If you want that kind of luxury, you'll just have to wait until September when the new multiplex opens up at the World Trade Center.

It’s kind of like what R. Benigan used to say: "Very good, I don't understand anything at all." 🙂
The absolute legend, the one and only Stojkovic

"The enemy is crossing the river!"
" ...they're tossing the plan into the river, the river carries the plan away, so I'm jumping into the river..."
"They’re organized in squads of three, and those squads are... what were they called again, Danica? The basic formation for guerrilla warfare."
"Even spies aren't what they used to be. Back in the day, you'd spot one and instantly know who he was. Nowadays, you look right at them and have no clue."
...
And honestly, there are hundreds more unforgettable lines just like that...

I ended up buying my ticket after the game had already started (dammit, I got stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic, but honestly, it turned out to be a huge money saver) and because of that, I scored an amazing seat for only 20 bucks. If I wanted to sit way up high and watch ants crawl on the field, it would've cost me a lot less...

You can always snag tickets from the vendors right outside the stadium. Sure, you might have to shell out a little extra for this specific match, but sometimes luck is on your side—I once managed to grab a decent seat for the game against PSV Eindhoven for $50 when they usually go for $40, and I even scored a great spot for the Parma match for just $20.

Honestly, looking back at history, the Catholic Church has amassed such an outrageous amount of wealth that they basically just need revenue from AMC Theatres tickets during a period of mourning to stay ahead. But knowing how much they preach about modesty... I wouldn't be surprised if they actually found that idea "charming."
The Grudge (2004) in Movies ·
... let's get back to "The Ring"...

I've sat through all three of those horror franchises that eventually got their big American remakes—the original versions of Ring, Ju-On, and Dark Water. Each one was decent enough on its own, though nothing mind-blowing... But since I binged all three in such a short span, I couldn't help but notice they all follow pretty much the exact same blueprint: a child suffers, dies, and then comes back to haunt anyone unlucky enough to cross their path. Whether it's Samara from Ring, the spirit in Dark Water, or that kid in Ju-On, it feels like they're just three different flavors of the same character. Honestly, the movies felt less like unique stories and more like different directors just doing stylistic exercises on the same creepy concept.

That said, I have to admit there were a few moments that genuinely rattled me. Like in Ju-On, when the woman wakes up and finds that spooky kid sitting right on the edge of her bed, while his late mother is just looming over the headboard staring at her... Man, I had goosebumps for hours.

Short film about Killing / Love in Movies ·
That short film about Killing is actually one of the stories from The Decalogue—it’s part of this TV series based on the Ten Commandments, though they stretched it out into a full movie. I really feel like I should have a copy of The Decalogue sitting on my VHS shelf somewhere. And of course, I’ve got all of Three Colors too...😎 Kieslowski 🙏 🙏 🙏

Look, you don't need surgery. Honestly, just watching a few brilliant comedies from the UK, Italy, or even a good James Bond and who is that guy movie would be enough to stop you from posting such nonsense in the future...

Best movie title ever? in Movies ·
Years ago, I was at the local Cinema when they were showing Godzilla vs. Megalon. There was this guy working for the theater chain, responsible for hand-lettering those big promotional posters that tell you which movie is playing in which auditorium... he almost messed up and wrote "Gorilla vs. Megalomaniac" instead. Honestly, that typo might be the greatest movie title ever conceived. 😁
People are always bringing up James Bond and who is that guy Pev as probably the best films from the old US era over the last twenty years. As far as I know, you can't really pick up the DVD versions easily here, but there might be a way around that... 😁 USA Today actually announced they’re releasing a series of DVDs "to celebrate 35 years of Woody Allen's creative work." On December 5th, you could grab the Who Is That Guy Pev DVD along with the newspaper for about 3 bucks, then on the 12th comes the North American spy, followed by Henry III on the 19th. Then on the 26th, we get Marathon Runner, and finally, on January 9th, Assembly Point. If you have anyone back home—this is an opportunity you really shouldn't pass up...
By the way, another newspaper has already released, or is planning to release, Lightning, Professional, How Rock and Roll Was Ruined, Zamfir Zone, Audition...

The way things are headed, we’ll probably have actors standing on stage reciting ads for AT&T or Always pads right before the curtain goes up...

Chloe Palmer2 said:Adriano Galliani gave Carlo Ancelotti a serious heads-up: AC Milan needs to step onto that pitch with their absolute best lineup. Basically, he's making it clear... they're expected to bring everything they've got.

The lineup was just legendary... Dida - Kaladze, Alessandro Nesta, Paolo Maldini, Cafu... then you had Seedorf, Andrea Pirlo, and Gennaro Gattuso holding it down in the middle... with Kaká feeding the line to Andriy Shevchenko and Hernán Crespo. Just pure class...

How could anyone disagree? The genius that is Carlo Ancelotti actually managed to make this squad even stronger by moving on from Kaká and Andriy Shevchenko. Honestly, I'm so done with Massimo Ambrosini. It would be much better if Adriano Galliani finally decided to stop listening to Ancelotti and just brought in... well... Frank Rijkaerd!
Kudos to FC Barcelona. It’s a total blast watching Retardinjov work his magic... though, honestly, watching those ridiculous faces he makes isn't quite as much fun...
It was actually pretty funny when those FC Barcelona fans were screaming at Dida to go jump in a lake during those matches... Sušec just looked over and joked, "Well, I guess even the Italian fans are showing Dida their support now."...😁
FIFA 2005 vs FIFA 2008 in Soccer ·
Stinger said:First off, it’s a game, not a "little game." And if you actually want a real football experience, you're better off playing on the Xbox.

