Any real difference in how they work? in Spirituality ·
wearyowl29 said:😂 A lucky rabbit versus St. Anthony....

Honestly, they should just team up! The rabbit brings the good luck, and then if you somehow manage to lose it, you've got St. Anthony on hand to track down whatever went missing... he’s the guy who finds lost things, right???=

Look at her, acting like she knows anything about St. Anthony😛
and clearly nothing about the bunny either😍

So, you've made your choice, then.

By the way, I actually had to jump on Google to look up why St. Anthony is such a big deal.
Wikipedia mentions how he preached in languages he never even studied, and that God performed miracles through him on a scale unlike any other saint in history, right up to this very day.🙏
Plus, my mom always says he's the go-to specialist for family matters and kids.

Personally, I don't think I even need an icon of St. Anthony to believe in him or the miracles that can happen through his grace.

No, seriously, how far does this "protection" of yours actually go, wearyowl29?
If we're only talking about the low-vibration parts of the planet, then I’d suggest sticking with Ansell 😁
(I actually found myself looking into it at the grocery store the other day—thanks to that whole abortion discussion... felt like a bit of deja vu from a past life)

None of those little patterns or cute designs, just the basics 🙂

Brian Foster3 said:Angels aren't some winged little people floating around with personalities—that's just how people misinterpret things because they can't wrap their heads around the truth. They are actually spiritual laws that construct our entire reality, acting as the fundamental forces driving both this physical world and the spiritual realms alike. It’s all happening according to the blueprint and command of the creator, so you could really look at angels as the specific ways the creator differentiates His power into active forces within existence.

It reminds me of that old Kabbalistic saying: "There isn't a single blade of grass out there that doesn't have an angel hovering over it, striking it and commanding, 'Grow!'"

X

@Paul Jones7, Kabbalah is totally solid, in & out 🙂

dustyraven26 said:He certainly possesses intuition—those sudden flashes of clarity regarding reality that bypass formal knowledge—he simply needs to clear the path for it. It isn't an easy feat, given how deeply ingrained our habits are, but it remains entirely achievable.

Hope and faith are the primary engines behind all human action.

And where exactly has that driven us?
Science suggests that humanity is steadily eroding its own sense of morality, ethics, and fundamental character.
The ultimate endgame of globalization is nothing less than the privatization of the entire planet, creating a world where the population size and lifestyle of the average person are dictated solely by the requirements of the elite.
Driven by consumerism, people have quite willingly embraced a philosophy where having things is far more important than being someone.

If we don't change course, we will inevitably arrive at the destination we are currently sprinting toward.
Where, precisely, is the human race heading?

Back to the trees😁
or down into the trenches
... unfortunately 😢

Anthony Perez9 said:Yeah, but that’s easy to say when you’re actually looking toward a bright future. 🙂[/I]

Nah. If you're always staring at the horizon, you’re going to miss everything happening right in front of you. 😉

Basically, everything you experience in the present moment is what you'll eventually reap down the road.

(Anthony Perez9, it’s really great to have you here; you’re keeping us all balanced 😁 The Religion board would be absolute chaos without you 😁 😁 Enjoy yourself 👍)
Faith and hope: a necessity or a delusion? in Spirituality ·
Anthony Perez9 said:Believing in hope is basically just bowing down to a "divine future."

"Tomorrow, all our dreams come true. Enlightenment is coming, Jesus will return on the clouds, I'll get a raise, and the girl I love will finally fall for me—we'll be in bed together by the day after tomorrow.
On Wednesday, I’ll get my promotion; in two years, a massive inheritance. Abundance and happiness await me—tomorrow, in the future, at the end of the road, somewhere in that hazy blur called tomorrow."

That’s "God time"—an idol, a crush, a hollow pile of clichés designed to drift us away from the NOW. While we're busy waiting for some future win, our limited time on this earth just evaporates, and tomorrow keeps receding like a mirage. We’re left with hands clenched and empty, begging for mercy from a God who isn't there.

God time is a scam; it drains your life force and leaves you feeling cheated.

The "road to happiness" is just a dead end that drops you straight into a canyon.

Truth is right here, right now. 🙂

That is exactly why you need hope. Your life force has been drained, leaving you empty, and hope is the very thing that keeps you going until you find your strength again.

For instance, imagine your relationship with the love of your life suddenly falls apart, or your friends are letting you down; the ache in your heart can be so heavy that you feel like you might just fade away, completely inconsolable.
It doesn't matter if a friend looks at coffee grounds, a crystal ball, or Tarot cards—whatever works—because all you really want is silence and the answer to one question: "is there any hope?" That single spark is what might actually keep you tethered to this world. Then they tell you, "Anthony Perez9, you were born under a lucky star! It’s just stepped out for a moment to stretch its legs; it’s just around the corner! It will stroll back into your kingdom in about... a decade!"

