Enki Bilal's Immortal (Immortel) in Movies ·
I’ve honestly never been the type of person who feels the need to walk out of a movie theater while something is still playing*, at least not until I sat through 😠

*unless, you know, if it really makes you have to run for a bathroom break 😉

Melissa Moore32 said:Honestly, I don't find the movie funny at all, and I'm pretty sure most people feel the same way.

I mean, sure, there are some absurd moments that might get a laugh, but probably just because they're so weird. It's really not a comedy.

yeah, that's how I saw it too, I guess

this whole thing is just twisted or... unknown... just plain weird, I suppose

it's campy, it's a joke, maybe even kind of trashy

basically anything except a standard genre flick

Melissa Moore32 said:Someone was telling me once—I think unknown was there too—about how RHPS is actually just an example of a low-budget musical or something like that....

hmmm... but RHPS *is* a low-budget musical, so your point feels like it's trying to say something else entirely, maybe?😁

restlessowl52 said:The movie is just incredible if you catch it in a theater where the audience actually participates 🙏 🙏 🙏 I think I've already gone through that whole wild experience at a cinema a few times now along with everyone else 👍 👍 👍 🤣

And yeah, I've heard that watching a movie in a theater can be one of those totally out-of-body experiences😁

It's all chaos, stuff flying everywhere, people shouting over the dialogue

Definitely on my bucket list

I mean, I guess I’m just bowing down to the best player out there... honestly, Blade Trilogy is pretty garbage anyway, so I probably shouldn't even bother commenting. 😛

that music from the movie just gets stuck in your head. I've been humming it since this morning, I guess.
😁

exactly that👍

casualotter21 said:The movie's funny, but maybe not *that* much. The Musica is cool, though, especially that title track which is pretty easy to belt out while singing.

yeah, the movie wasn't really that funny to me either, but that music 😍 and the main theme, which I think is totally cool too,

if Science Fiction has its own anthem, then it's definitely Science Fiction Double Feature 👏

Jason Chavez32 said:just so I can switch to a flat-rate plan and download it right then and there

that's actually how I ended up getting it too😁

NB: Science Fiction Double Feature

Subhuman said:By the way, that logo is actually a symbol for the god Kronos. I think the whole idea originally came from their first manager.🙂

oh wow!! 👍

And it’s tucked away on every single album cover, too, so I guess you can only really spot it if you know what secret you're looking for 😁

though I don't really think Pearlman had anything to do with coming up with it 🤔

it was probably just some unknown struggling artist who whipped up that very first cover for the Blue Öyster Cult album... kind of one of those "pure luck" stories, I suppose

you know, like they didn't have a master plan or anything, but then they saw it, liked it, and were just like, okay, let's stick with this, blah blah 😛
Richard Hernandez13 said:I wonder if those are actual quotes from the script, or maybe just stuff lost in translation during the dubbing process?

The dubbing...

It feels a bit too cheesy for them to actually sound like that in the original (I mean, Chinese people invented the compass and gunpowder, after all 😁), but I guess when you realize they were translated by Americans, it kind of makes sense😁
Supposedly, this stuff comes from a book called "Enter the Dragon," which the authors put together by basically cherry-picking the best lines from those old 70s Hollywood films—you know, the Bruce Lee era.

so here goes:

I guess I've been acting pretty skittish lately, like a mouse or something.

Nothing weird, okay? We’re kind of in a rush.

Man, being killed off like this is just... unsatisfying, I guess.

You aren't walking away from this in one piece.

Your old man's a blacksmith and your mother's a bean vendor.

Beware! Your bones are about to get disconnected. (I mean, who'd even want to touch you after a threat like that? 😂 )

A bullet went right through his private parts.

He's probably the clumsiest fighter in the whole Martial Arts world.

Well! Fight Club! - 🤣

Beat him until he's unrecognizable!

Keep it down. Nothing's broken yet. Right? My stones feel like marshmallows now!

This isn't China. This is Hong Kong! Why do you keep running around hitting everyone in the head?

Sex is Life. Well, if that's true, then we're friends. (Probably the greatest pick-up line ever made, honestly 🤣 🙏 🙏 )

Hand over your urine... apparently, it heals internal wounds. You want some? Nah, yours isn't great.

Tell him a literal hill is going to crash into his car tonight. (hahahahaha 😂 )

This should be useful for you, you absolute piece of trash. I'm pretty sure you won't mind if I take your manhood and leave it out in the desert sand for your aunts to find. (This definitely belongs in a sig, I think 👍 )

more stuff here

If anyone remembers any of those old, super-cool Martial Arts gems, maybe keep them coming.

Just don't bring up Kung Pow, I think we'd need a whole separate thread for that.😉

even Resident Evil 2??

Olivia Martinez3 said:so, let me know what you guys thought about the movie, if you've actually seen it. personally, I was pretty much obsessed.

the film feels kind of silly most of the time and doesn't really break out of its little box, but there’s this one scene where, while you're watching, you kinda feel like the maniac behind the camera is trying to make a point...

that execution of the cop who shows up to save the victims—that endless (like, seriously endless) camera pull-back followed by the sudden shot—it's cool. once the scene passes, though, you realize there isn't much to it and that Rob Zombie just had a brief moment of brilliance. it's a shame there weren't more moments like that in the movie, I guess.

Olivia Martinez3 said:and, if you happen to know anything else in a similar vein (besides Evil Dead or The Cabin in the Woods), please let me know so I can check them out.

you should check out "Wrong Turn." I think it's way, way worse than this one, but if you're into Redneck horror, you might actually dig it.

anyway, the last horror thing I watched was Suspiria (finally!), and man, it really is one of those absolute masterpieces of the genre.

Whether it's Radiohead or whatever other band—it's all just subjective, I guess...
If you can't stand them and I love listening to them, well, who really cares?

Back to the main thing:

but why specifically Radiohead? 😕

And then there's Radiohead... I guess some snobs claim that The Bends and that early stuff isn't actually that good, huh? Heh... heh...

Done... 😁

Music is everything, I guess. I find myself playing the soundtrack here and there while I'm just surfing the web or whatever. 👍

Honestly, I’ve kind of fallen down the rabbit hole too. I’ll have the movie playing in the background just to hum along while I browse, but man, it’s catchy 😁

Plus, a buddy of mine kept insisting it was a total masterpiece, like, the absolute best ever, blah blah blah... so after being pretty lukewarm about it at first, I think I'm finally starting to get what the hype is about.

Don't worry, blueranger12, I won't let you down <quietdriver3 gives a humble salute>

I think I'll always try to stick to the bright side, just kind of walking that fine line between grace and chaos with these forum...🙂 moderators 😁

From those really promising but kind of clumsy beginnings, all the way up to that peak that came way too fast, and then the eventual crash. He always had this slightly cynical, arrogant vibe about him, but I honestly thought he might actually pull it off.

😢

yeah, true 😢

it’s kind of a shame he doesn't use those "super-powered" provocations of his to actually do some good, I guess. 😢
