Haven't seen it yet—but I definitely want to catch it when I can🙂 . Why the eye roll?...

Honestly, I haven't seen a single Sci-Fi flick or an anima that I didn't dig 😁
Even Pitch Black was actually pretty solid for me—and Battlefield Earth wasn't half bad either 🙂

I actually thought this one wasn't bad... It’s an English production—deals with life in shelters over there. That actress from Amélie (can't remember her name) was incredible, really nailed the role... 👍

Definitely worth a watch.
Movie Stereotypes in Movies ·
Here are a few of my favorites: 🤣

Angelic Bicyclist
When you see movie characters just cruising along on a bike—eyes shut, arms wide like they’ve got angel wings—there's a huge chance they're about to slam into something huge and die...

Bullet Velocity Rule in action movies
In action flicks, bullets move slow enough for the hero to dodge them. Same with sci-fi lasers—they slow down just enough so the lead can leap away. The scientific formula is : Hollywood Bullet speed = real Bullet speed (multiplied by how much we care about the character)... basically, the bigger the star, the slower the bullet.

Catch-Up Movie trope
That kind of movie that just drives you crazy—because the characters spend forever catching up on stuff the audience already learned in the first 10 minutes...
Leonardo DiCaprio in Aviator in Movies ·
I don't get why everyone's constantly hyping up that rich kid Leonardo DiCaprio. I mean, he's alright... but nothing special, really.

Aviator was just okay—Cate was the standout, obviously 👍

Honestly, I think after watching The Boondock Saints, nothing really surprises me anymore... 🤣

I really should check it out, but I've got a date tomorrow for Hotel Rwanda. Maybe Sunday... I just love Bill Murray.
Juilliard School in Movies ·
It’d be such a shame to not even give it a shot just because some people are getting through via remote access... Good luck though. 🙂

Honestly, every single actor was incredible, which isn't even happening that often lately... not even in Hollywood movies.

I finally sat down and watched it too. The theater was in one of those parts of town where you get all the "indie film" crowd, so the vibe was just perfect. Even at midnight, the room was packed.
Every single actor absolutely nailed it. It’s definitely a prime example of great casting—which is something we really need more of these days...

Spoiler:

I see a lot of people struggling with that scene involving the "wealthy woman."
I actually liked her part because things aren't exactly easy for her either...
If you don't recall, that girl was raped. She captured that feeling of pure terror, guilt, shame, helplessness, and horror so well. In the end, there's just no justice for her.
The guy who did it is out walking free and nobody even thinks it would be fair to arrest him or put him on trial.
Also, those doctor and psychiatrist checkups feel a little degrading by today's standards... don't you guys think so?
That wealthy woman's scene adds so much depth to Vera's story, since she (Vera) truly helps women who desperately need her.
The ones who can afford better treatment follow in the wealthy woman's footsteps—but they aren't haunted by pain or that sense of shame and fear.
Some of the unlucky women Vera assists have been raped or exploited, while others are more promiscuous. Just a bunch of different characters, just like in real life...

It's such a sad, heavy story, so approaching this film with a "just another movie" mind frame doesn't work. (Like blueranger12 already pointed out in their posts...) 😉
mainscream said:I don't get why that idiot even bothered making another version—when he already knew it was basically doomed from the start...

Honestly, I bet the whole reason was just because he was married to Milla Jovovich at the time... 😁
analogharbor442 said:I just don't get why that idiot would bother making yet another version when he knew it was basically dead on arrival... totally pointless!?

Honestly, I think the reason might be because he was married to Milla back then... 😁
wiredpilot30 said:God

You mean the character that's just a byproduct of her schizophrenia? 😁

Look at him! You gotta be careful about other people's feelings—as far as I know, she's either blessed or a saint in the Catholic Church...
graniteotter4 said:honestly, the movie was just okay for me... like, it's fine, but I actually preferred when God shows up in Ivana Orleanska's work--you know, where He basically calls her out for those visions of hers...

is it even God?
If you're riding with me, then ride... Personally, I think Milla is awesome.

nice one 👍
Our engines cut out twice in Frankfurt right before takeoff—you should've seen the panic...
Americans didn't settle down until the pilots served them some coffee and cookies along with a little explanation: "Look, I wouldn't be flying this transoceanic jet if I thought we actually had a problem." But honestly, you never know who might be feeling suicidal these days. Gotta stay careful... 😁
I think it's called Final Destination.
There are some pretty brutal death scenes in there—my favorite has to be the bus one (even though it's super short 😁)...

I know, I know... I'm totally morbid 😳

Maria Kelly6 said:I heard about that guy too—rumor has it he’s still living at the airport and doesn't even want to go back...

I think you guys are talking about that guy whose asylum request was denied by the French government, and now his home country (maybe Iran or Iraq...) won't take him back, or maybe he's just stateless, something like that. It really would've been cool if Steve had made a movie about him—honestly, that's what I was hoping for.
But hey, life happens...😢