And just like that, you get your hope, and you survive. "God time" performs miracles. 👍
In the meantime, you happen to meet the Queen of Sheba. 🙏
The question is: what would have happened if hope hadn't kept you alive??
The answer: the Queen of Sheba would have withered away from grief. 😍

"The path to happiness" is a dead end that leads straight into a canyon.

So, bypass that page in your manifesto, or better yet: rip that page out entirely! It's hopeless. 😛

Truth is here and now. 🙂

True, but only if your eyes are fixed on a (bright) divine future. 🙂

For instance, the whole parking situation works perfectly. When we head downtown, my wife doesn't even dream of driving.
But there's another question bugging me. Does everyone have an Angel Guardian, or is it just a select few?
Do atheists, Buddhists, or Confucians have their own protector too?
And specifically—does this apply to people in places like Chernobyl, Hiroshima, or Bhopal...?

I love that word you used, "protector."🙂

I'm convinced that every single person is born with their own angel—that little ball of glowing energy that follows them around... maybe they call them something else, like Tinkerbell, who knows.🤷
Your angel is essentially a reflection of who you are (in terms of "shape").

As for Hiroshima, Chernobyl, and those other tragedies: guardian angels are personal protectors, not global ones.🙂

Though, I truly believe a day will come when people realize during their lifetime that we are all One, regardless of our differences. We'll learn to unite in a prayer so powerful it could move planets—let alone defend us from an asteroid strike.🥳

Especially the whole bit about chubby faces, curly hair, and wings—it’s just not realistic.

LOL, well it’s no wonder you drove your own Angel away, all because of some curls and bulky patterns. 😢

But seriously, casualtiger2, take a look once in a while; your Angel keeps his distance but he's still hanging around you just in case, and you know, he's grown quite a bit by now, just like you have. 😛
Don't push him away...

So, you really don't believe an Angel could serve as a decent airbag during a car crash?

Keith Baker said:Look, I think the whole parking lot example isn't directly about Angels, though there's certainly nothing wrong with believing it is. What we're really talking about is synchronicity—harmony. "Connection" is the magic word here, and intention is what triggers it. The entire community and everything we do is essentially one giant "web" woven from our thoughts and then our actions. By focusing your thoughts, you're actually prompting a reaction, which leads to that spontaneous fulfillment of what you want. It's like when you're thinking about someone and they suddenly call you out of the blue. It's a massive topic, but that's a conversation for another time.

As for Angels, I see them as pure, light-based entities representing unconditional love and cosmic harmony. If we are open enough to let an Angel into our lives, we will undoubtedly feel their protection and sense their love—and in return, we stay aware and grateful. Much like an internal spiritual guide, they’ll always point us in the right direction if we just have the decency to ask. 🙂

So, I guess that’s it then: your angel lights the way, pointing you toward a spot in a crowded parking lot that just happened to open up right as you pulled in. You just have to stay tuned in and be in harmony with that light.

As for enjoying that angelic protection and feeling grateful for it—you put it perfectly, Keith Baker: all thanks goes to God, who directs all the angels and saints to help us out whenever we ask.

I still remember the stress and trauma of high school and college exams. For someone like me (and please, try to remember your own experiences)—someone who was lost in space, constantly reading something else, getting lost in music, or "wasting time writing" (as my mom used to say) instead of studying for tests—passing those exams wouldn't have been possible if I hadn't trusted in the help of my Angel. My entire study routine usually lasted exactly as long as it took to say a prayer the night before, a prayer in the morning, and then a quick prayer in the school restroom while waiting for the exam to start. During the test itself, it was all about concentrating ON the material and trusting IN the Angel I had asked to sit in my shirt pocket and whisper the answers to me.🙂 😛

That friendship with your Angel is built over years, so it’s no wonder they work miracles for me. So, Keith Baker, I suppose my Angel really does lead me straight to a parking spot in the middle of a busy downtown or a packed shopping mall.🙂

I mean, how can you not believe when you grew up sleeping right under that massive oil painting in a heavy frame? You know the one—that hyper-realistic depiction of an Angel Guardian watching over two little kids crossing a bridge. It was hanging in our house forever. 🙂

In The Arms of an Angel - Sarah McLachlan

Honestly, without Angels, life would be pretty unbearable; they really do make things easier for us.
I like to think my Angel always manages to snag me a parking spot. It’s honestly a miracle because no matter where I go or how crowded the lot is, while everyone else is circling around desperately looking for a space, Lisa Morales4 just glides right into the perfect spot that seems to be waiting specifically for her.

slymaker9 said:Basically, a shortcut to the grave.🤣

My Starry is in such a great mood; that instant boost really does the trick. That drink is lethal. I don't really feel like hunting through YouTube right now to find that video of the 17-year-old athlete. You know the one—he's right in the middle of a game, mid-jump, when he just collapses like he's been hit by lightning because of all the caffeine, taurine, and whatever else was in that Red Bull.
Some countries within the European Union actually have a ban on that specific energy drink.

