This image feels—to me, at least—rather fitting 😁

I can't help but wonder why the ASPCA didn't just report this to the police and let them handle the investigation properly—instead of trying to take justice into their own hands like this 🤷

Is there any reason why we don't have the BBC recordings available on IPTV?

That’s pretty much how I used to handle things—though I can't really pull that off anymore; I've definitely gotten older. 🧐

Just another tedious race... the only real change from the last few is that I keep hearing Aleš instead of Mladen echoing through my speakers 🤮

🤣🤣🤣

Honestly, Lewis Hamilton pulled that off quite well—especially considering what happened with the driver mentioned above 😬🤣

If I recall correctly, that other driver was handed a three-race ban because of that incident 🤣

So, it isn't just that Lewis Hamilton executed it perfectly—he actually managed to get away with it much more easily 😁

crimsonstag84 said:They really should have... he wasted two sets of yellows during qualifying 🙂

What if they were following some bizarre logic—sending someone out to pull about 30 laps on the super softs, hoping they could match what Vettel and Jenson Button did on the softs? 😂

Maybe he was nursing those tires so much that he ended up being just a bit too slow on the softer compound? Personally, if he was going to run the super soft and then go again, he should have burned through them for 10 or 11 laps to build a 10-second gap—then pit right behind Vettel—and I honestly doubt he wouldn't have won... if it hadn't been for that spin... 😢

🤔

Yup, that was the strategy, though it wasn't just the spin that messed things up—it was the fact that, say, Vettel and Button were pulling laps on the yellows nearly as fast as Fernando Alonso was on the reds during those few laps before the rain hit (likely due to the track cooling down). I find it hard to believe Lewis would have built enough of a cushion to pit and still reclaim the lead... 🤷

stormybadger8 said:It’s wild how he burned through two sets of mediums—once in Q1 and again in Q2. 😳

Lewis was actually the only one who finished both Q1 and Q2 sitting on those medium tires.

In a perfect world—say, if the track stayed bone-dry and the asphalt was scorching—that might have actually worked out as a strategic advantage. But unfortunately, it wasn't—it just ended up being a massive handicap.

Don't they get three sets of hards and three sets of softs (well, four, if you count them that way)? 😕

stormybadger8 said:He really should have gone with the red tires—he completely messed up his qualifying run😉

If I recall correctly, he was actually the only one without a fresh set of yellow tires—though he did have those new reds, unlike everyone else.😉

I'm not entirely sure—I wasn't glued to the qualifying session—but I think he definitely needed at least one set of fresh yellows...

Regardless, the call to switch to intermediates isn't really a controversial one, nor is it particularly strange—it didn't cost us much either, since the race was essentially lost long before that point.
2011 Canadian Grand Prix - July 31st in Formula 1 ·
Honestly, you're the one to blame here... if he hadn't saved that set of red tires for qualifying, we wouldn't be in this mess right now. 🤣

He spent too much time playing strategist—now he’s just sitting there in silence, knowing deep down that he brought this on himself.
2011 Canadian Grand Prix - July 31st in Formula 1 ·
Wait, why does anyone even care about the intermediate tires? Hamilton's race was basically handed to him once the pit crew opted for those reds instead.

Those intermediates were a total gamble—if the rain had picked up just a little more, he would have totally wiped out any advantage lost by picking the wrong rubber 🤷

And honestly, he didn't really lose anything—I mean, sure, he lost ground to guys like Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso, but he likely would've lost those spots anyway if he'd been forced into another pit stop... though maybe he wouldn't have caught Alonso... perhaps. 🤷

So, there wasn't much risk involved, nothing to lose, yet he still could have snatched the win. 🙂

And then just turn around once Button has cleared the area.

The stewards made the right call here. ☕

Just look at the gap between Hamilton and di Resta—his line was all over the place... 🤷

With Red Bull and Williams flying past on one side, and di Resta coming up on the right while Button holds the left—all while the rest of the pack is charging through behind them—it’s honestly a miracle there wasn't a massive pileup. 🤷

mistybear87 said:No—I think you've got that one wrong.

Even if everyone had to go off-track, they’d be dodging a STATIONARY car. There is a massive difference between a car spinning wildly out of control and one that is just sitting there—you never know which way it'll be facing when you come around the bend.

So, my take on the reasoning—one hundred points ☕

Oh, mistybear87... please don't tell me he was supposed to just sit there—waiting for the pack to pass and praying to God that nobody leveled him.

Just take a look...

Andrea di Resta panicked, and that's why he pulled out. The idea that Red Bull and Williams Racing could clear the area while he couldn't... honestly, what a load of nonsense.

Yup, they went to intermediates, and then Lewis Hamilton switched to them right after.

Hem was actually lapping the field there—when he headed into the pits, wasn't Jenson Button also waiting on him?

Michael Lee4 said:Did they actually penalize him for that spin on the track? I mean, okay—it was definitely dangerous...

Lujis and Massica... parts are going to be flying everywhere 🤣

It was risky, sure—but what else could he have done? His chances of being picked up by someone else were basically the same whether he spun out, tried to cut across the grass, or just sat there waiting. 🤷

So, what was the deal with that penalty? What was he actually supposed to do—just flash all four hazard lights at once?
