Any animated movie recommendations? in Movies ·
Melissa Moore32 said:Hmm... well, most animated movies based on comics or manga end up being worse than the "original" material. But that doesn't mean they're actually bad or not worth a watch.

I was watching them yesterday and today.

'Asterix in Britain' is way better than 'Asterix the Gaul' or 'Asterix and Cleopatra'..

Does anyone know when 'Britain' was actually made? 'Cleopatra' came out around '65.

Tomorrow I'm going to check out 'Against Caesar'... For now, though, my top pick is still 'Asterix and the Twelve Tasks,' which unfortunately won't be shown. 😢

dustycanyon6 - You hit the nail on the head! Exactly!

I mean, if you’re gaining weight because you're constantly snacking on bread and sweets—well, there's your answer right there!

But honestly, I have no clue how much bread and sugar a guy can actually pack away before things go south... I guess it might be better if he just stuck to complex carbs plus some protein and put in some actual work at the gym to build muscle.

northernridge97 - It’s like someone told you once—it’s definitely better to be thin than to carry around extra weight. At least it's healthier... or that's what my doctors always used to tell me, anyway. For a young guy, being a bit underweight is probably safer than being overweight. Everything usually balances out as you get older..

Asterix and Obelix—honestly, they’re just absolute masterpieces! I recently rewatched them and, man, they totally blew me away all over again. Just so much humor and the animation is top-tier. I highly recommend them!

Princess Mononoke is such a brilliantly made film.

Then, if you're looking for something a bit more out there, you should definitely check out Bakshi's Fritz the Cat.

As far as the newer stuff goes, I really dig Shrek.

You've probably already seen Bakshi's 'Lord of the Rings,' but I'll mention it anyway. It’s from the 70s (maybe even the 60s?) and it absolutely glued me to my chair when I was a kid; I just sat there staring, completely mesmerized, eyes wide open... I mean, what can I even say? The movie is incredible, but hey, it's still an animation...

northernridge97 said:So, here's how I see things... I've got this one standard that I live by...
So, I just finished off two containers of yogurt, then whipped up some cheesy pancakes... now I’m just sitting here at the computer. Later on, maybe I'll grab two or three eggs... and I usually wash all that down with some Vitamin C. Honestly, once I get settled in front of the screen, I totally lose track of what I'm eating. I don't really plan anything; I just eat whenever hunger finally hits me out of nowhere. Then by the evening, I'll probably just end up grabbing a sandwich, some lettuce, chard, or whatever else happens to be lying around... and then I head to bed. And yeah, I guess I just repeat the whole cycle all over again.🙂 🙂

Geez, man, you really need someone to come over and just knock some sense into you. 😁

Just try adding some refined sugar to that and you'll see what I mean!

That still isn't what anyone would call "healthy weight gain." Seriously, you should try loading up on bananas, seeds, full-fat yogurt, and maybe some whole grain bread with cream cheese. Eat way more greasy burek or pizza instead... Geez, if only I had your problem! 😁

Just eat more than you burn, and that’s really it. 😁

If you’re that skinny, you probably find it a real struggle to actually build any muscle mass, but you've got to give it a shot... Maybe try talking to a professional who can actually map out a nutrition plan for you to follow while you're training.

People who are thin generally don't eat nearly as much as those of us who are a bit more filled out (😁) think they do. I mean, I honestly used to believe they just had these insane metabolisms where they could eat whatever they wanted without gaining an ounce, but that's really not how it works... It's quite simple: just try eating more. Good luck!
herbie hancock

Are you kidding me? 😁

At this rate, we’ll be seeing Herbie Hancock on MTV hanging out with Jay-Z next 😂

Look, I don't know much about rap vs. hip-hop—honestly, I don't really see the difference between the two (can someone explain that to me? 😁)—but I actually dig what Cypress Hill, Missy Elliott, and Outkast are doing.

Everything else just feels off to me. All that shallow hip-hop R&B garbage they play on MTV (like Eminem, P. Diddy, and Jay-Z) drives me absolutely insane... Especially when you see them drop a solo track, then a feature with someone else, then suddenly three of them are recording together for some "new" hit... then four people... It’s all just freaking boring and so damn repetitive and predictable...

hollowviper72 said:Grizli asked if I developed my own techniques from scratch. And yeah, I did. If you're wondering why I rarely cite other people, it’s because I’ve always been pretty much self-taught. Honestly, I feel like intuition is the absolute bedrock of any real personal growth... which is exactly why I say it's best to discover these things entirely on your own terms. That way, we go where we need to go and actually do things in the way that works best for us personally.

Following anyone else just blinds you...

I totally agree—you have to follow yourself. 🙂

As for me? I've kind of stalled out on this whole thing... Reality has sort of clouded everything up again...

It's killing me...

You guys seem to be really hitting your stride here... Bravo... 🙂 I mean, please, keep going, I'm loving reading all of this...

In the meantime, I'm going to try to dive deep into myself... I'm actually really looking forward to it... No books, no podcasts, nothing.

Ryan Wilson2 said:Hmm... I don't really get how you can judge something when you have zero clue about it and you've never actually done it yourself. 😈

Like I said before... it takes a person a long time to actually figure out what works and what doesn't.

So, just tell me—what would *you* do? How would it actually benefit you, and why would you even bother wasting your time on it? If you tell me that, maybe I'll dig up some recommendations for you.

