First off, this topic is just way too broad. And honestly, it started out more like a list, which we have plenty of already. If the OP really wants to get a discussion going like this, I guess they should try opening a new thread, but maybe this time actually explain and justify why they think someone is overrated.

The media pretty much spilled everything already.

I ended up putting this on the other day just because I was bored. And honestly? I have to say, the animation really caught me off guard in a good way. There’s way more going on under the hood than what you see at first glance; the whole story feels pretty postmodern, and the way it handles deconstruction actually reminds me a bit of Alan Moore. 🙂 I mean, obviously, on the surface, it looks like your typical show about the Ninja Turtles. So, I guess it works just as well for kids as it does for older fans. Really solid stuff.

Pinned this as the main topic for the duration of the game run.

As of right now, there isn't really any word on who might direct this thing or who the cast could be... I mean, nobody is even being mentioned as a potential choice yet. It's just sitting in "development" at the moment, and I guess the only solid bit of info we actually have is that they're aiming to have it finished by 2013.

I don't know, feels like there's just too little here to really have a whole discussion in its own thread.

Until we get something a bit more concrete—locking this.
Knight & Day (2010) in Movies ·
It's a pretty solid action flick, I guess. The way it handles the John Holmes stuff is actually better than how they did it in Salt. There are a few quite fun, maybe even almost postmodernist writing choices in there, plus some action sequences that were just phenomenally directed.

Alright, I'm not going to close it down, but I think I'll unpin it from the top topic since it probably doesn't need to stay right up there anymore.

I'm gonna bump this up to the top topic for just a little bit, I guess.
Anyone seen Hesher (2010)? in Movies ·
I can totally see Lars Ulrich rounding up a whole army of lawyers just to squeeze every last cent out of them. 😁 They're pretty much screwed. Unless, I don't know, they're actually producing the music for them.
Richard Wilson4 said:I remember watching this show about a priest detective when I was just a kid. Total tangent, I know, but does anyone remember what it was called?

Maybe you mean Cadfael. I used to love watching that when I was little. He was a monk, too.

Unless you're thinking of Father Brown, though that doesn't really fit the whole medieval vibe.

As for the main topic... hmm, maybe Hamlet? You've got ghosts, betrayals, murders, all kinds of scheming. It's basically a classic medieval thriller, I guess. 😁

You can't just start a thread like this. This is an American forum, after all. Lock 'n' load.

Until that box is opened, the cat is effectively both alive and dead because both states are equally probable. Only after the observer opens the box does the system settle into one state—and the observer's action is what actually determines if the cat is alive or dead.
I think the writer wanted to highlight that paradox, just like how Judah talks about it early in the film: "How can something be both alive and dead at the same time?" To me, that seems like one of the movie's core themes.

Look, we might not agree on how he pulled it off in the end, but hey, to each their own, right?👍

Well, if that's the case, I guess it might have been better if they just used Pinocchio as the analogy instead.😉

Carl Flores28 said:What exactly did the writer get wrong about Schrödinger's cat?

Update: How can anyone even call this an action movie? Everything after his clash with Forrest is all in his head. All that action, the romance, all of it... he's just imagining it. It's his mental escape from a world where he was stuck between being alive and dead.

The whole Schrödinger thing is really just saying that the observer's presence changes the outcome. It’s not like there’s some mystical cat that’s somehow both dead and alive at once.

I mean, I get why they wanted to use that metaphor. But it feels a bit arrogant to twist the science just to force an emotional effect.

And honestly, this is the worst part. That trope where a character realizes it was all just a dream is probably the biggest cliché in cinema history. I guess if you're going to use it, you really need a damn good reason to justify it.

Besides, I pretty much saw the ending coming during that early scene where Forrest mentions Judah and that device used to create dreams. It felt like they were trying way too hard to manufacture that retrospective "aha!" moment, but it was kind of pathetic... I remember thinking, "Please, please don't let this end up being a dream sequence."

But yeah, I guess my prayers went unanswered. 😢

Anthony Smith3 said:I didn't really see it as an action movie anyway, since there's barely any action... it's more like a thriller trying to make a point about the commercialization of healthcare and how much society relies on consultations. Sure... I'll admit the main point gets lost along the way and the movie has its flaws, including a pretty forced romance, but overall, I'm not exactly disappointed...

