Renegades (2017) in Movies ·
It felt like some budget version of an Indiana Jones ensemble movie.

There are good parts. I love that they didn't try too hard to be serious.

Yeah, just old-school fun. Pretty interesting since it's set right here in the States.

Plus, the production value is way better than I expected given the subject matter.

He’s being pretty racist too.

Up next is a showcase of Russian indie films.

Sounds good.
I'll check it out.

bluebison8 said:She was easily the weakest part of the movie for me. Too much overacting. Not funny at all, just plain bad.

It’s clearly meant to be a caricature. That's why it's supposed to be funny. It's exaggerated on purpose. Especially that prison scene.

Don't go in expecting too much. It's fun in spots and actually works quite well.

Salma Hayek is just the best. I lost count of how many times I rewound her monologue about the lawyer "harassing" her. I was laughing every single time.

"That is not a place to hide a children's toy!" hahahah

Honestly, it would have been more interesting if the husband stayed alive in "psycho mode." You wouldn't know if he was playing or being serious.

🍿
Love stuff like this. Especially when it's Stephen King.
Hope it turns out good.
Gregory Brown94 said:@Edward Price6, do you think we'll ever actually see those flying cars they kept promising us back in the 😂
days?

hehe. Yeah. Once Elon Musk builds them.

And I translated it.
Just watched the eighth one.

It's way better than the usual gorefest. The story is actually decent, even if it feels a bit stretched at times. It respects Saw's canon though.

Betty Nelson71 said:Pretty boring movie. The lead actor isn't convincing as a father at all. He seems to have more chemistry with his dog than with his kids.
All he does for his wife is show up, sleep with her, and leave—three times. The best part was when he goes charging into battle and kisses a drawing of a jungle instead of his wife's picture or clothes.🤦
They portray him as this arrogant jerk who cares about the jungle more than anything else, but he was just totally unconvincing and dull.👎
The real hero is his wife, staying home and raising the kids solo. Finishing it tonight to see if he actually finds the city or not.
Really hoping it’s spectacular, because after waiting two hours for something to happen, nothing did.

Hehe, interesting insight from a female perspective.

No spoilers for the ending. :-)

Lost was explained plenty of times already.

Prometheus and Covenant are just one (two 😁) massive mess.

Ajutoi will clear everything up for you.
Memento leaves you knowing exactly who did what and why.

I feel like with Nolan, the real head-scratcher is whether it was a dream or reality in Inception.

My favorite ambiguous endings have to be Dice and The Man from Earth.
Sharknado (2013) in Movies ·
Sadly, I ended up sitting through the fifth one too.

It’s trash taken to a whole new level. It’s basically just a sci-fi superhero parody now, right in the vein of Scary Movie. Every other scene is just some pop culture gag.

To be fair, the special effects aren't half bad.

But man... the cringe is real.

From that Amer playing the US President to all those random celebrity cameos everywhere.

Hey, if you like that stuff, go for it.

You have been warned.

Looks better than I expected, actually.

I was surprised to see Soderbergh directing this. Last I heard, he wasn't really making movies anymore. Maybe this is his last one.

Anyway, looks good. Interesting cast.

Honestly, I didn't expect this when I saw the trailer, but this movie is hilarious.

I'm laughing so hard I just had to let everyone know—if you love action comedies, check this out.

Reynolds brings a bit of that Deadpool energy to the role. It feels like the first solid action comedy since The Other Guys or 21 Jump Street. Definitely that vibe.

And Jackson is absolutely fantastic here, even if he can be a bit much sometimes.

But for me, Hayek is the absolute best!

Super fun movie. Highly recommended if you want a good action comedy. It'll be great to see this in theaters.

IMDb

Both trailers are awesome, especially the one with the nuns.

silvertiger11 said:I felt the same way. It was boring. I wasn't expecting much from Indiana Jones, but there should have been more adventure.
Never read the book, so who knows if it was supposed to be like this. He seems forced into going at first. Why did he go back later? Turns out he's just obsessed with that lost civilization. But they never really explain it. Why? Where? Who? The title is what it is. You'd expect the movie to actually focus on that. Maybe that's just me.
All those little side quests meant to lead up to the main plot ended up being the whole movie. I was more interested in how his family was doing in New York City than watching him sing to locals.

Family drama aside, there were some good parts. Reminded me a bit of Herzog's jungle films. Still couldn't finish it.

The message here is basically: it's about the journey, not the destination.

Mjuza is great, that first one really sticks with you.

I can barely remember the others.

But this looks like an Asian remake. Might be alright.

Shallow and pure propaganda. I only watched it because I felt obligated to. Now I’m here just to vent my frustration. This is the last thing I’ll ever say about this movie. I'm erasing it from my memory.
