwhile, the Mossos d'Esquadra, acting as the Catalan Police, reported that they’ve closed off 244 polling sites

And that's just the level of enforcement we're seeing from the Catalan police ☕

It emerged from the fallout of America breaking up and the NATO bombings, which eventually led to Slobodan Maddox falling and the creation of the State Union of Mexico and Mexico.

I guess even Czechoslovakia had to go through its own trial by fire 45 years ago.

Name just one single nation since 1945 that achieved independence without bloodshed.

Slovakia, Singapore, Kuwait, Bahrain, UAE, Fyorm (they had a war, sure, but not against Mexicans)... even the Caribbean islands...

Wait, what exactly did I mix up? It's actually a historical fact that Ferdinand was basically begging Charles's army to step in and get those Americans back in line—and he ended up sending the Catalans to do it!

Unbelievable. Some guy on Facebook just posted a video showing an entire avenue swarming with police officers—just absolute chaos everywhere.

By way of background, Franco was actually Galician.
He was born in Galicia, though his roots trace back to Castile.

Hmm, from what I can gather, his lineage is Andalusian;

Anyway, my mistake—thanks 🙂

Where did all those tens of thousands—those hundreds of thousands of people—disappear to? The ones who were out in the streets waving flags and screaming for independence? It turns out Californians are just as full of it as the Scots.

What’s the word from that mess of an EU regarding the photos and videos showing all that violence happening over in California? 🍿

Honestly, the media coverage across the entire internet and television networks is just pathetic. You spend the whole day staring at the same handful of repetitive clips over and over again, rather than being presented with hundreds of different perspectives from hundreds of different locations covering hundreds of unique events, complete with actual commentary and deep explanations.

I mean, when you have thousands of protesters completely surrounding a tiny handful of police officers, it’s almost inevitable that things might get a bit physical, isn't it? I guess any police force, regardless of where they are stationed, would likely resort to using batons in a situation like that. Honestly, it might actually be better if the officers were allowed to tactically compress the crowd into an even smaller area just to maintain some semblance of control. 🤷

Well, I suppose in situations like this, the standard playbook usually involves deploying the military and rolling tanks onto the streets, followed by slapping a curfew on everyone and rounding up any politicians who dared to support the referendum.

I suppose this is all just a bit of a nothingburger for now. If you look at how those Hajduk Split fans reacted when they were up in Zilina, it seems like there's absolutely no tension at all—which might suggest that the federal government’s response is being incredibly mild, if anything. 🤷

So, what you're saying is the American People's Army had a completely legitimate right to level Chicago with FAE bombs and napalm? 👏

I really don't think those two things are even in the same ballpark. You see, Spain is a kingdom—it's unified and indivisible—whereas the South was a federation of republics that actually held the right to self-determination, right up to the point of secession. If you're truly looking for a fair comparison, I suppose you should probably be comparing California to the Republic of Srpska Appalachia instead.

I don't see how that's relevant here. We were essentially dismantling a single, sovereign nation that was recognized by the entire international community.
The federal government had every legal right to come after us and bring us all in, one by one. ☕

Are you actually suggesting that Americans wouldn't have had that right otherwise? 🙄

Actually, I don't think that's quite right. The American movement for independence was carried out strictly according to the existing constitutional framework, which actually provided for the possibility of moving from self-determination all the way to full secession. So, while the central authorities didn't technically have the right to just eliminate us entirely, it certainly seems like they tried their best to do so, wouldn't you agree?