See, look, that scene where two characters fall into the belly of the ship and just slaughter about 20 other people? That kind of thing only works in a space action flick. But you're right, the movie jumps from that action vibe into some quasi-philosophical territory, then into surrealism, and so on. And I think that's the biggest issue. They just didn't know which genre they wanted to stay in, I guess.

Personally, my favorite part was when the characters were hooking up at the end while scanning their organs. But, man, it's so incompatible with everything else in the movie that it actually made it worse.

If this had been directed by Cronenberg (or maybe Lynch), and if they had used that final scene to drive the story home, we’d be looking at a masterpiece of the decade.

The way it is now? Just erase & rewind.

Anthony Smith3 said:You're exaggerating a little... but hey, maybe you're right, since if I recall, you actually loved The Wolf Man, which I thought was just mediocre at best...

I don't know, The Wolf Man felt like a genuine gothic horror and checked all the boxes for that genre, whereas this one seems like it’s trying to be some dystopian chase movie, but it lacks quality action, it doesn't have that dystopian vibe, and there isn't even an interesting futuristic vision... everything is just hinted at, like a pile of half-baked ideas thrown together. It feels messy, kind of rushed, with characters that feel small-minded and a script that just feels uninspired... I mean, what can I even say when the peak of screenwriting brilliance is a line like, "anyone can dance a horizontal mambo" or something like that. Honestly.

Or that metaphor involving Schrödinger's cat, which the writer clearly doesn't get—it was actually kind of awkward to watch. I mean, would it have been that hard to just Google it a little before writing the script? Man, what a mess.

Bad, bad, bad. The movie kicks off feeling like some weird Python's sketch about volunteer liver donors, but then it somehow morphs into something like Brazil. If you just look at it from a distance, you might think it’s actually perfect. But honestly? It totally misses the mark. It’s confusing, pretentious, boring, half-baked, unmotivated, uninspired... did I mention it was boring? And if you believe what people are saying online, the whole thing is basically an open-and-shut case of plagiarism.

Avoid it like the plague—better yet, cordon it off with crime scene tape and wrap it up in a shroud.
Yesterday was honestly such a vibe. 😳

Dubioza was great, though I felt a little out of the loop since I don't really know their stuff that well.

Molly—well, you know how it is, kind of like taking a leak in the ocean; you just know it’s gonna be fine, even if you accidentally end up right in the middle of everyone's path. 😳

Lipsi was a total surprise discovery. 😍

The Kobasica bun with mustard hit the spot, too. 😳

Rocked some recycled bracelets.

Managed to squeeze in about five minutes of much-needed social interaction. +

Cleaned my sneakers with a minimal amount of spit and some napkins, so they're actually wearable again today. +

Overall, I'm pretty happy with how it went, I guess.
Yesterday's lineup was kind of a letdown, honestly 😢.

I was listening to Morcheeb, or maybe Audio Bullys, or whatever else they played, and those cheers from the crowd... man. Those guys were a mess. I can barely even remember Morcheeb, and honestly, the only decent part about Audio Bullys was those little interludes they played between sets. That was about it.

Billy Idol looked pretty rough, too. It felt like he was desperately trying to stretch his DNA just to convince us we were still living in the 80s. He didn't quite pull it off, though. I sort of felt like I was at some random rock show held at a local Fire Station. 😢

Maybe Flogging Molly will actually be good today.

Olivia Alvarez said:What an absolute disaster of a movie. Honestly, it’s been ages since I’ve sat through something this bad—just uninspired, disinterested acting, a plot that feels totally disjointed and rushed, terrible music, and just way too much melodrama everywhere... A complete train wreck.

Wow, I actually had the complete opposite experience. 😁

I mean, I thought the acting was solid, the plot was pretty straightforward and direct, and the soundtrack was actually kind of cool—it sort of makes up for the lack of epic scale you'd expect from a bigger budget. No heavy-handed melodrama, just decent directing.

I really liked the world they built, the way everything came together, and the story itself was decent. Plus, there are a few scenes toward the end that horror fans might actually enjoy.

If I had to describe it, maybe it’s like a mashup of The Matrix and I Am Legend. It feels like a bit of a budget version of those, but I guess that works out okay, since they didn't try to overdo it with stuff they couldn't afford.
