Dealing with drug addiction in Health ·
tinitrus said:Nice thread :-)! I guess a few years back here in the States, there was this huge debate between people who thought the answer lay in community programs versus those pushing for methadone therapy along with needle exchange programs... (those other folks were basically arguing that it’s better to just minimize the damage for addicts). Personally, I lean toward the latter group. It seems more logical to give an addict clean supplies to protect them from things like Hepatitis or HIV, and then—if they actually decide to get clean—move toward methadone treatment.

Honestly, harm reduction works pretty well.
👍
They do it right here in the US too.
Glad someone's actually thinking about this; instead of being one of those people asking why we’d even bother giving them stuff to use.🙂

Big Mama says:

I guess everyone deserves a shot, but just one. After that... they're done with me.

Wow, how generous.
Good luck with those repeat offenders though, I bet they'll find plenty of ways to try their luck again under different guises.

here I am again...
yeah.. I was..
yeah.. I'm good..
and yeah.. I'm changing things up, moving to NYC, actually heading there next week to hunt for an apartment and a job🙂

🙂
nice

good luck
Lawrence Robinson11 said:whatever, there's not much else to say really.

glad you finally caught on
😲

took you long enough, I guess
☕
Lawrence Robinson11 said:seriously though, I actually feel bad for you if I’m just some failed med student, because sooner or later, you're gonna be stuck needing people like me.
anyway, enjoy being healthy while it lasts.

yeah, right. back at ya.
guess you're also stuck depending on folks just like yourself.😛
Lawrence Robinson11 said:yeah, basically you just gotta cough up a mountain of cash to land a job or a residency, so thank god my lack of communication skills won't get in the way...
is that a threat?
i don't see where there's a threat, i was just stating a fact.
lucky for you the healthcare situation is so great that you swap doctors out like socks... i don't get what the issue is.. why would anyone even bother seeing shitty, arrogant doctors in the first place?

i didn't even say that, about swapping doctors constantly. i mean, i switch if i'm not happy with them.
but lucky for me, i rarely run into people with that much ego, arrogance, and pure stupidity, so maybe for you i'm not some future specialist with a fat wallet, but just some failed med student.😎
Lawrence Robinson11 said:Man, you better hope that's not true, because one day you're gonna realize you actually need a bunch of people like me around.

🤣
so you really think you're gonna find a job if you don't even have basic communication skills?
lol, thank god being able to fix a fax machine isn't enough to get you hired on the spot.

and what's with the threat?
we don't depend on anyone, especially not you or whatever crowd you run with.
if I don't like my doctor, I just find a new one.😈
Lawrence Robinson11 said:Right, and who else deserves the exact same title? A Bachelor’s in Engineering? I don't know, maybe once he finishes his PhD he can jump ahead of me in line at Chase Bank.

I didn't say that, but I definitely wasn't the one saying we shouldn't even argue about it...

And yeah, studying for six years is way harder than doing four. I guess it's just not clicking for you guys somehow.

4 + 2 = 6 ...

Architecture is nine semesters, not eight.😎

If you're gonna try so hard to be right, maybe actually look something up first.
Lawrence Robinson11 said:I never actually said it was way harder😕

I don't even know if I should say "don't know" or "dunno"😬 ???

I mean, come on, you've probably read like a thousand pages by now, surely you've seen how to spell that properly
😲

You actually wrote it much worse; plus, this is just your first post in this thread👍
Lawrence Robinson11 said:we'll see if you're still talking like this when you need a checkup or if you're just gonna bring me a coffee instead.🙄
and, I don't know what would be so arrogant about saying it's harder to study for six years versus four and a half at MIT.
yeah, truth can be pretty arrogant sometimes.

of course it's harder.

but it's not nearly as much harder as you're making it out to be.

don't talk to me about arrogance; I'd rather you just learn how to distinguish between things when you're writing referrals, I don't know.😁

edit; looks like I'm not even allowed to give you any grief anymore.🤣
Quick question about credit cards in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
Hey everyone, I could really use some help here.
Basically, I’m getting rid of my Diners Club because I can't get anything done with their online shopping, and since I'm not really a fan of Amex, I'm just stuck choosing between a Visa and a Mastercard.

I did a little digging and saw that Visa is accepted at about 29 million locations, while Mastercard is at 32 million.
😲

I don't really know what else to look for, so if any of you guys actually use one of these two, let me know if you like them or if they're pretty much the same thing.
Thanks, I guess.

Gregory Turner71 said:I don't know... my skin and I just don't really get along.😢

I figured out I can pretty much adjust my routine so my skin doesn't freak out too much, and I don't end up smelling like a swamp either, so I guess those super expensive products aren't even necessary.

Well, they aren't even that pricey, they're just unscented and made for sensitive skin.

$4 isn't actually a lot, I think that's about what that Dr. Wolf cleanser costs.

Frank Alvarez8 said:Sure, you might end up looking fit like MacGregor, but if you stick to that same crappy diet after finishing the HL program, you're gonna be short on muscle and even shorter on cash.😁

Plus—you’ll probably get that itch to aggressively push your products on everyone you meet.

Gregory Turner71 said:So I clearly have super problematic skin😢

lol, yeah, I highly doubt your skin is any weirder than mine.
ever tried stuff from CeraVe or whatever?
there's like so many options at the drugstore now, just ask for some samples if you haven't already.

duh, obviously it isn't bad
like, say you spend a day hanging out in the city.
it’s totally normal if only your junk and armpits get dirty😛

Megan Reed said:I remember having stitches that I wasn't even allowed to touch, so I just had to clumsily wipe myself down with a wet washcloth, basically just counting down the days until I could finally take a real shower.

That's pretty brutal, right?

Even though I was being super careful around the stitches, I was still just dying to get properly cleaned up!😁

Gregory Turner71 said:I’m just saying what I know from dealing with my own skin issues and what my doctor told me... scrubbing your whole body with soap every single day? Probably not a great move.

Scrubbing hard and actually washing isn't even the same thing.
Just use some super mild soap and you'll be fine, I guess.

I’m pulling over 10 hours of sleep
it’s tough staying sedentary when you’ve got a super high-energy dog
breakfast happens whenever I actually get around to it
not really a water drinker
I eat three times a day (well, at least I try not to dip below that)
zero snacking between meals
getting my fruit and veggies in every single day
got a few extra pounds hanging on that just won't budge
😳
stress is pretty much unavoidable, maybe during my commute
occasionally smoke a Marlboro😳
drinking every day, and honestly, I don't plan on stopping

the photo is decent (even if it's just mussels)
