quietdriver3> your sentence sounds like it started out as something else entirely

There was this whole debate going on about what RHPS actually is.

Like, was it intentionally made to be that bad? Was the whole thing just meant to be a joke, or were they actually 100% serious when they made it and it just turned out the way it did? It’s hard to say how much of it is pure trash and how much isn't...

Then someone chimed in saying that RHPS is basically just an example of a low-budget musical.

I've only ever seen the movie version, not the actual stage musical. Though, I guess I'd love to experience the musical live and see what it's like being in the audience while everyone is jumping around and dancing. 😂 👍

Those shirts are pretty cool too... what does it say again... ''Someone in Transylvania loves you'' 🤔

GNN> I found the movie funny, but maybe not *that* much

Personally, I didn't find the movie funny at all, and I'd bet most people feel the same way.

I mean, sure, there are some absurd scenes that might get a laugh, but probably for entirely different reasons. This isn't really a comedy to begin with.

The whole thing is more of a "cult experience"—something you watch to enjoy the music or even sing along and dance to the unknown.

Someone actually told me once—I think an unknown was there too—that RHPS is basically just a low-budget musical or something like that...🤔

Richard Hernandez13 said:I think Brad Bird mentioned there wouldn't be a sequel. But the real kicker is that Disney owns the entire Pixar catalog from when they were partners—which includes the rights to make sequels to those movies. 😲

Well, great job, Richard Hernandez13... you hit the nail on the head. 👍

The problem is that a sequel would probably feel way more like a Disney cash grab and way less like actual Pixar, and we all know how those Disney sequels usually turn out. 👎

(Okay, okay... I guess Aladdin 2 was actually pretty decent 😁)

I mean, let’s be real here—this just isn't one of those rare cases where a sequel could actually live up to the quality of the original. I guess it's just unlikely.

There are just way too many elements here that you can't easily replicate or even reuse in a practical sense. I guess it’s all fine if you're going for one specific look, but from a production standpoint, it feels like a massive waste. Maybe I'm being too harsh, but it seems like a lot of effort for something that doesn't scale at all. I guess there might be a follow-up coming, but I honestly don't know. Maybe.I guess this movie has one single thread that actually works, but honestly, it’s the only thing going for it. Nowhere else does it manage to pull itself together.

Look, this isn't some endless cash cow like Shrek that they can just keep recycling forever as long as there's a market for it. 🙄

I honestly feel like a sequel would just be plain stupid compared to the original, and I’m genuinely worried it might actually trivialize what made the first one great. Why am I saying this? Because the first film felt like a complete, self-contained chapter. Everything that needed to be said was said, and everything that needed to be shown was shown. To me, that’s where the story ends.

I mean, I guess you could argue that Toy Story isn't exactly the best example to use here, mostly because it left the door wide open for all those sequels, right? 😉

If they ever actually made a sequel, I guess it would end up being something like The Lion King 2. Honestly, I’m trying my best here, but I just can't think of a better comparison. 😁)

Look, I’m not saying it’s impossible to make a sequel. It's definitely doable. But honestly? It just wouldn't be the same thing.

So, here’s what I’m actually hoping for—and maybe I’m just being optimistic here—but I really want Pixar to stick to this specific rhythm and style. What I mean is that they should take a theme, or a problem, or just some situation... honestly, it doesn't even matter what it is... as long as the movie actually has a point or a core idea behind it. From there, they could build the whole thing using those same building blocks we saw in The Incredibles—you know, mixing the action, the drama, and the visual style—just set within a completely different world. You know what I mean?

Okay... this turned out to be incredibly confusing.😕

I mean, look at someone like Miyazaki, for instance.

If you take a close look at his movies, you start to notice that a huge number of them share certain—and I really want to emphasize *certain*—common threads. Usually, it’s some specific idea, one of his particular stances, or just a direct product of his own imagination. Sometimes those themes are everywhere, sometimes they're subtle... honestly, it doesn't even matter.

The main thing is that we only need to swap out the external setting and, obviously, the plot itself.

