hmmmm... 🤔

isn't that just one of those phrases made up by people who aren't really all there?

it's kind of like when people say someone is "beautiful on the inside" because they're actually pretty rough looking, I guess... maybe you could say people call someone "brilliant on the inside" when they're actually just being dim-witted. 🙂

and he's got a gun to his head, things are getting pretty wild in the bedroom, and he’s got like 60 seconds to pull it off... obviously he makes it—because in those movies, the protagonist is always the absolute best in the world, the fastest, the smartest, no competition at all)

I mean, look at it this way

if he didn't actually succeed, there wouldn't even be a story to tell, I guess.😉

man, this looks seriously good 🙂

hmmm

split personalities, really cool animation style... I guess if you like Philip K. Dick, it's basically a must-watch 👍

Just finished watching this one, it was pretty great 👍 👍

Though, I gotta say, there were an unusually high number of kids at the theater 😕 which kind of killed the vibe with all the constant getting up, fidgeting, and shouting... I guess they realized halfway through that the movie wasn't really their speed

So now I’m just wondering where they all came from?? 😕

Is it possible the poster was just that confusing 😕 😕

👍

this one feels like the mother of all clichés (honestly, probably applies to most Hollywood stuff):

Idiot Plot trope
Any plot where everything could be fixed in a heartbeat if the characters weren't just being total idiots.

it’ll get better, I guess

but I don't know why everyone is tripping over 😕Rushmore🙏... personally, that movie is definitely in my top ten

Cinema Mania had a whole list of clichés in there

just off the top of my head, I guess

Hey Jimmy klišey: That situation where the villain tells a story to the hero or some random victim, and the conversation ends with an exclamation of "hey Jimmy !....." followed by "I lied," and then he just kills them.

The Raygun cliché: When the hero charges into a room or a building in their car, they always somehow know exactly where everyone is standing so they never accidentally run over the person they’re actually trying to save.

The Wait For Me cliché: Every single time the hero tells the heroine, "wait for me here," she'll end up leaving a few minutes later to go find him, only to get caught in some major danger.

Negative Inertia cliché: In those old Westerns, if you’re aiming at someone standing on a balcony, the bullet will always somehow pull the victim forward toward the gun.

The Magic Gear Shift cliché: In movies where people are racing cars down the road, you can usually tell by the sound of the gear shifts that the cars have more than ten gears.

The Because It's There cliché: In a movie where a guy climbs a mountain or swims across a lake or whatever, when people ask him why he's doing it, he just says, "Because it's there..." accompanied by an epic soundtrack.

trganje clothing: When the hero and heroine are running through a forest or a jungle, she'll always stop for a second, and then he'll just rip her heels off or tear her skirt so she can run faster.

and so on...

I don't think I can do any more of these😛

I’m a huge fan of Wes Anderson movies, and honestly, none of them have ever let me down, so I’m definitely checking this one out 👍

They’ve got such a weird directing style, sort of surreal writing, and those genius soundtracks... plus you get Bill Murray in almost all of them 👍

Austin Chase12 said:maybe calling love a "must" is just an oxymoron, or some kind of weird oxymoronic compound word

I don't know, I wouldn't really say that's the case

I mean, love doesn't always have to be this high-level, enlightened state of consciousness, right?

A person can be totally in love while simultaneously going through this dark, crazy, half-existent phase—kind of like what you hear in most songs by Quincy, I guess. So, yeah, you could definitely have that combination of love and necessity mixed together😉

unknown, it feels so good to see a movie like this these days 😍

I can't really remember the last time a film actually lifted my mood and kept me entertained like this. Spielberg, man, you're the best. Two thumbs up for you!!!

Just one little thing, though. I think I would've preferred if the movie just ended right when 😎 left the
airport terminal. That way, all that stuff about being closed off, the contrast, the isolation... all those other vibes would have hit even harder. So, I'm kind of holding out hope for a
director's cut in a few years without the epilogue; because, at the end of the day, it doesn't really matter if he finished his quest or whatever, what matters is that he tried

Brian Sanchez44 said:So, I watched the movie... and look, I guess it has some really solid "SP style" jokes scattered throughout, but as a whole? It just doesn't really work. The scenes feel like they're just there for the sake of being there, you know? There isn't any real sense of plot progression or anything meaningful happening with the characters. Everything feels kind of messy and disjointed... honestly, the pacing and composition are just pretty bad.

I guess you could say the movie is basically just one big parody of all that typical Jerry Bruckheimer stuff and those other kinds of films, too. Maybe. 😉

I don't know, maybe it’s just me, but everything feels kind of cheesy... like it’s all just poorly put together. It's hard to tell, I guess. It just doesn't really flow right. 😉

I guess... I've been wondering about why they use lines like "Terrorize this!" or "I'm so cold" in the dialogue. Maybe there's some kind of reason behind it, I don't know. It just seems a bit specific, right? Just a thought, I guess.

The movie is basically just ninety minutes of constant satire... you know? It’s more like this subtle, slow-burn thing where it pokes fun at everything without being loud about it. It isn't one of those typical sitcoms that uses those annoying little cues to tell you exactly when you're supposed to laugh or when you should be feeling sad. It just sort of flows. I guess it's much more natural that way. 😉

gentlecanyon92 said:whether it's about protecting something precious to us or shielding someone we love from harm...

I mean, how do you guys not get it? We protect people because of selfless love.

You can't really claim someone risked their life just out of jealousy and somehow saved another person, because jealousy is... well, it's a selfish feeling, I guess.

Just to be a total stickler here, if we look at the definition:

Jealousy—one, it's that mental ache you feel when you're doubting someone's loyalty. Two, it's that sense of rivalry against others, whether in your career, chasing success, or looking for an edge.

Or, if I were to use the Jedi way of putting it: Jealousy pulls you toward the dark side.😈

gentlecanyon92 said:So you've never actually felt jealous?😉 ?

Oh, I definitely have.

And honestly, it’s such a heavy, negative feeling...

I mean, look at it this way: I don't think you could ever wrap the word jealousy into a positive context, no matter how hard you tried.🙂

To me, "positive jealousy" just feels like an oxymoron.🙂

gentlecanyon92 said:I don't think there's any other way to put it... I mean, unless you've actually felt what love is like, or even that specific kind of positive jealousy... it just isn't the same thing. 🙂

Like, maybe jealousy can actually be a motivator to protect things we hold dear, or just looking out for someone we care about from stuff that might hurt them...

but, I guess, if we're protecting someone simply because they mean everything to us, that's coming from a place of love rather than jealousy, right?

Ethan Howard45 said:I heard the tone of the movie is pretty Republican...
any thoughts?

I don't think the movie is Republican or Democrat, really.

It just mocks everything and everyone.

Basically, Trey Parker and Matt Damon just do what they always do—they poke fun at all the stuff we're already sick of.

I watched it today and honestly, it was great. It’s a shame my group was probably the loudest laughing group in the whole theater; I felt like we were being a little bit obnoxious, I guess. 😁

Matthew Fisher44 said:In the movie, they also claim there are three types of people in the world: "pussies, dicks and assholes. Pussies don't like dicks, because dicks fuck pussies."

But sometimes dicks fuck assholes 😂 😂

what a GENIUS deconstruction of human society.😂
