Biškupić announces new "movie ticket tax in Movies ·
A ticket usually runs you about 20 to $8.25, though if you’re heading over to AMC Theatres to catch a Peter Jackson film, you can expect to shell out closer to $11.
Could someone clarify things for me? Are we voting for the most iconic actor or the most legendary character? I could probably wrap my head around the first one, but I feel like I’m flying blind without more info on the second. Since I’ve heard that California-made Schraufnciger and Istvud steel just don't mix well, having a bit more background on the actors themselves would definitely help clear the air. Also, did everyone just forget to mention Rambo? 😁 (meaning Stallone) By the way, mods, you can always expand this poll to include as many characters as you want. (just a little hint here 🙂)
Good Bye, Lenin! in Movies ·
My two cents: you should definitely check this one out. It’s a tragicomedy that manages to find a little something for everyone, though I think people who have lived through both the rigid old systems and the wild ride of modern capitalism will find it hits closest to home.

If I had to pick out just one standout element—though honestly, it’s more of a collection of moments—it would have to be the main character's buddy who spends his time daydreaming about becoming some big-shot Hollywood director. 😁 Words don't really do it justice; you just have to experience it for yourself. 🙂

Then there's that specific scene where the doctor gives the protagonist a little "tutorial" on what to do if his mother's heart actually stops. 😂 It deals with a heavy subject, but the execution is absolutely hilarious.

I also really appreciated how the movie avoids those typical Hollywood villains. It feels much more grounded, almost as if society itself is the primary antagonist we're all up against. (Feel free to tear me apart if you think I'm totally off base here. 😁)

Hey gnn, have you had a chance to check it out yet? What’s your take on it? 😁

Just in case a meteorite decides to strike him right out of the blue, or he somehow manages to dodge a runaway subway train just seconds before it crushes his favorite CD, you might want to keep a Plan B in your back pocket. 🙂

JEEEEEEEE!!!! Sweetkus Đizus Iamblikus Amplifikus !!! JEEEEEEEE!!!!111one-two-three-four

I only managed to catch the opening act before having to run, so I'll definitely have to circle back and finish the rest later.

It’s actually a pretty clever little touch they included where, right after someone dies, they list exactly who was taken out and how many people are still left standing—it feels a bit like watching a scoreboard during a high-stakes game of Battle Royale. And man, if you're looking for a movie that really sticks with you and gives you plenty of food for thought, this one certainly delivers on that front.
Kill Bill Vol. 1 in Movies ·
Just finished watching the movie.

I’m definitely going to sit down and watch it again soon.

The absolute standout moment has to be that scene with the snowflakes. Honestly, scenes like that are why I have such a love-hate relationship with Quentin Tarantino; I find myself wishing I could have been the one to dream it up, storyboard it, and direct it myself. It was pure perfection, with every single snowflake landing exactly where it needed to.

And man, when that spaghetti western style music started kicking in... I actually found myself tearing up. It just hit me with this massive wave of nostalgia.

It’s one of those rare cinematic experiences where I didn't feel the urge to shout commentary at the screen every five minutes.

Oh, and yeah, now I really want a katana hanging on my wall.

Unless, of course, that's not really what you're looking for?
Or maybe you’d actually prefer to put up a fight instead of letting them "heal" you?
Notice how I used the word --> fight.

Uh, you make it sound like we're talking about that one chiropractor, Pavlovic (or whatever his name is again?).

Once we wrap up the actual filming, my partner and I (or whoever else is in the scene) head back into the studio to redo the action, making sure our breathing and sounds perfectly match the facial expressions shown on screen. It’s honestly pretty exhausting work. There are times when we have to run through the exact same sequence five different times just to get it right.

Hmhm, sounds to me like you've definitely put in enough overtime to qualify for some serious pension credits. Have you checked in with your union about that yet?
Worst Sci-Fi Horror movies of all time in Movies ·
To me, "Event Horizon" is easily the absolute worst one out there, at least among the ones I’ve actually sat through. They marketed it as this big sci-fi epic, which is exactly why I went to see it, but it turned out to be nothing more than a horror flick—and a terrible one at that. Just awful!
Well, it’s like someone else mentioned earlier—if I’ve already forgotten a movie, then it’s gone for good. But there were two films that were so spectacularly terrible they actually stuck in my brain:

"Emerald Forest" — honestly, this one was such a slog that I couldn't even finish it; I ended up walking out of the theater halfway through because it was just so incredibly boring...

"Event Horizon" (or something like that) — I went in expecting a solid sci-fi flick, but man, did I get burned. Instead of being gripped by the tension, I just felt physically sick, though thankfully it was more of a digestive issue than anything fatal.
Bare Bullets in Movies ·
There was this one scene in Police Squad where the camera pans across the entire station floor. In the background, you can catch a glimpse through some blurry glass doors of a silhouette showing a woman showering. 😂
Are there pilots on the II? in Movies ·
Both of these movies are absolute madness. The first one is wild because it’s just inherently crazy, and the second one takes that exact same energy but cranks it up by adding William Shatner to the mix. It's actually one of those rare Hollywood gems that avoids getting overly sappy or dragging through pointless filler, though I will admit the second film 😢 drags just a tiny bit. But man, seeing how William parodies his own persona... it’s pure, unadulterated chaos squared! And then that teaser for the third installment drops... "That's exactly what people expect from us," delivered with that classic James T. Kirk flair. Also, that bit where the screen turns out to be a door? Honestly, I had such a blast watching this that I feel like I have to say it all over again.