I could never bring myself to drink instant coffee—it just gives me terrible stomach pains.
Just boil some water, prep the coffee, and wait for the kettle to whistle... and just go from there.

Is there a saying like "what goes fast is junk"? I can't quite remember if that's how people actually put it. 🤷

Through the process of steady, dedicated work—as you put it—people have managed to find true satisfaction, pouring their very selves and their own spirituality into everything they do.

I think we’re starting to drift back into that same old cycle again, at least from where I'm sitting.
It’s kind of like how things work in school, right? You get an assignment, but the final version only accounts for maybe 20% of your total grade. The real weight comes from everything else—the notes you take, your personal reflections, the drafting process, and all that groundwork you put in before the final submission.
So, when it comes down to grading, they don't just look at one thing—they evaluate the entire package, taking into account the whole three-week workflow from start to finish.

The spiritual component really boils down to how you approach the task at hand—your level of commitment and the specific strategies you bring to the table, like how you handle teamwork or cooperate with those around you.

It’s the same way when you look at the workflow within any given industry. Watch Dogs. They’re looking directly at how things actually run—the interpersonal dynamics and the core strategies—so they don't even need to wait for a finished product to weigh in on whether the company culture feels right.

slymaker9 said:There is one more interesting point I’d like to add here.
Modern pop culture pushes the idea that everything needs to be fast, fun, and convenient. The goal is always to find a shortcut to the finish line. That has become the standard path.
Society no longer values persistence when faced with failure or obstacles, nor does it value the deep satisfaction that can only be earned through long-term, steady effort.
Everything has to be instant, or else it’s considered too slow. It’s like what N'Dug would say: why wait for a fine vintage wine to age when you can just grab an energy drink?
It is difficult to resist this trend.

It is very easy for people to progressively lower their standards just to avoid what they’ve been convinced is "struggling"—the idea that hard work is just for losers who can't find a way around.

When you lower your standards, you trigger a domino effect that lowers your expectations in every area of life, including emotional investment and commitment. This applies to relationships, self-knowledge, personal achievements, and self-development. Without engagement, there are no results.

I also want to touch on something Vertigo mentioned regarding how people react to those who achieve more than expected. Does the success of others make people feel uncomfortable, potentially driving them to lower their own standards and only operate at a fraction of their actual potential?
I think it would be worthwhile to explore this concept further.
Traditional American society understood the value of grit and diligent work much better than we do now.

Yeah, it's the shortcut, the quick fix, the path of least resistance.

A few points worth highlighting:
For defense mechanisms to actually work, they have to remain unconscious.
We can view psychiatric symptoms as instances where these defenses have failed.

hmmmm ... just imagine, following Vaillant's logic—sexualization acting as a defense mechanism ....

which means it becomes this intense pressure on the partner of such a stressed-out individual 😲

Who said I'm searching for anything? Are you reading that I'm looking for something? (Maybe you're reading between the lines there...) I'm just trying to work on myself, because I know I can do it. Women will come as a byproduct of me getting my act together, and honestly, I've still got a long way to go.

Source oh no, you are persistent in this mission to fix my thinking... I really appreciate the effort!

But, no thanks, Lisa (your vibe isn't hitting with me). 😉

Let me be the judge of my own relationships, okay?

I consider myself a bit of an artist when it comes to my own emotional life. Definitely. I have the exclusive right to judge myself in my relationships, even if I'm dead wrong.

I have to admit, you're starting to grow on me, Lisa... After reading that thought of yours, I actually wanted to meet you for the first time. 😬

Look... It's not that I reduce my relationship with my wife to just "physical stuff," but if that's your angle, be my guest.

Source oh no, I'd probably clash with you immediately... Twenty years ago, you definitely wouldn't have liked me! 😍

But today, I'm in a different headspace, okay?

Casual sex isn't "free" from chains, or have you still not realized that? Do I need to draw you a map? 🙄

And what am I supposed to do when I'm incredibly complicated, while all you need is a 7 or a 15 to be happy?!

Ronald Rogers27 said:I don't get it... Why am I isolated? I just need peace. I don't need a relationship. Not a spiritual one, not an emotional one. Maybe just physical, but I've been through too much in Life to let myself go there (just satisfying basic instincts). Why do you call that selfish isolation?

You'd be too much... You're looking for a whole man because you're mature enough to know what a real connection costs, especially being over 30. That's just not something I can offer any woman right now. And no, I have NEVER pitied myself. If anything, I know myself pretty damn well. After a heavy karmic relationship, I need a long, long break to recalibrate everything about who I am. 😬

I've felt Love three times in Life. None of those were karmic. Now I know what it looks like with a karmic partner... It isn't just about Love. It's something Higher. A connection with the Creator. It's not easy to explain my feelings. Or my intuition.

