I felt like I had to get this going.
Lay it all out for me: give me your best arguments
FOR and AGAINST this "music" (if you can even call it that, but hey...)!

Personally, I’m really just into that dark electro sound, like stuff from Diary of Dreams, Front Line Assembly, Hocico, or Yelworc... and then there's the industrial side of things, specifically Skinny Puppy and that kind of vibe.

(where do I even begin)

-so, about how electronic stuff repeats the same rhythm and melody over and over—look, I dig Daft Punk and Air, and honestly, that constant repetitive pulsing is exactly what pushes me away from metal or rock/you probably heard some Queens of the Stone Age tracks—those songs perfectly capture what I mean...
-have you ever actually heard an electric guitar?
-it's hard for rock bands—yeah, sure—but does it really matter how much someone shredded on a guitar whether I listen to them or not? (like, is a guitarist hopping on one leg—me, for example—better than someone standing on two feet—like your buddy Clapton—just because it's harder?)
-I think music is all about the IDEA and the CREATIVITY, and you can express those in a million ways—why limit them?
-electronic music actually has way more possibilities than rock; then again, rock has its own kind of grit

-of course I'm FOR ELECTRONIC MUSIC, just like I'm for rock, punk, HC, pop... anything where I feel some energy, some idea, some vibe, some beauty, you know? (I know you get it)
-but hey, you can keep listening to those rock bands that just loop the same thing and throw in a solo (which rocks, I guess) and then just loop the same thing again and throw in another solo:2up: 😈, etc., etc...

here's a recommendation that might actually change your mind:
Air - "Don't Be Light" - total madness, and it even has a solo😁

Yeah... when you listen to QOTSA... especially "Millionaire"... it’s basically the same damn riff from start to finish. 🙄

Personally, I've never really been an electronica guy, though I don't have anything against it... everyone should just listen to whatever they want, for crying out loud! 😁

Fine, go ahead and argue about electronic music, but I laid my cards on the table right in the first post!!! And BTW, I actually wanted to sit back and listen to arguments defending this stuff that I personally see nothing in. Maybe then I'll finally get why so many people are obsessed with it! My intentions were (mostly) decent, even if I admit I wanted to just watch how people spit on 😳 , but now I feel a bit bad, even if my opinion on the genre hasn't changed yet!!!

I was actually talking about something like this with my guitarist a few days ago! I mentioned that Kurt Cobain had a simple guitar style, and he shot back: "What's better? Those metal guys who struggle through solos, kill themselves on guitars, and sound like crap, or Kurt, who says everything briefly and clearly and sounds way better (to us) than some Maiden guitarist (who I was talking about)..."! He's totally right! If that's what you meant... I agree. But I also agree if you meant it's not about the effort put in, but about the actual result!

bottom line—electronic music is just as legit and carries just as much weight as any other genre. It's got soul. You can dance to it, hum along, zone out, feel pure joy, or get absolutely pissed off (go listen to Atari Teenage Riot - Revolution Action if you want to feel the rage). You can be depressed, wired, sleepy, whatever... You can vacuum the house, whip up some dinner, smoke a cigarette, and knock back a Red Bull mixed with vodka while headbanging to the rhythm—there's nothing wrong with that. I KNOW—YOU WERE ALL WRONG. But hey, don't come looking for my house or try to jump me over this, alright? Chill out, guys...

That’s true (well, at least the first part)... I was thinking about those high-energy tracks you blast when some tuned-up Chevy Impala flies past you on the highway. I'm talking about the kind of music you can actually live your life to—stuff you can dance to, hum along to, or use to fuel a daydream. It can make you feel happy, or it can fuel a total meltdown (go listen to Atari Teenage Riot - Revolution Action if you want to feel pure revolt). You could be vacuuming the house, cooking dinner, or just sitting there with a cigarette and a Red Bull spiked with vodka, nodding your head to the beat (if that's even a thing—I haven't tried it, but I'll take your word for it). Anyway...
Let's say I actually got everything I ever wanted...