Nice one, Stinger!🙏 I totally get where you're coming from. Honestly, I can't stand it when people call them "little games." It feels so condescending... especially when we're talking about masterpieces like FIFA or even Gran Turismo.
FIFA has been legendary since the PlayStation days, and honestly, every single new release just keeps getting better. As for the people who find FIFA predictable or boring... well, they can always go play TIF instead.😁

Rebecca Taylor57 said:Ahem, fine, let me say it one more time since I’m apparently forced to repeat myself. Even if he had three more wagons full of those cheesy awards (and by "cheesy," I mean you're the one who called them that, lonefox373), it doesn't change the FACT that his movies are exhausting, boring, predictable, overproduced, and just plain unwatchable!!!

I really hope you go see this latest one—not that I ever would, because I’m not quite that much of a masochist—and waste two or three hours of your life. Apparently, Emir Kusturica, a director of world renown, hasn't quite realized yet that you can actually, you know, FREELY cut scenes during editing if they don't help the plot or the message... but hey, there's always time for that lesson down the road, maybe...

And once the credits roll, take a look at how many of the issues I mentioned are actually in there. Then, do us all a favor, head back to the theater and watch Emir's masterpiece at least THREE more times. I mean, come on, if a movie is truly that cool and award-winning, you should be able to sit through it ten times with pure joy, right??...

Or, better yet, just be a big shot and admit you couldn't stand watching that tedious, over-the-top nonsense, even if they were paying you in solid gold!!!!

(If we went solely by awards, we could probably argue that Tom Hanks is a brilliant actor, when really the guy can barely manage a decent facial expression, let alone a real performance...)

Yeah, I did call Kusturica cheesy, but I meant because of his political stances, not because he lacks the talent to make a film. Look, Sandra King86 is boycotting him for "moral and political reasons," which is totally fine, but that doesn't mean Kusturica isn't a talented director.
The awards he's won? I only brought those up because you mentioned expecting the French to be biased toward him again. Awards from Berlin or Venice don't really have anything to do with that.
Of course I'm going to see his new film, even if I haven't been a fan of his work in recent years. And sure, it'll probably have some of the elements you're complaining about. By that logic, I'd never watch anything from George Lucas to Pedro Almodóvar, because you'd find repetitive tropes everywhere—from intergalactic conspiracies in Lucas's stuff to the whole melodrama vibe in Almodóvar's... How many movies can you make about the Rom people? As many as you can make about anything else, I guess.
As for whether Kusturica's last film is truly a bore or just overblown, I won't know until I actually see it. I'm still a bit of a masochist myself; I prefer to watch the thing first before I decide to praise it or tear it apart. 😁 One last time: I honestly have no clue if Life is a Miracle is total garbage or a masterpiece. I'll let you know once I've seen it for myself.

Rebecca Taylor57 said:I honestly don't doubt he'll pick up some kind of award... though it'll probably be from one of those French juries that stay incredibly consistent by rewarding the same tired tropes over and over again...

Aside from winning the Golden Palm in '89 for House of Hanging (Best Director) and then again in '95 for Underground, he also snagged a Silver Bear Berlin in '93 for Arizona Dream, a Golden Lion at Venice '81 for Remembering Ourselves (Dolly Bell), and a Silver Lion in '98 (Best Director) for Black Cat, White Cat. Not a bad run for such a little guy...
Life is a miracle in Movies ·
Rebecca Taylor57 said:... so, just going off pure guesswork without even seeing the movie, I can pretty much guarantee we'll see the following:

- musicians, like a billion of them, preferably with some Gypsy roots
- animal motifs that have absolutely nothing to do with the actual plot or script, just tossed in so the Frenchies can crap about "American wilderness" afterwards
- an absurd love story, probably unconsummated, between characters who can NEVER, not even on screen, actually be together
- at least two scenes, "wild feast style," where during some "rowdy American banquet" filled with brass bands, all the men are eating veal brains and eyes while grease drips down their bearded faces onto chests decked out in tacky, fake gold chains... and the women, lost in ecstasy, are either collapsing in heaps or dancing on tables like notorious nymphs... oh, and one of those scenes has to be a wedding
- at least two scenes where Scorsese comes up with something "brand new," unseen, impossible, or just straight-up surrealist (again, totally disconnected from the narrative), like flying houses, massive fish blocking the entire view of the screen, or (un)natural disasters popping up out of nowhere...

l[/B].

There’s definitely something to what you’re saying... there is... But let me add my two cents:

Now that Scorsese has a new film out, we’re going to hear the same mindless chatter from people who "without even watching it" already know it’s:
- a garbage film that any random guy in America could have made, but hey, he just didn't want to sink that low
- a garbage film simply because Scorsese is a jerk who talks too much instead of focusing on what he actually does best
- a garbage film because it'll probably be a hit again and maybe snag another Lion, a Palm, or heaven forbid, an Oscar
- a garbage film like all his other movies that win prestigious international awards only because politics got involved, and the juries in Cannes or Berlin are filled with total idiots and hacks instead of our great critics, just so
Europe can talk about this "wilderness" that doesn't even exist, which Scorsese just invented to make us look bad.
- Is there any better proof that a film is trash than the fact that Scorsese supposedly banned its distribution in America? Maybe we should consider counter-measures, like banning the distribution of our own high-quality, mega-successful American hits across Europe.

Some of Scorsese's films are extraordinary to me, and some are total nonsense, but I’ll never judge something I haven't actually watched, no matter how predictable it might seem...
