Besides, I couldn't care less about someone trying to corner me privately
I already told you, there was this one person popping up in the thread using a bunch of different handles

As far as your data goes, I definitely haven't handed anything over, nor am I even aware of what kind of info is out there

You didn't have to
you could've just told us your actual story instead of trying to sell everyone this nonsense
Everything is right there in plain sight, and honestly, I’m not about to start giving out free private tutoring sessions on how to actually navigate a forum

Back when we had the core crew, if anyone was going to mess with you, they did it at a certain level; the banter was sharp, sure, but it actually had some substance to it.
Then, slowly but surely, this wave of people started showing up who weren't even really tech enthusiasts—and sorry if I’m being clumsy with my wording here, but I can't think of any other way to put it—they were mostly just looking for a place to hang out.
Right before the true internet generation arrived, you had these kids hopping online simply because they were bored at home, and that's when the quality of everything just took a massive nose dive.
That was also the moment where basic moral standards had to be firmly established, otherwise, the whole thing would have devolved into nothing but petty bickering and constant insults flying left and right.
In those corners of the web where people failed to set those boundaries, those communities eventually just ceased to exist.

There weren't any actual bans issued, it was all just arbitrary stuff based on whatever the moderator felt like doing at the moment.

But honestly, it’s also worth noting that there was this specific crowd that didn't really meet the "standard" anyway, and it wasn't like everyone lurking in the shadows had a reliable connection or even access to the internet and the forum.

Look, I'm hollowtrucker77, and he’s just Tyndall, which is more than enough context for anyone hanging out on this forum
Besides, you really shouldn't be throwing around people's actual names; you're just asking for trouble with those privacy violation claims

How do I know?
It’s probably just because there are still these supposed geniuses out there trying far too hard, using increasingly moronic methods to get their point across
Honestly, if I were their Marketing Director, I’d be hitting them over the head with a shovel until they finally understood the assignment—or at least until their heads were level with their knees, whichever comes first
Besides, people can actually go find an article on their own without having every single link spoon-fed to them
If they aren't capable of doing that, then we aren't exactly dealing with a group worth having a real conversation with anyway

They don't exist?
Well, let me just cast a little doubt on that assertion, shall I?
It’s not like The New York Times is some kind of pioneer here; they’re really just one more player in a long line of people finding clever ways to push their own ads.
Besides, who actually cares—anyone can head over to any random news site whenever they feel like seeing what's trending anyway.
Why on earth should people hanging out on this forum have to endure a constant barrage of links from all sorts of different sites?

you finally made it
congrats

What goes on inside the borders of Mexico or frankly any other country has absolutely nothing to do with American politics.
And look, I’m not even sitting here claiming that every single topic posted on this PDF politics board is actually justified.
The point is, what we care about over here are the events involving international relations that actually impact us—anything that has some sort of connection to our own interests.
This specific thread is just rehashing stuff that doesn't fit that criteria at all, unless you count a vague, misplaced interest in "regional" happenings.

our people?
are we even talking about the same group of people here?
we're facing what, exactly?
our domestic politics have absolutely nothing to do with the chaos unfolding in Turkmenistan, Central Africa, Washington, D.C., or any of those other power centers out there.

There is absolutely zero chance that any website is going to load at a decent speed on 56k these days.
Take this forum, for instance—when everything is running smoothly, it pops up pretty quick enough, but the second you try to pull off anything remotely heavy, the whole thing just chokes and dies.
Hey admin, I’m starting to worry you might have to redesign the entire site just so people can actually use it while hanging onto a shaky 3G signal out in the middle of nowhere.

Sure thing, just make sure you grab some high-speed internet first

From where I’m sitting, it feels like we’re all just collectively stuck with this mess, at least for the time being

I’m just going to sit here and nod along with everything said about C/P being nothing more than pure spam, honestly.

Lisa Hernandez3, have we actually gone over this in our DMs yet?
If you’ve finally come to terms with the fact that both arbitration and oversight exist, then just accept that both sides have done their jobs and moved on.
You can't honestly believe that throwing around threats of force is some kind of magic wand to conjure up the specific outcome you're looking for, can you?
Or do you think some poor soul in administration is going to spend their entire day sprinting around to answer the exact same question over and over again, just because you decided to rephrase it slightly differently every time??
You keep leaning on the idea of coercion as an argument, but frankly, by acting this way, you aren't leaving any room for a real conversation to happen.

Everything that needed an answer has been answered, and now I really have to ask that we drop this topic; this constant back-and-forth tugging isn't going to be accepted as a valid way to hold a discussion.
I'm not really feeling the "ignore" option... in Feedback & Suggestions ·
spot on
if you decided to just tune out all the repetitive quoting going on here, the whole topic would actually start looking pretty illogical and hollow, if you ask me.
🙂