You're right, I can't... But still, things just sort of push you toward taking action, or they don't... Or maybe it's just pure desire driving it, which is fine too, I guess.. I just want to find out if this is something I truly want that badly.

I don't know what I'd do, or how, exactly, but I want to tap into my creative potential (that's the main thing, really)... I’m saying that dreams and those other experiences aren't just for nothing; they're where everything crystallizes, where I get an idea and finally solve a problem... I want to reach that state, I want it to be within my grasp, as long as that's healthy and actually possible...

Bipolar—look, I don't know. That's why I started this thread, to hear different perspectives and suggestions, especially if anyone else (who isn't such a saint, unlike me) knows anything about it. What you pulled from my posts is basically just my stream of consciousness, written down, I guess, but yeah, that's it.

Drugs don't really factor into this at all. In principle, I don't do drugs and I don't see them as a solution to anything. I don't know (unfortunately) how to say much more or explain it better; I feel like a kid who just found one toy (when there's a whole room full of them right in front of me).

I know I might be tripping over my own words here, and I wish I could explain myself better, but it's just hard right now... I hope someone understands me, and maybe I'll find better ways to say it soon.

Don't you dare come at me for rambling—it’s what gets the gears turning, and everything starts with a little bit of deep thinking, doesn't it? 😁

Does anyone have any book recommendations? I'm thinking about diving into this stuff a bit more seriously so I can wrap my head around it and figure out if it's actually worth the investment or just a massive waste of time 🙂 Thanks.

😁

I know, right?

Wait a second... so you're saying the actual substance used for X really does exist out there in nature! Wow... just wow... 🙂

But then again... why do drugs even exist in the wild? Everything happens for a reason, I guess. There’s a purpose behind everything... just like water, food, or sunlight. And if you go overboard with anything, you're done for.

It’s the same deal with humans. If you push consciousness too far and it leads to a total breakdown... or if you chase extreme highs only to be met with crushing lows... you need balance. You have to have balance.

I suppose the road to an expanded state of mind is full of thorns and misery... it’s like there’s always a price to pay. You get that incredible feeling from the substances, sure, but it lasts one night, and then two days later, you're just a complete wreck.

Just thinking out loud here... my apologies 🙂

So I find myself wondering—is it actually healthy to insist on a constant state of enlightenment when that's just fundamentally unnatural? Still, man, I would give anything for it...

Oh man, I definitely don't need some kind of rushed treatment here 😁 I mean, I'll work on it... eventually... maybe.

Seriously, what is this? Is it actually impossible to just slowly and steadily draw it out of someone..? Forget about Mexico City, give me a break. (And what even is peyote? Some kind of plant 😕 )

Thanks to the mod for moving this thread; I realized after posting that it actually belongs in this section 🙂

To me, being in a state of higher consciousness means experiencing this surreal, out-of-this-world mental state where you can finally see, grasp, and really perceive the deeper layers of things...

Like, whenever I'm deep into one of my creative hobbies, I’ll spend forever just racking my brain trying to find some inspiration... And if I happen to be under the slight influence of something, the images start flooding in—it's honestly incredible..

I’ve felt the exact same way during that initial phase of drifting off to sleep, that weird limbo where you aren't quite awake but you aren't fully asleep either—vivid images just dance behind your eyes and suddenly all these confusing things start making sense. It's hard for me to put into words because these are all such new realizations for me; I've been dabbling in spirituality lately, and since I used to be a pretty down-to-earth person, it's been a bit of a struggle getting used to all these new developments in my life..

Drugs definitely crank up your creative flow and sensory input...

Honestly, I’m just totally fascinated by everything hidden deep inside me, and I love those moments when it all finally spills out. Not like I’m some enlightened guru walking around with a constant state of high consciousness, though... 😢

I’ve been obsessing over how to actually tap into that headspace without... you know... constantly being high. Ugh... No. Just, no.

What even is Kundalini yoga anyway? Magic rituals? Hmm... honestly, that doesn't sound particularly appealing to me...
Consciousness in Spirituality ·
Look, I’m asking this without any judgment or anyone trying to lecture me on morality 🙂

I was wondering if there’s actually a way to reach those elevated states of consciousness—the kind people usually hit with drugs—but through some sort of "natural" route?

Like, does anyone know of specific meditations, breathing exercises, or anything like that?

Just keep it simple, please. I’m a total layman here.

Thanks 🙂
Incredible female vocals!! in Music ·
Man, I honestly can't count how many more incredible vocalists I have yet to discover😁

I am seriously looking forward to it..

I really dig Roisin Murphy from Moloch—she’s got such a distinct, unique sound.

And Astrud Gilberto? Man, she’s just an absolute angel. She hits me right in the feels... 🙂
I don't get the hate for Adam Sandler, honestly. Why is everyone jumping on him so hard?

I mean, the Oscars should definitely go to Leonardo DiCaprio... and Anne Heche... As for her, she just can't act, if you ask me...

I’m not even sure if "psychology" is the right word for it, but I constantly run into these issues regarding interpersonal relationships (and I don't mean in the context of Ljes, the USA, or RiD -> though it usually ends up being one of those). Maybe it’s worth looking into something along those lines.

Urban & 4

And honestly, there are some really solid young bands out there just waiting for their big break, unproven but talented... maybe one of them will actually make it big someday...
