The Life and Death of Peter Sellers in Movies ·
I mean, you’re bound to stumble upon some decent stuff eventually... though it’s rarely top-tier...

I just can't wrap my head around why they're actually so good... maybe they have incredibly high standards at those academies of theirs, or who knows, maybe the secret is just obsessively studying Shakespeare

I mean, it feels like all those big-name Broadway actors—you know, the ones from that whole elite theater circle—are just on a completely different level than your average working actor... and that's just how it is, I guess... 👍

I mean, I always thought he was pretty good...

but after seeing this movie, I guess I’m looking at him in a whole different light.

Man, you know he absolutely nailed it...

I honestly couldn't believe it. Rush did such a fantastic job, I mean, seriously, he deserves all the 😁 😁

If there’s any reason to watch this movie, it’s probably just those few minutes where Sellers (well, Rush) first starts "testing out" the Clouseau character on innocent bystanders. It's hysterical 👍 For a second there, I actually forgot I was watching a movie about Sellers and felt like I was just watching Sellers himself...

I kind of feel like Steve Martin is going to have an even tougher time stepping into Sellers's shoes in that upcoming Panther remake, mostly because of this film—since, by all accounts, Rush should have been the one getting the part.👍

the movie is just fantastic 👍

I've always been a huge fan of Sellers, but I honestly had no idea he was quite this much of a "character," I guess. I always kind of pictured him being this super mature, composed guy in real life. Anyway, the direction and the whole concept are great, but the real standout for me has to be Geoffrey Rush. He captures some of those Sellers characters so perfectly that it actually felt a little eerie at times 🙏 🙏 🙏 I don't think I've ever seen an actor mirror a real person quite like that, maybe similar to how Stone's The Doors was handled. But yeah, the movie is definitely worth a watch, especially if you're a big film buff. You get to see the origins of the Pink Panther and how Peter Sellers managed to outsmart Stanley Kubrick (you really have to hand it to him on that one), plus there's some cool behind-the-scenes stuff from Dr. Strangelove.

If I had to nitpick, maybe the last 20 minutes or so feel a bit dragged out, like it loses its focus a little, but it's nothing major. The movie is great, and that soundtrack is just lovely 👍

😁 😁

but we love you just the way you are... 🙂

anyway, back to the topic:

from everything I've gathered so far, the movie looks pretty rough to me, so I think I'll just wait until it hits Blu-ray😛

I mean, if you took away Elizabeth Shue's cleavage, 😍 this movie would honestly just be total garbage. 🤮

I mean, maybe it's because we aren't seeing anything too crazy in water that's basically flowing toward the ceiling? 😕

This movie is just masterfully awful... I barely managed to stay awake until the credits rolled... congrats to the director though, Hideo actually pulled off A terrible movie but it's on stage 👍 👍

But man, that scene with the deer 😂 😂... I was literally laughing my head off... what's next on the menu? Psychopathic squirrels... angry beavers... 🤣

I mean, it's pretty well done, there are maybe three or four songs...

It's kind of fast-paced and isn't a true musical, more like a semi-musical, some sort of hybrid, I guess

Just go see it, honestly 😁

Just watched it, and honestly, I thought it was pretty great.

As soon as I saw the snow at the start, I just knew the movie was going to be good. I mean, Tim Burton + fluffy little snowflakes... that’s pretty much a winning combination, I guess. 😁Honestly, everything about the movie feels pretty great. You’ve got Elfman's score—which, I guess, kind of brings back those old Batman vibes—and then there's the set design, Burton's wild directing style, and that whole twisted script. Ever since I watched Return of Batman, I found myself wondering when Tim would finally dive into a musical. That surreal, playful energy just seems to fit him perfectly, I mean, this is probably the closest he's ever come to the genre, and he really nailed it.

I guess Johnny Depp's acting always kind of reminded me of how Carrey used to imitate Andy Kaufman—you know, like that whole vibe with the character Latko. I was actually wondering myself what it would’ve been like if they had gone with him for the lead role instead. Maybe that dark, morbid humor would have landed a bit better with Carrey's facial expressions, or maybe I don't know, maybe I just still have Count Olaf stuck in my head. 😁 )

PS

Christopher Lee was just legendary in that movie. I guess he kind of reminded me of Vincent Price—though maybe that was actually intentional on his part? Just a thought.

Plus, I guess the Wonka character feels pretty morbid because of Depp—it's got a bit of a Michael Jackson vibe to it, maybe 😁 .

Well, if you didn't fall asleep during the movie, then it must actually be good 👍
.

I can't wait to finally see it 😎
