Man, if it were as easy as changing a lightbulb, we'd be set by now...
Scientists have spent decades trying to crack the code on how different diseases actually work. You might forget (or maybe you just didn't know!) that it was only about 50 years ago that we finally mapped out DNA structure, and only after that did we realize certain segments are genes and so on...
Science has come a long way since then, but unfortunately, not quite far enough to fix faulty genes yet. Sadly...
I've been dealing with psoriasis for ten years now, and over that time, I've read basically everything under the sun about it. But I only recently found the simplest way to explain it to people who ask what it actually is: It’s basically a glitchy gene responsible for skin renewal. A healthy person replaces their skin every 28 days, but someone with psoriasis does it every 3 to 4 days. Because the
old layers of skin don't get a chance to shed fast enough, they just pile up and create those flakes ☕
It's pretty straightforward 😳
I truly believe that whoever finally deciphers this disease and fixes that genetic defect will win a Nobel prize 🙏
In the meantime, I'll just be doing what all of you are—doing my best with the tools I've got 😁
At least we can all count on having strong immune systems! 🤣 🤣 🤣