I guess you could say that Nausicaa and Laputa are pretty similar, even when you look at the overall style. On the other hand, Mononoke really stands out from the rest, though I suppose its core ideas feel closer to Nausicaa than they do to Laputa or anything else.

I mean, wouldn't it be great if Pixar actually tried something new? I guess they could make another action flick with some dramatic undertones, sure, but maybe this time they could actually base it on something real—like, I don't know, youth issues, environmental stuff, or even the economy... I'm just throwing examples out there, but you get my point. And for heaven's sake, let's hope they don't just call it Incredibles 2 again.

Of course there are. 😁

I absolutely love that movie... I probably watch it at least once every six months just to revisit it.

The music is incredible. I find myself listening to the soundtrack here and there while I'm surfing the web or whatever. 👍

It’s pretty unlikely they’re pirates, because a buddy of mine actually rented this straight from a video rental store.

GNN> Look, over the last year or so, I’ve probably mentioned more than once how much I enjoyed a certain movie. I mean, what’s even the point in repeating myself?

Always. 👍

Hey, I actually enjoy reading your posts and your takes, especially when you manage to draw those connections between movies like hard drive and The Incredibles. 👍

Plus, I need something to kill time during these late hours when my Nintendo emulator glitches out and I end up losing an hour of grinding through five levels. 😵 😁

slyrider16 > The only thing that actually annoyed me—and Melissa Moore32, please don't come for me—is how much they hyped up this whole plan involving a robot destined to level the city. They build all this tension around this machine coming into town and starting its rampage... but then we barely see any of it. Seriously, when am I actually going to see a high-budget movie (or even just one with decent animation) that focuses on the massive, total destruction of a megalopolis during a fight between giant robots?

Heh...😁 🙂

I mean, at the end of the day, it’s a Disney production, not something by Go Nagai. But yeah, I guess they could have caused a bit more damage to those buildings. 🙂I mean, I still think Americans deal with some serious phobias whenever they see buildings starting to crumble. 😬

Resurrected said:To be honest, she really didn't stand much of a chance at winning today. I mean, maybe if things had gone differently, but looking at how it played out, her odds were pretty slim.

The course is pretty mellow and features some moderate bumps, so it’s really best suited for those lighter, more aggressive skis—think something like the Schild or Poutiainen models.

I don't know, I have this nagging feeling that that crash in Aspen really messed things up. It feels like the first run was way more cautious than it probably should have been. Maybe they're just playing it safe because of what happened.

I mean, look, I guess it’s fine... there's really no need to force it, especially since they’re competing in every single discipline. You have to manage your energy and spread your strength out if you want to actually finish strong.

Resurrected said:That bitter rival of hers is sitting on a 100-point lead in the slalom right now. I guess it’s going to be a massive uphill battle for Janica to close that gap, unless her performance starts tanking. Maybe if Anja Pärson steps up to help out, there's a slim chance, but it's looking tough.

Oh boy... we are still a long way from the finish line. There’s plenty of season left, with tons of slalom and giant slalom still on the schedule—not to mention the speed events, where I guess Janica is actually starting to show some real improvement.

And let's not forget about one more combination. 😉

I still think Janica has the best shot at taking home the VKG, even if she misses out on all those little milestones along the way. To be honest, though, I don't really care who ends up winning it in the end. I mean, Jana already has two under her belt. 😁

Look, at the end of the day, the most important thing is that she stays healthy and keeps her conditioning up. If she does that, the results will follow eventually. She’s way too much of a professional to let a minor setback like this get under her skin or mess with her career.

I don't know, I have my doubts that Poutianinen is going to stay in this kind of form consistently.

Looking back at how Anja Pärson performed last season, that win didn't feel nearly as dominant or certain as it did when the season first kicked off. I guess it just wasn't as smooth as everyone initially expected. 😉

Look, what applies to a distance runner also applies to Janica, I suppose. But even so, I honestly think Jana could handle a much more intense schedule and push through more races than Tanja ever could.

What really gets me excited is how much more thrilling the races have become lately. It honestly feels just like those first two seasons when Janica started dominating the World Cup.