It’s not quite that linear, Lisa... You have a tendency to oversimplify complex things. I used to do that too, but it's not helpful. Things are what they are, and every person has their own unique interface and identity. Chains aren't necessarily bad... Especially if you have nothing to give to the other side... The person on the other side of the pillow! 🙄

Ronald Rogers27

If you feel like an outsider, then that's just who you are—I think I’ve said that before myself.
Generally speaking, Man's sense of alienation really started taking root back in the 20th century.

And who exactly doesn't need Peace, if you please, sir!!
You've got to think about this differently. He doesn't actually need Love; what he really needs is Peace.

Just a physical connection alone can't ever provide true Peace.
We really ought to start an entire thread just for this.

It’s pretty obvious that if a "spiritual or emotional connection" isn't genuine—if it isn't the real deal—it actually ends up draining your Peace more than anything else. In fact, that's usually where the biggest loss happens.

Quincy:
It would be too much... You’re looking for a whole man because you’re mature enough to know what a relationship actually costs, especially once you hit your 30s. Right now, I just can't offer that to any woman. And honestly? I can't even offer it to myself. NEVER I wasn't being sentimental. If nothing else, I know exactly who I am, and I know myself pretty damn well. After experiencing a truly intense, karmic connection, I need a long, long break—just some time to recalibrate everything about myself, in every sense of the word. 😬
Wow, that sounds like actual fun; now that you've dialed back the intensity, all that silliness just disappears. 😛

Well, for the sake of spirituality, let's try this again:

A relationship isn't just something you happen upon. Looking for something. ... though, I’ll admit, for some people, it really is.

How can you even call that relationship "real" if you need a timeout? Damn, if you need a break just to completely reconfigure yourself—and I mean in every possible sense of the word—then what exactly are you calling a "true" connection?
So, which way is your soul actually headed: back toward its own Source, or drifting away from it?

By the way, what exactly do you mean by a karmic connection? 😕

Quincy:
I’ve experienced Love three times in my Life. None of those instances were karmic. Now, I finally understand what it would feel like to be with a karmic woman... It isn't just about the romance. It's something much Higher. A direct connection with the Creator. It’s honestly hard to put these feelings—or my intuition—into words.
There's really no need for explanations here: you just have to be. I feel pretty lucky, honestly. I hope I live to see it.
Feelings and love aren't things you can just measure in a lab, and honestly, you can't really explain them away either—artists are basically the only ones who truly attempt to capture them. They're trying.)

Quincy:
It’s not quite as straightforward as you’re making it out to be, Lisa Morales4... You have this tendency to oversimplify things that are actually pretty complex. I used to fall into that same trap myself, but honestly, it isn't a good way to look at the world. Things just are what they are, and every single person has their own unique interface and identity. Besides, being "shackled" isn't necessarily a bad thing, Lisa Morales4... especially if you don't have anything left to give to the other side... and by that, I mean the other side of the pillow! 🙄

Ronald Rogers27
Are you actually calling me narrow-minded, Ronald Rogers27? 😲 😢

You've got a point there: as much as it matters to be open-minded, easygoing, and not overthink things, it's just as important not to strip away their essence by oversimplifying them.
The Truth lives in the simplest things, and when it comes to Love, everything feels effortless and pure.
(Honestly, we should probably start a whole separate thread just to talk about simplicity versus oversimplification.)
What seems impossibly complex to some people is absolute child's play to a true master or a virtuoso; it’s smooth sailing for them! They didn't get there by reducing complexity, but rather through a certain simplicity of approach that comes from passion, faith, and a genuine love for what they do.
...that's really where the connection with the Creator lies. 🙂

So, are shackles ever a good thing? 😲
Shackles belong in the depths of hell, not for God's free creations.
By force of pop—by force of thought. 🙂

When I mentioned that a Man should look at things from the perspective of "the other side," I meant that if you have nothing else to offer, you'll find yourself both receiving and giving more once you start seeing a "problem" through someone else's shoes.
That's just a fundamental value held by a happy Man in a happy society.

Ronald Rogers27

Well, if you aren't "nobody," then you're just unknown... why are you hiding away like a snake in the grass? 🙄

I mean, when are you finally going to step out from behind those walls and leave this selfish isolation behind? 😢 🤷
I truly believe that kind of thing would be overwhelming for you while you're still stuck in this headspace of clouded thoughts.
It’s going to be hard to find freedom as long as you keep wallowing in self-pity instead of wondering how things are on the other side of the pillow—given how detached you've become and all these unspoken barriers you've built up.