Two years ago, she was basically untouchable—it felt like Janica just owned the entire field. But this past season? It was all about Anja Pärson. I guess things just shift like that sometimes.

This year might actually be worth watching for once. You’ve got Janica still working her way back through recovery, while Pärson seems to be struggling to find her rhythm—though I guess those constant losses in head-to-head matchups against Janica aren't helping her confidence much. Then there's Poutianinen, who honestly looks like she's in incredible form right now. It could get interesting.

Just wait until Dorfmeister and Göetchel finally decide to show up...😲

And then you've got Aspen in the mix too. 😉

Everything will work itself out eventually. I guess. 👍

Janica took 3rd place. 👍

Look, she did alright in the second run, but she just couldn't close the gap on Schild and Poutiainen. Those two were absolutely flying during the second lap.

Nika finished 9th, which basically mirrors what she pulled off back in Aspen. I guess you have to wonder—is Nika finally showing some actual consistency? Let's hope so.

Anja Pärson ended up right behind Janica in 4th.

The battle for the overall lead is still incredibly tight.

The women are heading over to Val d'Isere now for those two sub-events... there's a decent chance the Americans and Austrians will shake things up, but maybe Janica can grab a few more points too. 👍

Jamie Sanchez48> You really did it. It’s like you’re just out here "validating" everything now. I guess, how on earth did you even manage to pull that together?

Ugh, that was just a typo...😵 It was supposed to be a validation... you know, for the English part. To validate...but I didn't really double-check my spelling, so some stuff ended up being written wrong. I'm pretty sure there are probably more typos in there too. 😂

I guess I could throw that into a sentence for you. "Excuse me, do you validate parking tickets here?" It’s pretty straightforward, though I suppose depending on where you are in the city, you might have to ask a few different times before anyone actually gives you a straight answer.

Honestly, while I was typing this out, I kept thinking about that one line from Monkey Island 3—you know, one of those "wrong" answers during an Insult Melee where Guybrush asks, “Can I get my parking ticket validated?” That’s pretty much where the whole idea of "validating" came from, I guess. 😉

A "lejming" is basically like how people here try to adopt American slang—you know, like when someone says "cool-esque"—but it actually comes from the word... That was pretty lame.. 😁

There you go. Explained. 😂 (Yeah, I know they aren't actual words—just slang, at least—but I think they sound pretty funny.) 😁)

Jamie Sanchez48> Wow, wow, slow down there, let's not go after Nemo just yet. Look, I'll give credit to everyone in The Incredibles cast—I mean, who was it that even made the first post praising them anyway?—but please, stop comparing The Incredibles to the rest of the Pixar lineup.

Look, I'm not saying anything against Nemo... it's a great movie and all that, but IMNSHO, The Incredibles is clearly better. I honestly doubt anyone's going to top that anytime soon.

And why on earth shouldn't we compare movies from the same studio? It's pretty straightforward to me. Just like I might argue that Aladdin is better than... I don't know... Mulan, I feel like The Incredibles is better than Nemo. It's just an opinion, but I'll stand by it.

Besides that, you can see there’s really no point in trying to compare it to movies from other studios. 😉
Jamie Sanchez48> I guess you could say Nemo is basically a cartoon for adults that kids can watch too, rather than the other way around.

Look, I don't know about you, but I disagree... it’s an animated movie that kids love, sure, but adults get just as much out of it. 🙂
Jamie Sanchez48> Don't tell me I'm supposed to laugh at some joke meant for toddlers.

So? It’s really not that big of a deal. I mean, deep down, every single one of us still has that inner kid who loves this kind of stuff. It’s perfectly normal—and honestly, totally okay—to laugh at those kinds of jokes, provided they're actually funny, of course.

Look, humor is humor. If a joke actually lands and works, then it’s good, regardless of who it's aiming at.

Anne is out....😢

She started off really strong and aggressive, but I guess she just caught a stick or something, which threw her completely off balance and caused her to miss the next gate... such a shame...😢

Now it's all up to Nicole and Jane. 👍
